Itsagrandoldteam · 08/11/2020 22:48

North West - South Cheshire

Year 13, 3 times. This time it's for the full 14 days, because best friend is positive.

puppygalore · 08/11/2020 22:50

Manchester
Yr 1 - 1
Yr R - 1

All other year groups apart from Nursery have done 1 14 day isolation each

This was during the first half term. Hoping we get through this current half term without any but who knows.

HazeyJaneII · 08/11/2020 22:53

South West
Ds - twice (year 6)
Dds- twice (years 9 and 10)

MsAwesomeDragon · 08/11/2020 22:55

Nw (Cumbria)
Dd year 6 -0 isolations
Me secondary teacher - 0 isolations

I'm pretty sure I'll be the first to have to isolate, but maybe I'll be wrong.

This thread really does show how unfair the current system is though. Lots of kids with no isolation periods at all, yet others have had to isolate 3-4 times already. Yet they'll sit the same exams either way.

There have been cases at the school (1600 kids plus staff) but they have been lucky so far

NW - nursery

middleager · 08/11/2020 23:05

This is the third time for my 14 year old since Sept. This is just so unsettling for us all.

Cases are rife at his brother's secondary.

middleager · 08/11/2020 23:06

We are in the Midlands.

Tinty · 08/11/2020 23:07

DD year 11 - 0
Whole school - 0 so far
In Devon

Nat6999 · 08/11/2020 23:07

Yorkshire, ds had to isolate twice in Y11 once after returning from school trip to Italy in February half term after contracting chest infection & second time after having Covid symptoms week before lockdown started. Many pupils in sixth form have had to be off with Covid but bubbles have not been sent home to isolate, why ever not I can't understand, I thought the idea of bubbles was so that if anyone tested positive in a bubble then the whole bubble had to isolate for 14 days

Cecilia2016 · 08/11/2020 23:10

DD (year 9) once for 3 days. South east

Trailing1 · 08/11/2020 23:11

This worries me too. My y10's had 5 weeks out of the classroom with a mixed bag of home learning. It's really getting to him now.

Areas like mine are being hit hard yet I have relatives in the SW who can't relate to so much time off as the schools aren't experiencing cases.

I also work with a number of schools. Already, half are starting tomorrow with reduced numbers of teachers, years and classes out.

I've written to my MP again because the gap will widen based on this postcode lottery.

Howmanysleepsnow · 08/11/2020 23:18

NW
Ds y10 x5. 4 since schools went back.

Dd y9 x1 (because DH had covid in late March. None since schools went back)

Ds y4, ds y3 x1 each (because DH had covid in late March. None since schools went back)

MarmiteCrumpet25 · 08/11/2020 23:26

DD year 12 once due to a pupil testing positive and once due to me having symptoms/ currently awaiting test result - south west.

middleager · 08/11/2020 23:33

I forgot to add that 100 y10s are off because of one child who went into school even though the dad had already tested positive for Corona virus. Yet still the child went in to school.

SouthKoreaquestion · 08/11/2020 23:35

DD Year 13: once. Certainly not the only one to have had to isolate at her school! West Yorkshire.
This thread is an absolute eye opener re the North/South divide!
The head teacher at DD's school no longer informs parents generally about individual cases.

shiningstar2 · 08/11/2020 23:37

NE

DGS YR 11 ...Once for 14 days
DGD YR 8... O

DD is a teacher in a Secondary school. She had covid at start of last lockdown in March. Hasn't had to isolate since.

FrangipaniBlue · 09/11/2020 00:00

Interesting that the most common year groups/year groups with frequent or multiple times in isolation seem to be the older end y11/12/13......

Why are this age group getting it more frequently?

Flagsfiend · 09/11/2020 06:23

I think the older students having more isolations is caused by a couple of things:

  • more likely to have adult symptoms and get tested and so show as positive
  • having to move more for lessons and so being close contacts of more people so one positive takes out more students
Ligglepiggle · 09/11/2020 06:37

School itself in N Yorks, most of kids come from Lancashire. No bubbles have closed up to press (touch wood!)

Clutterbugsmum · 09/11/2020 06:44

Year 7

Half year group sent home Friday afternoon, but can go back today. Only those children who have has prolonged contact with the child who tested positive have to isolate for 10 - 14 days.

I think the rates will be higher in the upper year groups as the children tend to have more free reign to go out and about and mixing with more people.
