I've just woke up and read we may be heading for a National lockdown

I think I must have been living under a rock the last few days as this is the first I've heard of it.

I've tried not to read the news too much as it just worries me.

I'm really in a panic now. How will we all get through a winter lockdown? The summer one was bad enough but at least we had the sun and bright days.

I was so happy to have my job back, my company will not survive another full lockdown.

If the school close I feel that will be disastrous. My dc have loved being back and have literally skipped into school every day since September. I really hope the schools will stay open.

How the hell can I organize Christmas like this!

I can feel myself getting really stressed out and worried about everything.

I can't believe I couldn't see this coming sooner!

@Maybenexttime08

We're meant to be moving into a new build at the end of November. I presume that will now be off the cards. Gutted
Don't lose hope. I think our lockdown will be 'soft' and things like this will be able to go ahead with Covid measures in place.
Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 31/10/2020 09:40

And it needs to be enough vitamin D. The amount I’m your multi Vit is woeful. Even the RDA is too low.

How many people know this?

NewCatMummy · 31/10/2020 09:41

Anyone know if shielding will be back? I’m working in a secondary school and extremely clinically vulnerable.

cuparfull · 31/10/2020 09:42

@Racoonworld

I can’t do another lockdown. I had a baby in summer and have just got back a tiny bit of normality meeting friends occasionally. We have no family to help. I can’t have no help at all now I already suffer from mental health issues I won’t survive this.
You will because you must. You have a child. Look for online support networks and speak to your Health Team. You are doing this for not just yourself now.Flowers
SqidgeBum · 31/10/2020 09:43

I am about to give birth. My due date is monday. I am facing a dark, wet, miserable winter without parks to go to if its lashing rain, or softplay, or playgroups, or seeing any family or friends. I dont have school or work to keep a sense of a routine or keep my kids mental health going. I have to somehow entertain and fulfill a 2 year old within 4 walls all day, with a newborn, alone.

I am so done with this. So utterly done.

Vinorosso74 · 31/10/2020 09:44

My heart sank when I saw this. I don't know why the government keep ignoring the scientists who advised a two week lockdown around half term. (Actually, I do know why as they're arrogant dicks). Two weeks could have been manageable but a longer one again, no.

TheGinGenie · 31/10/2020 09:44

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss You really think this is our government trying their best? They don't even follow their own rules.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/10/2020 09:45

@WingBingo

Mum mums funeral is on 13th November, I’m worried about that now.

We can only have 20 guests according to current guidelines, I really hope that doesn’t change.

I'm sorry to hear about your mum (((HUG))). Unfortunately I imagine it'll go down to 15, maybe 10, but we did my Aunties on line and although it was hard not being there, it wasn't as bad as it sounds, it still felt like we'd been there.

You could have a celebration of life/remembrance day in the summer.

I'm sorry you're having to be arranging anything xx

etopp · 31/10/2020 09:51

@Frauhubert

Hurrrah, we will be locked up till spring, then two weeks later ‘oh dear, the virus is spreading again, what a complete surprise. Everybody back in the house!’ I am done with this shit so bad. I have lost everything. My business that i worked for the last 12 years, my sanity, i can’t take this anymore. I see the spring insomnia rolling in again where i lied awake till 4am every night. Oh great. I can’t wait for another lockdown to ‘save lives’. Mine is done now
Same here.
CoronaIsWatching · 31/10/2020 09:52

It's only a lockdown if you listen to what a government full of clowns tells you to do. Just do what you want.

alloutofducks · 31/10/2020 09:53

I can't believe they're listening to Niall Ferguson again, given that I'm not aware that he has ever made an accurate prediction (and didn't abide by the bastarding rules last time).

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 31/10/2020 09:55

Just woken up to this too. Fucking pissed off that we have to go through another 5 days of fucking drip feeding of what this lockdown will be so 5 more days in limbo. I hate hate hate it. I just wish if they are going to announce it then just do so. Stop the fucking drip feeding as it is massively damaging to mental health, feeling so anxious and on edge all the time.
I have an appointment to look around a gym today with the intention of signing up (trying to shift the first lockdown belly!) And now I'm not sure if I should or not. So life goes back on hold and I panic buy all Christmas presents instead.
Fucking government.

(Sorry for the rant, needed to - yet again - get that off my chest!)

pontypridd · 31/10/2020 09:56

How much Vitamin D should we be taking?

And in what form?

Where did you hear of this?

Hyperfish101 · 31/10/2020 09:57

i am pretty sure they will open up for Xmas. For December with any luck.

Lau52 · 31/10/2020 09:58

Everyone is fed up, everyone is done. But if people continue to ignore rules the virus will keep spreading. We will continue to go into lockdowns. Other countries have managed to control virus and life more or less back to normal and economies growing. We are too late for 2 week circuit break now, it's not enough to control virus. So this will be for one month. Hopefully if ruled followed. Science says numbers will reduce. Other countries doing same with less numbers. Why can't everyone work together to try and control the virus. Hospitalisation have increased in females aged 18 to 40 plenty of these young, fit and healthy. So let's realise virus doesn't just effect old or vulnerable. Who knows what going happen over next few months or years. But to keep my family and others safe I will do what it takes. We will get through this, respect and be grateful for our key workers. Keep virus controlled, then hospital admissions lessen and people with other health issues can get the help and treatment they need and deserve.

TheNewLook · 31/10/2020 09:59

I’m another one infuriated and depressed by this. I’m not particularly interested in “saving the NHS” anymore. I won’t be clapping. I’m completely fed up. If they close primary schools I don’t know how working parents will cope again. Working from 6am to do a few hours before remote-learning begins, meetings at lunch-time then staying up half the night trying to fit in a day’s work. It barely worked in the summer when at least the children could play in the garden and amuse themselves. Indoors in the winter? Hopeless.

Poor children. They are the victims here. They don’t deserve to have to go through this again.

TheHobbitMum · 31/10/2020 10:00

@NewCatMummy

Anyone know if shielding will be back? I’m working in a secondary school and extremely clinically vulnerable.
I doubt it sadly, the official guidance was changed 3 days ago to say shielding only in high risk areas and for few conditions. They kept the update quiet but you can read it in the gov shielding advice page (I was also shielding)

I'll still be working knowing I could get ill from the hundreds on people around me each day Sad

EmmaGrundyForPM · 31/10/2020 10:07

@userxx

The theory is this will.be for 4 week

You've got to be kidding.

I'm not saying I believe it, I'm saying that that is what the media leaks from "Government sources" are saying.
ConfusedcomMum · 31/10/2020 10:11

I've got a feeling it will be extended and finished just before Christmas eve...

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/10/2020 10:12

@ukgift2016

Complete and utter joke. What about all the life's lost to mental health? To the flu? To undetected/untreated cancer?

Shame on the government. Also I don't see any hospitals being overrun, they have always been brimming to capacity. This was a disaster waiting to happen.

I certainly have lost my goodwill in following the coranvirus rules. Fuck you.

Clearly you're struggling wuth your MH & I'm sorry about that 🌷

But if the country & thus the NHS us over run with Covid, there won't be any cancer/MH/other treatment going on and any emergency care fir heart attacks/strokes/car accidents etc will be severely limited. It's important to try to keep COVID under control to protect all aspects of the NHS.

Some hospitals are already overwhelmed, if you can't see that, you're not looking hard enough

YES, it's a disaster waiting to happen, so we NEED to do what we can to help.

The Govt have made many mistakes & will continue to do so, but your 'goodwill' is for the people, not the govt!

Look after yourself, but also do the right thing & look after others.

FreshfieldsGal · 31/10/2020 10:12

For Vitamin D, it needs to be D3. Ideally combined with Vit K2 to prevent any build up.
I take 4000iu one day, 8000iu the next (but my levels were severely deficient anyway.)
DH takes 4000iu.
DS has the Vit D spray.
I buy mine from Amazon.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 31/10/2020 10:16

@SqidgeBum good luck with your birth. Please don’t worry too much, with a toddler and newborn there’s lots of feeding /napping to be done so you end up a housebound regardless & please don’t worry if you all survive on CBeebies for a while.

OP I’m sorry this has come as a surprise to you but it was obviously coming in England as the scientists and medics have said it was necessary since Sept. The rest of Europe and our immediate neighbours in Scotland, Wales, NI and Ireland have already acted. Johnson dug his heels in this month & said it would not be a national lockdown which obviously means u-turn and imminent lockdown. Johnson told us in March this country would have sent Coronavirus packing in 12weeks. He later predicted a close to normal Autumn. He’s not very good as a fortune teller.

Like a pp am so sick of the Government leaking these announcements to the press. Surely during a national pandemic we should have at least a scheduled weekly address from the PM! He’s been conspicuously absent this week.

The Government have made some bad calls during this. I’m not surprised cases have been rising though given that people in my area are still intent on doing Halloween trick or treating as normal. Some people are completely unwilling to reduce their non essential contacts.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/10/2020 10:16

@CallmeFP

Agree that the half term lock down would have been better than this. Does really think it’ll be lifted on 1st Dec?

I read yesterday that they’re planning on letting people mix for a couple of days over Xmas.

Well, bloody good of the virus to agree not to be transmitted as long as it 'Christmas' FFS. People really need to use their brains.

IF someone is going to be in a bad way if they're on there own, then yes, let them join a family, BUT people really do not need to see loads if people. Yes, it'll be different, yes you'll miss people, yes it's a shame. But FFS it's ONE DAY. Is it really worth a horrendous loss of life in jan/Feb?

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 31/10/2020 10:23

I know Witches, it’s one day and the consequences after will be horrendous if everyone is free to socialise as they please or do anyway.

I don’t know why anyone would want to risk it, apart from spending last Christmas will a very ill relative. Who would want to risk their own family members getting it and living with that. Surely then it impacts on every Christmas going forward if the worst happens.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/10/2020 10:23

@AlecTrevelyan006

It’s a complete waste of time and will only further damage an already fragile economy

Many more people will lose their jobs. The long term damage we are inflicting upon ourselves is madness

Yeah. Saving lives- such a 'waste of time'

Months of people explaining that a massive death rate will not only damage an economy, but peoples MH still hasn't got through to you.

It's not difficult to understand, fuck me, even bloody Boris gets that.
