FFS just because you CAN go to 'The Range' doesn't mean you should

Nor any of the other shops unfairly dodging the lockdown closure by claiming they are essential (someone on another thread's, local shoe shop, local branch of Next) etc.

It's bloody ridiculous. The more we are out and about, the more this virus has a chance to keep spreading. Don't click and collect from your local business, place orders online from them or phone up and arrange delivery.

Just stop f**king going out. If you don't HAVE to go out for work, essential shopping - ie food or medicine, just stay at home.

If you don't, don't moan when bloody Boris is on our screens on 2nd December saying the lockdown is extended.

OP calm your tits, are you secretly a covid marshall? Wouldn't blame you if you were, the pay is pretty decent

@Torri67

Just because you can type a goady, moany, guilt-tripping thread on the internet, doesn't mean you should.

It's what the internet is for surely?

And it's a thread born of frustration. Total and utter frustration at the stupid, selfish behaviour of people in the UK (as so beautifully demonstrated by poster on this thread).

If you lose a relative or friend or someone you know does, do remember that you were part of the body of people who felt going shopping was more important than contributing to the national effort to stop the spread of the virus Hmm. Really, do remember that.

So if someone I love dies, you’ll feel justified in saying “told you so!” because I went to the range? ODFOD.
Willow2017 · 05/11/2020 18:20

Just shop online. I've seen more of the local courier in the last six months than I've seen of my own mother.

Good thing minimum wage couriers and warehouse staff aren't being told to 'stay safe' or 'stay the fuck home', isn't it?

Yes and all those supermarket staff doing your shopping for you, working surrounded by 100s of people a day. Maybe they should all get paid to stay at home too?

Covidiot · 05/11/2020 18:20

I’d fucking love to know the IQ of some posting here.

bendmeoverbackwards · 05/11/2020 18:21

Enough.
Fedup21 · 05/11/2020 18:30

You’re angry at the wrong people. If the government say that The Range is safe and allowed to be open, people will go and shop there. If you’re not happy with that-blame the government.

Personally, I don’t think it matters a shiny shit to the covid numbers if places like the Range is open with a handful of socially distanced customers inside all wearing masks. It’s the hundreds and thousands of kids and staff jam packed into schools that are going to make the lockdown last well into next year you want to be looking at

IcedPurple · 05/11/2020 18:43

I'm not the 'non-essential' Stasi here. I'm happy for people to shop wherever they want. I think 'non-essential' retail should have been allowed to remain open and I certainly don't think people should be reprimanded for buying 'non-essential' items in shops which are open.

I'm just laughing at the 'stay the fuck home and order online' brigade. They don't seem to mind minimum wage warehouse workers and couriers being out and about to service their 'needs'.

randomer · 05/11/2020 19:01

IQ has been largely discredited as a measure of intelligence. But no matter we have a virus which can tell the time, distinguish between friend or foe and responds well to mask wearing ( unless there's a cheap meal on offer)

Sorry my post wasnt aimed at you but the other poster and those that keep banging on about just get a home delivery because that way they can stay home and those invisible 'others' do the work for them.

You’re completely miSsing the point. They get paid to do this (leaving aside minimum wage point which is irrelevant here). The whole point of lockdown is that we - who don’t get paid to go shopping - get some else - who does get paid to do it. We get fed, they get paid (and don’t lose their job) and the number of people mixing is reduced significantly therefore limiting (but not eliminating) the transmission of the virus.

“the rules” before lockdown were meant to allow as many people as possible to carry on working when they couldn’t WFH. Fewer people mixing, lower transmission. But apparently that is too much for some to understand.

The government has screwed up, but so are individuals who are refusing to act responsibly.

IcedPurple · 05/11/2020 19:39

No, that is not the 'whole point'. It's not the 'point' at all.

We get fed, they get paid (and don’t lose their job)

It's not about 'getting fed' though is it? Have you not read the posts saying that it's fine that we can't buy 'nonessentials' in shops because we can simply order online. Therefore, people are saying we should have people mixing (in warehouses, sorting offices and so on) in order to bring 'non-essentials' to their doors. So no 'stay the fuck home' and 'FS can you not survive 4 weeks without scented candles or duvets' when it comes to their convenience.

so are individuals who are refusing to act responsibly.

You mean, people who don't follow the faux roolz made up by 'Covidiot'?

If a shop is open, it is allowed to sell 'non-essentials' and people are allowed to purchase them. You may live off bread, dripping and smug for as long as you like, but you have precisely zero authority to tell others what to do.

@FractionalGains

Please feel free to substitute the phrase ‘tacky shit’ if it makes you feel it’s keeping the topic of the thread on track

Still wouldn’t be relevant to the thread unless you’d feel differently if people were buying scented candles at White Company. It’s a cheap shot at the people who like to shop there.

Well, it IS about the people who shop there, who judging by this thread are a rum bunch who aren’t bothered about the NHS being overrun or rising infections and like to buy tacky shit.

I doubt White Company is open, as scented candles aren’t essential.

Not sure what your point is, really. I think you’re trying to make me out to be some sort of middle class snob, which is pointless as it’s not something I even attempt to hide.

Have a good evening.

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 19:55

You’re really not reading the thread. People aren’t convinced that retail is a driver of infection, which is a view that the Sage minutes back up.

Covidiot · 05/11/2020 19:55

I concur 100%. I have no authority whatsoever to tell anyone what to do.

But I do have the right to express my opinion which is that because thick-as-pigshit fuckwits couldn’t understand the significance of guidelines, we now have to have fucking roolz. I don’t want these roolz either but I have to live with them because of the stupidity and/or selfishness Of others.

It's interesting that you clearly consider yourself vastly intellectually (and morally) superior to "thick-as-pigshit fuckwits", yet you are apparently unaware that retail - including the dreaded, covidioty 'non-essential' retail - has not been implicated in any major outbreaks.

And to repeat for the benefit of all the thick-as-pigshit fuckwits, if a shop is open and is selling certain items, purchasing those items is not in violation of any sacred 'guidelines'.

What happened to Covid Marshalls? Did the govt quietly drop that idiotic Stasi-esque idea?
shinynewapple2020 · 05/11/2020 20:14

@Theredjellybean it may be worth having a look round any local parks in your vicinity which have municipal tennis courts . Ours were still open when I walked round the park this morning, as was the outdoor gym equipment , although it's possible they just hadn't got round to taping it all up .

We’ve just got 8 new ones here in Bristol

Twattergy · 05/11/2020 20:20

OP look at the stats and get your knickers in a twist about universities, care homes and people gathering in large multi family groups in their own homes (I mean like 15 plus people in unnventilated rooms). People popping to the shops isn't driving this virus. But of course it is easier to get angry with them coz you see it with your own eyes.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 05/11/2020 20:26

OP is one of those people that believe if we are all good boys and girls and do as we are told, covid will go away and we wont be grounded any more
