Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Day 13 here. All better. Nothing bad really happened. Lost taste and smell on day 4ish and it’s back mostly now. Had aches and headache and a couple of days was dog tired but that’s all. Feel very lucky. Hope everyone else gets through it well xx

ScottishDream · 14/11/2020 18:39

Day 14 from test, 16 from symptoms today for me. I have the remains of a dry cough, and a bit of fatigue, but I’m recovered otherwise.
I hope everyone else has a quick recovery.

BellatrixLestat · 14/11/2020 18:47

Had a test today.

Had a headache and felt generally 'off' all day. Started to feel a bit shivery at around 3pm and temp was 38.9. Booked test and had it at 4pm. Hopefully have results by tomorrow.

No other symptoms.

Ladylimpet · 14/11/2020 19:02

I've just lost my sense of smell today. 6 days on from start of achy symptoms. Not feeling great. I can relate to pp who said they don't know what to do with themselves. I'm overtired and need sleep, but I just can't.

lulabelleread · 14/11/2020 20:19

After my awful night, I finally fell asleep and woke with a start hallucinating and in a pool of sweat, then fell back to sleep until this afternoon. I'm still feeling gross this evening, it's almost as if I can't find the words to explain just how gross I feel. I'm trying Manuka honey now in the hope that will help - has anyone been taking anything they can recommend? Today marks a week since my test, and 6 days since positive so surely it's got to be on the up soon!!

lulabelleread · 14/11/2020 20:21

Oh and to top it off... I finally lost my sense of taste today to go with the smell!! Not that I've been eating much anymore but now it's even stranger to try!

Livelovebehappy · 14/11/2020 22:05

lulabelleread it’s awful isn’t it? I started with symptoms a week ago and went for a test on Tuesday, and got back positive result Wednesday. I felt I had it pretty mild, as apart from throbbing headache and a cough, I felt fine. Yesterday it kicked in worse. And I lost my taste. It’s not like when you get a cold and lose your taste, this is different, and I’m really struggling to actually eat as certain food textures are making me gag. Then today I have phlegm which appears to be partway down my throat, which I can’t cough up, but which just sits there. And now I’m stressing about it as thinking it might start affecting my lungs. I feel like I’m going into meltdown with it all, but I need to get a grip don’t I? Anyone else got the phlegm on the chest thing, anD is there anything I can do to clear it? I’ve tried bronchial medicine and breathing exercises, but nothing shifting it.

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 22:54

I've taken kali mur salts. Vitamin C D and B12 spray. Zinc. Apple cider vinegar in lungwort tea to clear passages. I haven't suffered much with the cough. No fever.

I feel more or less back to normal now. Day 8. Just hope I don't dip? I'm back to work Tue.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 15/11/2020 06:35

The hallucinations are what stops me sleeping - I wish someone could just knock me out. I started having serious dread yesterday that it will never ease up, the thought of more endless hours feeling like I'm dying fills me with horror. DH now has body pains.

I felt more human for a few hours yesterday, then it slipped back again.

Ladylimpet · 15/11/2020 07:39

I had co-codamol last night as from experience they can make me feel a bit drowsy. So, I took those. Thinking they'll help with the aches and pains and hopefully I might get some sleep. Can't say I slept all night, but I got a decent amount of sleep. I really needed that. Less bunged up this morning, but can feel my throat getting sore? It's so weird this virus. It's like you can actually imagine it going round the body trying to attack everything especially with all the different symptoms. (Which I suppose it's just what a virus is!).

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/11/2020 07:47

I tested positive on October 30.

My household is participating in a test trial (weekly testing) or I would never have known. The other 3 adults in my household were negative.

In hindsight I felt like I had a cold. (which I might have had) bit achey and a headache. No real obvious covid symptoms-am left wondering if it was a false positive or if I had it mildly/asymptomatically.

As part of the study I am meant to get an antibody test if I test positive but have not heard anything about that.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 15/11/2020 08:27

Oh splendid, the orange diarrhoea has just made an appearance. Thank you, thank you so bloody much.

I'd kill for something to make me drowsy enough to sleep (not right now as I might poo myself), all I can find in the cupboard is Zapain? Pretty sure I shouldn't take that on an empty stomach, and I certainly don't feel like eating anything.

hellsbells99 · 15/11/2020 08:29

BillyDaveysDaughter have you got any piriton? I find that really helps me sleep. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Lovemusic33 · 15/11/2020 08:32

My test came back negative a few days ago but I have had all the symptoms, went back to work, sent kids back to school now dd2 has a bad stomach (can the runs be a symptom?) and he school emailed to say there's s case at school. Im still feeling tired, funny taste in my mouth and achy, cough is slowly disappearing. How accurate are the tests? I'm unsure whether to trust it. I am a care worker but my boss says I can return as my test was negative, im worried its wrong and I could pass it on to tue person im caring for.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 15/11/2020 08:47

That's a good shout Hellsbells, yes I think I have.

Actually, although I still feel rotten and my back is agony, the headache has lifted for the first time in 3 days, and I was just able to have a very short wash in the shower and scrub a toothbrush round my mouth.

But yesterday I felt a lot better in the morning, and by the afternoon was back to hallucinating and feeling like I was dying - I'm really hoping I'm improving but nervous of being too confident!

The track and trace people wouldn't stop texting me to say I need to complete details of my movements prior to getting symptoms - I could barely look at my phone yesterday but they keep on texting me so I've done it now.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/11/2020 10:19

@Lovemusic33 you have classic symptoms. I'd do another test in your situation and given your job. If you get a negative result but still have symptoms you are supposed to continue isolating anyway.

@Ladylimpet I agree, I felt it attacking every system in my body: digestive, respiratory, neurological. Some women report disruption to their periods too. I am
Incredibly thankful that I had a mild case because the combination of all those symptoms would have been overwhelming if any of them had been much worse.

Sorry some of you are feeling very unwell. Get plenty of rest. Thanks

Lovemusic33 · 15/11/2020 10:37

I have had symptoms since last weekend so even if I test again I doubt it would show up as a positive now? I am almost better (just tired and achy).

incognitomum · 15/11/2020 11:36

Morning all.

I didn't sleep well again do will try the piriton tip too.

@BillyDaveysDaughter those hallucinations sound awful. Have you told dr ot 111?

Ladylimpet · 15/11/2020 11:46

My first test was negative, and I'd started with symptoms. Although in hindsight I'd tested too early. I just knew I had it though as the days went by. It's different from a cold. Sure enough, second test was positive.

incognitomum · 15/11/2020 11:58

Same my first test was negative.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 15/11/2020 12:18

incognitomum no I haven't - my thermometer still insists I don't have a temperature, so I don't know why my thoughts and semi-waking dreams were stuck in such a bizarre loop. DH says I mumbled yesterday that I felt like I was getting brain damage!

The brain weirdness has eased up now, and although I still have painful pressure the splitting head has lifted. In fact I've just watched the whole of Dirty Dancing, when I couldn't even listen to a guided meditation in the night.

I do feel like I've been hit by a train though. I'm just grateful that I feel a little better, long may it last.

student26 · 15/11/2020 14:24

Realised this afternoon that I had barely any sense of smell yet no blocked nose, no loss of taste either. Feel like I’ve got slight sinus pressure. Kids have both had runny noses and colds and I’m surprised I haven’t got anything like that. I’m debating getting a test. How long do results take to get back?

incognitomum · 15/11/2020 14:53

BillyDaveysDaughter that's good then.

student26 it didn't take long less than 24 hours.

blobbyface · 16/11/2020 09:59

I'm on day 10 today. Feel a lot more myself. Still tired and out of breath when I go upstairs etc.. I've been worrying about work tomorrow - 12 hour shift and on my feet all day. I don't feel ill enough not to go, but worried about my stamina! Hope everyone else is doing ok.

incognitomum · 16/11/2020 10:43

@blobbyface if you can you should have another week off. Ting your gp and tell them how you feel. I'm back at work tomorrow but don't have to be on my feet much and it's a short shift.
