So with the new lockdown rules from Thursday it says you can meet one other person who is from another household outdoors, does that mean I can meet with my DS another person with her DS? 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Xley90 with a babe in arms that is preferably in a sling or a pushchair and is otherwise stick to your boob so long as you really do keep your distance I would still meet up.

At that age babies really are still an extension of you.

itsgettingweird · 01/11/2020 12:13

Apparently parks are not closing. So you can meet there with the children.

I suppose they can't justify shutting parks when they aren't shutting schools. Although they are closing children's sports activities.

PurpleDaisies · 01/11/2020 12:22

Here are the guidelines.

www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november

Some relevant parts got anyone still confused about whether this is only for those in support bubbles or thinking this is just for exercise.

  1. Stay at home.
This means you must not leave or be outside of your home except for specific purposes. These include:.... .... to exercise outdoors or visit an outdoor public place - with the people you live with, with your support bubble or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household.
  1. Meeting with family and friends
You must not meet socially indoors with family or friends unless they are part of your household - meaning the people you live with - or support bubble.... .... You can exercise or visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble, or 1 person from another household.

Meeting one person new rule does that include kids?
RonaLisa · 01/11/2020 12:53

@Ecosse

I see were already back to the mumsnet ‘rules’ where you’re only allowed 1 15 minute walk per week and bread and milk are not essentials.

The actual rules state that you can meet one other person in a park or public space, not just for exercise. The risk outdoors is absolutely minimal in any event.

You can exercise or visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble, or 1 person from another household.

Outdoor public places include:

parks, beaches, countryside,
public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them), allotments
playgrounds

Has anyone said "JUST STAY THE FUCK AT HOME" yet?

I'm not RTFT because I can't bear the rudeness.

PurpleDaisies
Where does it say in the guidelines it’s for people living alone? (referring to one person meeting another person outside)
There's a whole bit on it which you would have seen if you'd bothered to read them.

@crazyfrogs please could you refer me to the part where it says meeting in twos only applies to people living alone? I thought I’d read all the guidelines but didn’t see this.

MrsFezziwig · 01/11/2020 13:28

Men can go on bike rides with a mate but a mum at home all day with a screaming baby still can't see a friend.

If your DH wants to go for a bike ride with a mate rather than parent his children, that’s something you need to address, not insult older people who may not be seeing anyone day in day out.

Ginogineli · 01/11/2020 13:59

One family
One family support group
One individual

Can all meet one person

So one family can meet a gp or one friend

Or one family, a man living alone (support bubble) can all meet one person

Ginogineli · 01/11/2020 13:59

As in all together

OverTheRubicon · 01/11/2020 14:25

@Ginogineli

No you can't. Because if you, your DH and your 2 DCs met with your friend Betty, you might be meeting with one other person, but she'd be meeting with 4.

It's 2 people, unless you are in a support bubble together.

Can you point to where it says this in the new guidelines?
GrumpySausage · 01/11/2020 15:53

It's now being reported in the press that pre school children will be exempt from the 2 person rule.

Mirror and guardian have both ran storied and Nadine Dorries has tweeted it.

Great campaigning from Pregnant and Screwed.

Bambooble · 01/11/2020 16:05

Yeah apparently if under school age they don't count wahoo!

Becuna · 01/11/2020 16:24

Really, have people lost their fucking minds? A PP being told her 3 month old baby is counted as a person as far as the rules go and she cannot meet anyone else. Where has common sense gone?
Of course you can meet with another adult outside for a walk and your baby can go as well.

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 16:26

Hi OP yes it does...

Just seen this online on the news in case helps

Children under school age exempt from some Covid-19 rules, says Health Minister
Health Minister Nadine Dorries has said children under school age who are with their parents will not count towards the limit on two people meeting outside.

Children and adults who are dependent on round-the-clock care, such as those with severe disabilities, will also be included, she added.

Children under school age who are with their parents will not count towards the limit on two people meeting outside. This will mean that a parent can see a friend or family member with their baby or young children.

A rare injection of sanity into this shit show.

I wonder where all the “is your child a person?” rude posters are now?

Dongdingdong · 01/11/2020 18:47

I wonder where all the “is your child a person?” rude posters are now?

I was one of them. OP I wholeheartedly apologise!

Sitt · 01/11/2020 18:56

Fair play to you! :)

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 01/11/2020 19:00

Just follow the bloody rules! We will have an extended lockdown as we seem to have posters who like JacK Sparrow think rules are more like guidelines, not for the likes of them to follow but others have to.

If schools get closed because you lots can’t be arsed to follow rules I will be bloody annoyed. Stop being so precious....

SorrelBlackbeak · 01/11/2020 19:15

Why the hashtags? Weird.

I'm sure the op will be following the clarified rules which make it clear she can take her pre-school child and meet up with a friend and her pre-school child.

dryoldparty · 01/11/2020 19:25

@StaffAssociationRepresentative you represent every hysterical lockdown craving old bastard on every Facebook group going.

I'm not following the rules, isolation away from mum almost buried me last time. I will see my parents with the children. If schools and universities can carry on, I'm seeing my parents. I'm on mat leave and they are both retired. The "risk" of viral spread is absolutely not there. To fuck am I doing a number on my mental health to #savechristmas for you.

Woui · 01/11/2020 19:45

Native Dorries has tweeted saying under school age kids don't count.
