Nor any of the other shops unfairly dodging the lockdown closure by claiming they are essential (someone on another thread's, local shoe shop, local branch of Next) etc.

It's bloody ridiculous. The more we are out and about, the more this virus has a chance to keep spreading. Don't click and collect from your local business, place orders online from them or phone up and arrange delivery.

Just stop f**king going out. If you don't HAVE to go out for work, essential shopping - ie food or medicine, just stay at home.

If you don't, don't moan when bloody Boris is on our screens on 2nd December saying the lockdown is extended.

@OverTheRainbow88

What has covid done to people?!!!!!!!

Turned people against each other, feel like they can police each other; tell each other what they is essential to buy.
Covid has caused people to be mildly ill, very ill or even die a very unpleasant death. It has not turned people against each other. People are showing their own personalities, that's all.

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 08:59

People making up shit as they go along.

Absolutely. Some people’s favourite bed past time seems to be altering what the official covid rules/guidelines are and being pissed off with people not adhering to things that were never required in the first place.

Completmentfille · 05/11/2020 08:59

Gloves are pointless and could do more harm than good.

The risk of contracting covid from a surface has been found to be absolutely negligible.

WokesFromHome · 05/11/2020 08:59

Desperately googles my nearest The Range Wink

Completmentfille · 05/11/2020 08:59

Yes it absolutely has. I've seen patients with severe mental health issues told to suck it up and get on with it for the greater good.

Quaagars · 05/11/2020 09:00

@Completmentfille

Do you really believe that you going around bollocking people will make any difference whatsoever to the decisions they make?

Has the opposite effect if anything. Guarantee if you'd put up a thread saying "everyone please go to The Range!" you'd have had a load of responses calling you selfish and saying it wasn't essential to pick up tat from The Range.

Very true lol Maybe a bit of reverse psychology needed next time OP?! Grin

@Rosadela

Op, I don’t know how else to put it, but kiss my ass x
I think that might breach the 2m rule for social distancing.
PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 09:01

Wearing gloves are good for those with mental health issues.

I prefer the 'wash your hands before/after touching things' method.

Are they?!!!

Jaxhog · 05/11/2020 09:03

I agree Op. If people keep trying to bend the rules THEY will be the reason the lockdown gets extended.

Look, I know it's tough, but if you want to get through this we have to be a lot more careful and a lot less selfish. It's only for four weeks. Don't make it longer.

Angelina82 · 05/11/2020 09:05

As a person considered high risk I stuck to the rules rigidly during the last lock down. Today I will be going to Wickes to pick up some soil, then onto Argos to pick up a jumperoo for my grandson. Still sticking to the rules and not giving one shiny shit about your opinion.

ivfbeenbusy · 05/11/2020 09:05

Wear gloves when out shopping (or keep hands effectively clean).

Someone also compared doing this to wearing the same condom with 5 different women.......🤢

caringcarer · 05/11/2020 09:06

People are dying of the virus and all some care about is buying Xmas decorations when they could avoid going out and spreading virus by buying decorations on line. They will only stop when they lose a loved one to the virus.

Bowerbird5 · 05/11/2020 09:06

I won’t be going.

I went yesterday! I have hardly been out just started to go about three Weeks ago to do food shopping.
The reason I went was because a friend of mine in her 80’s has been ill and has not been able to go out at all. She loves art and crafts. I went to get some stamping ink and some other bits and pieces cards, paper etc as I am going to put a pack together and lend her lots of my stamps so she can make some cards for her family and many friends. It will be good for her mental health as she won’t have seen anyone etc perhaps the people across the road.

There was no queue, they had someone on the door, antiseptic gel and when I went in there was no one in that section except a lovely, young assistant stacking shelves. There was a man later who can beside me but he was elderly so I just moved and went back when he had moved on. There were a few further down in the Christmas bit. I had to queue for a couple of minutes and it was all marked out with 2 metre marks so easy. I washed my hands well when I returned home. I think I was probably safer than going to the supermarket.
They have put an Iceland in the middle. Last lockdown there were queues I suppose they were selling more food than the usual biscuits. I suppose it helped people on that side of the city which only has a small co op and a Spar. I live in the country so we have to travel as there and no shops. I’m stocked up now so probably won’t need to go outside the village.

PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 09:06

PurpleDaisies

I've found this to be the case at my workplace, amongst acquaintances and a couple of friends.

Where I've been in a position to provide gloves, I've emphasised the need to wash hands in the first instance. It seems to be a "in control" issue.

Covidiot · 05/11/2020 09:07

Surely Boris isn't going to decide whether or not to extend the lockdown based on how many people went The Range?

Surely, he's going to look at the infection rates?

OMG do you realise the utter stupidity of what you’ve just said

Do you not see the contradiction?? The more people that go out on non essential trips, the greater the number that will be infected. We therefore want to restrict non-essential out of the home trips as much as possible to allow those who do have to go out, especially those who cannot WFH and need to earn a fucking living, To do so and minimise their chances of catching the virus.

This should not be hard to understand. It’s not frothing, it’s very simple logic.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2020 09:08

Op, if you’re not well it’s probably better to write that in the op rather than later, because many folks won’t read the thread.

Everyone is struggling in their own way during this lock down, it’s a difficult time for everyone, and if you put a thread out dictating the rules should be stricter than the government lock down dictates, to approx 16 million folks, then yes people are going to react.

I think from your posts you know it’s the mental health issues you’re suffering from that is colouring your reaction. If you’d wrote what you’d written and stated I am suffering from mental illness and unable to cope the replies would have been very different indeed. Much gentler.

Rachie1973 · 05/11/2020 09:08

@PurpleHoodie

(I do by the way. We are a higher earning household with cars ++ however we give a shit about other people who are not)
Do you have a white slimline telephone, candlelit soirées and a sister with a Mercedes, swimming pool and room for a pony?
PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 09:09

Rachie.

No.

What is a slimline telephone?

IHeartHounds · 05/11/2020 09:10

I did not know the range was open. Thanks for the heads up.

Grin Come on Hyacinth, we know it's you lol (and may or may not have just read "with room for a pony" in her voice) Grin
Napqueen1234 · 05/11/2020 09:12

I agree OP. In fact I would suggest you don’t go out until there’s a vaccine, not only a vaccine but herd immunity is achieved. It might be another year but at the end of the day you’ll be one less person out and about to pick up and spread the virus. You won’t NEED to do Christmas shopping or get your hair done and your kids won’t NEED to do clubs and things. You can do online shops and ask a friend to drop off prescriptions etc. Selfish people wanting some normality in life in these hideous times. It’s about you.

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 09:12

They will only stop when they lose a loved one to the virus.

People have lost loved ones to covid. I have and it was terribly sad. That doesn’t mean going to the Range suddenly becomes really high risk. It isn’t.

peachescariad · 05/11/2020 09:13

It's a virus....it spreads and is going to for a long, long time whether The Range is open or not...

However I love The Range so will pop down this weekend Grin
