Nor any of the other shops unfairly dodging the lockdown closure by claiming they are essential (someone on another thread's, local shoe shop, local branch of Next) etc.

It's bloody ridiculous. The more we are out and about, the more this virus has a chance to keep spreading. Don't click and collect from your local business, place orders online from them or phone up and arrange delivery.

Just stop f**king going out. If you don't HAVE to go out for work, essential shopping - ie food or medicine, just stay at home.

If you don't, don't moan when bloody Boris is on our screens on 2nd December saying the lockdown is extended.

OP here is a simple guide for you

See how it mentions click and collect being low risk?

Oh and please don't start about 'sitting on a bench' as well...

fuckrightoff · 05/11/2020 08:49

@Janaih

You should pop down there OP, pick up a box of grips.

Totally irresponsible as make up is far from essential (especially when you can't go out anyway!)

I wear make up to hide a huge scar on my face. It stops people staring and makes me feel less like a freak. What some class as non-essential, others may see as essential.

Completmentfille · 05/11/2020 08:50

Oh go away OP.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/11/2020 08:50

I'm with you OP. There's some really nasty replies on this thread.

Completmentfille · 05/11/2020 08:50

I'm actually planning to take the train into Central London tomorrow to go for a walk with my little boy.

Train will be dead, central London will be dead. Much deader than my local park anyway, which is always heaving.

RaspberryCoulis · 05/11/2020 08:51

Putting it in the most simple terms for the hard of thinking.

We have been told, consistently from the start, that Covid spreads in situations where you're within 2 metres of someone for 15 minutes when neither of you are wearing a mask. Right?

So how does that square with a visit to ANY shop when:

  • You're supposed to wear a face covering unless exempt
  • You're not going to be within 2 metres of someone for 15 minutes

As someone who is extremely clinically vulnerable and received a shielding letter last lockdown YABU. If you think this is the source of infections then don’t go.

I didn’t leave my garden from March -July and it was honestly the hardest, most awful thing I have ever experienced in my whole life. My mental health is still a mess. I’m now scared of crowds, have an obsession about dirt and panic attacks all the time. The last lockdown left me with severe suicidal thoughts.

I for one am planning an early morning trip to the range next week (providing it isn’t busy at this time so my anxiety will allow me to go inside), and also B&M so I can buy Christmas decorations. I will be decorating for Christmas shortly and to me this is an essential and will help me relieve some of the load of this lockdown. I will not allow my mental health to get any worse and we are sacrificing a lot. IMO it’s not shopping that is responsible, it’s the lack of social distancing when shopping because over the last few weeks I’ve seen very little of it.

NastyBlouse · 05/11/2020 08:51

Is this a really weird advert for The Range?

RockStarMartini · 05/11/2020 08:52

I'm on the fence with this one, I'm pretty much of the opinion that we all just need to do what we personally feel safe with and I'll certainly go to the shops that are open if I need something but not necessarily just for a browse.

The bullying tone of the posts disagreeing with the OP really pisses me off though - I hate the MN way of posters ganging up trying to be clever and hilarious and chuckling about how 'this didn't go the way you expected did it OP'. It's childish and unpleasant - people are entitled to disagree but you can say so without sounding like a dick.

NoMoreFlowers · 05/11/2020 08:52

I absolutely agree with you OP

Could be Nasty

Yes Raspberry. Wearing gloves and not touching face, then goods are a good added extra.

Jroseforever · 05/11/2020 08:55

@PurpleDaisies

Wear gloves when out shopping (or keep hands effectively clean).

This isn’t recommended by any official advice.

Just that.

This poster won’t care though. She’ll still judge anyone not wearing gloves.

People making up shit as they go along.

PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 08:55

These shops sell food. People need to buy food and not everyone can afford to bulk buy/prep.

Real world common sense and actions goes a long way.

Brill idea! I’ll take my two next weekends.

Again, thanks for heads up. Op this thread so hasn’t gone the way you wanted!!

Do you really believe that you going around bollocking people will make any difference whatsoever to the decisions they make?

PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 08:57

I don't wear gloves when out shopping. I just have a shopping list and pick up what I need.

I'm a frequent hand washer.

Completmentfille · 05/11/2020 08:58

Has the opposite effect if anything. Guarantee if you'd put up a thread saying "everyone please go to The Range!" you'd have had a load of responses calling you selfish and saying it wasn't essential to pick up tat from The Range.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/11/2020 08:58

Eat out to spread Covid and costa del ignore isolating was to blame. Not going to individual shops.
