There’s no virus really- conspiracy.

So I’m a little slow to the mark as I don’t use social media but recently been told on FB there are these huge communities coming together over the idea that the virus isn’t real and this is all a way for the government to control us.

I’m personally not one for conspiracy theories however I do find it interesting in people’s beliefs around them.

The idea seems to be that the government want to track and trace each individual by injecting us with this type of device....if this was true and we did all become ‘controlled’ what do people believe would happen after that? As I genuinely can’t work it out, what advantage the government would have tracing us??? (Other than criminals and fraudulent people being at a disadvantage, I can’t see why it would matter if they did know where we was, as they do anyway from our phones).

Ideas and thoughts welcome as this has caught my interest in what the big plot is!

People seek alternative theories for stuff all the time as they want to believe something means something or is more exciting when really it's just what it is.
Married to a (rather stressed, exhausted and overworked atm) hospital dr so I get a bit fed up when my brother tells me the virus is a hoax and that I'm just falling for gov/media propaganda. I guess DH is just imagining his workload atm.

Can’t see why a government would want to control the population to that extent.
They just want to make money and how things were pre covid was achieving that ! Why would they want to ruin the economy in the pursuit of total control.

I'd quite like those people to have come to our home when me and DP had the virus to a) see what we were like and b) catch it and feel it for themselves.

I'd also have liked them to talk to my grandad, who was so weak I could barely hear him on the phone. He spent 2 weeks in hospital and was still incredibly weak and thin even when he was allowed home.

I'd really, really like to be lucky enough to have had sufficiently little contact with the virus to believe it was a hoax.

9 times out 10 these conspiracy theorists post these ridiculous theories using the smart phone that they carry with them everywhere. We don't need to be chipped to be tracked these days

Trust me, the damage to my previously very healthy lungs is very real.

Conspiracy theories have been around for a long time about lots of different things. They are not worth your time or energy. At least flat Earthers are entertaining.

Because as a free citizen you are entitled to a private life.

Got lost on a walk and accidentally walked across a Duke's field to get back to the road, that will be £600 trespass fee please.

There would be no free press, oh you met with that journalist to expose wrongdoing with your bosses dumping chemicals in that river, well we know it's you you will never work again.

Yes you can be tracked from your phone but it's not compulsory to have one and if people want that data they have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it.

Individuals could be blackmailed into all sorts of stuff "rather than there whereabouts" be exposed.

There is A LOT wrong with being microchipped, which is why this particular conspiracy theory gets a few people very overexcited.

BUT it's clearly nonsense.

My cat is microchipped and she seems fine.

I mean honestly, our government wouldn't know what to do with all of that information.

No government is organised enough or even intelligent enough to have some kind of conspiracy going on. The country is run by muppets, so people who believe in these kinds of things are muppets as well.

I think there's always a subset of borderline paranoid people who live their lives being suspicious of everything and who like to feel superior to everyone else - the 'normies' or 'sheeple' sort of thing.

By all means examine things critically, but don't believe in shite.

If the governments really wanted to control us, to what end? If they wanted rid of us they’d have better means to do so already. Governments are made up of the idiots and some decent types you’d meet on the street - would be impressed if any of them could manage to pull off anything so strategically difficult!!

I have a friend who sends me these conspiracy things almost daily (which I then pick apart and provide evidence for why they are wrong). Funny as they seem to believe it was created by china/new world order whatever while at the same time saying it isn't a virus and its just lots of other conditions being diagnosed as covid because of bad tests. Both can't be true!

There's a big plot to sell the virus as a conspiracy. This has the advantage of undermining confidence in public institutions. Great if you're a Russian propaganda machine or hold views that "The Establishment" needs to be torn apart.

Given this Government's record on coming up with a working track and trace system I am not particularly concerned about this...
