How long did your test results take?

Hi, I started with a sore throat on Monday and a snotty nose (great way to start the half term), but on Wednesday evening I couldn’t taste or smell the dinner. I arranged a test for Thursday morning at 10.30 at a mobile site in the hope that the results would be back in 24-48 hours. My symptoms are improving slightly, sore throat is gone and I can now smell and taste much more but I have developed a cough (not persistent though). Can anyone tell me how long results are currently taking? It was done in Hemel Hempstead.

Just got DS's result (negative), it took about 36 hrs so not bad.

It's ridiculous that some results are taking days and days, what on earth are they doing with them?!

11 hours. I'm in NI

Phone up at 13:00. Got appointment at a test centre at 15:30. Brutally swabbed my toddler. Had results by 11:00 next day. In Scotland though. Hope you get yours back soon x

It seems like there’s huge regional variation. Just not good enough if we want to stay on top of this.

Was tested Wednesday at 9am, results back Friday 7am - walk through site in Hampshire.

Husband tested 10:30am yesterday, result at 11pm same day. Im now home for a fortnight! Lancashire

A week ago, drive through test, 41 hours, southwest England

DDs negative result came through at 6pm. Was tested Thursday morning. South Wales.

Two days for an inconclusive result. 4 days for second test

Dd was tested Wednesday lunchtime, results back Thursday morning. Were in Lincolnshire.

Ordered test, received it next day from amazon. Did test, recorded on line, posted in an NHS priority marked post box (you can find them on Royal Mail website but all info is in the vivid test box ) - got email two days later and test day after that. My son tested positive but my daughter, their dad and o were all negative! My son (15) thankfully 😅 not had a minor annoying cough but wasn't 'ill'

Just over 2 weeks ago, London, walk through, took 85 hours (positive result). Rest of family tested a couple of days later and took 58-60 hours to get results.

Received a positive result today 23 hours after testing

62 hours in Bristol last week 😬

Any luck yet? I called 119 today but they won’t escalate it until after 5 days.

@3littlebird5 no luck yet. Tbh I doubt they’ll escalate it even then. I called too and was told they are inundated. I’ll try tomorrow again. They told me you just have to wait. I wonder at which point they’d consider it lost and ask you to do it again. Who knows. It is hard to even get annoyed with the people on the other end of the phone as they are as responsible as I am. Shambles and shit hitting the fan, methinks.

Ours done on 14th at a drive through took 7 days can only hope times have improved since then

OP have you had your results yet? We had a test at Hemel on Thursday too and still waiting. So frustrating.

Hi, No I still haven’t heard anything. I’m going to ring 119 again tomorrow but will probably be just told to wait. It’s so poor. I understand they’re busy but this is ridiculous now. I hope you hear something soon.

I really hope we all get a nice shiny text in the morning saying “negative”. Good luck guys!

The waiting is such a killer. I have not been so impatient and obsessively looking at my phone since I was a teenager. Waste of a good week.

@3littlebird5 fongers xed we get a big fat negative soon. Although I am 99.9% sure we have a positive.
