Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

I lost it for a few days, specifically I couldn't taste sweetness at all, but now it seems to come and go.

incognitomum · 13/11/2020 21:40

I lost sense of smell for 6 days. Taste the same except I could taste sweet and salty.

GreatSoprendo · 13/11/2020 21:56

I’m on day 4 and would say smell and taste is coming and going. Mine has never gone completely though, it’s just very dulled.

cherrytreeblossom · 13/11/2020 22:04

I think I'm a month on now from first symptoms and I'm still floored

Anyone else not getting better ?

incognitomum · 13/11/2020 22:35

@cherrytreeblossom are you taking any supplements?

cherrytreeblossom · 13/11/2020 22:39

Yes - lots !

Vitamin c + zinc drink every day
Vitamin d spray
Magnesium
Immune supplement (including tumeric , B12 etc)

DottyWott · 13/11/2020 22:45

Yes me cherrytreeblossom. 3 weeks. Feel worse.

incognitomum · 13/11/2020 22:59

cherrytreeblossom have you spoken to your gp?

lulabelleread · 14/11/2020 02:11

I'm awake now feeling awful, felt pretty rough all week but managed to get out of bed yesterday and had a bit more energy. Difficult to fall asleep this evening as my nose was blocked up but I must have, and woke up about half an hour ago uncontrollably shivering where I was so cold, horrific kidney pain and generally feeling sick. Am now propped up on the sofa so I don't wake up DP. Anyone else feel like they're just not getting better? My 10 days isolation is up next week and work are expecting me back and I can't think of anything worse right now :(

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 02:42

@lulabelleread if you don't feel up to going back to work don't. Get a sick note. This is a very strange virus. It's affecting people in so many ways. You need to rest. Is there someone there to help you?

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 02:43

Sorry you said dp is there.

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 02:44

lulabelleread can you put a urine sample in to be tested? Maybe ring 111 too.

lulabelleread · 14/11/2020 03:11

Yes, DP is here I just feel bad waking her up as I know she is knackered from this week taking care of me. Somehow she's managed to escape which which is brilliant as I wouldn't wish it upon an enemy! I caught it from school (teacher) and so many of us have gone down so I'm aware that I'm needed back but I don't know how I'd even do a full day at the moment. We called 111 on Thursday and they came out and said that my obs were okay, they had a question mark on my ECG but went and called someone and it was fine and said I had inflammation in the muscles in between my ribs and to take cocodamol, so I feel bad calling again, but I will do if it doesn't improve. I'm a grown adult, engaged and haven't lived at home for several years but this virus is still making me want my mum to come and look after me!!!
Ladylimpet · 14/11/2020 03:44

Hope you feel better soon lulabelle!
Another broken nights sleep. I don't know what day I'm on. Tested positive on 12, and started with being achy on 8/9? I still don't have any of the 3 main 'covid symptoms'. I got a test as 2 colleagues I closely worked with tested positive.
I too had kidney pain and one night I thought I'd never stop tripping to the loo! Very bunged up, chesty and in general pain now.
Did anyone else get a funny sensation in the mouth? Like an anaesthetic wearing off? Slight numbness in tongue. Very odd. Just wondering when I'll feel better ☹️

Bonkerz · 14/11/2020 04:08

So I need to join. As a key worker did a test Wednesday along with my children. No symptoms here except a sore throat and all 3 of us are positive. Have now had to close my buisness thankfully just for a week but I feel guilty.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 14/11/2020 06:22

My test result came back positive this morning. Thanks for the reassurance yesterday, I didn't feel well enough to type but I did read the comments! I got quite frightened as I felt so utterly horrific that I wondered if a) it was going to get any worse and b) if I'd ever feel normal again. No amount of paracetamol was touching the head pain and back pain, the last 36 hours have been a blur of sweaty, shivery nightmares. I tried a meditation and it made my dreams weird for 40 minutes, then the pain woke me again. It felt like it was going to be never ending.

The waves of heat and sweating were especially uncomfortable - but I woke with a start half an hour ago to find that although I was drenched in sweat, I felt very slightly more human. Hence I am able to type a post!

I need a shower, is anyone else glad they can't smell themselves...!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/11/2020 07:55

@lulabelleread I felt like that earlier in the week, thought I'd never be well enough to work after ten days, but then on day 9/10 made quite quick improvement.

@Ladylimpet I had that anaesthetic feeling, all over my body, in my finger Tips and lips and inside my nasal cavity. Really really odd

Rest up everyone. I hope you all feel better soon! I'm on day 11 today, and I feel so much better. I'm free from this prison too! Will be strange to drive and be outside after so long.

ThanksCakeBrewfor you all

HarrietOh · 14/11/2020 10:24

So it’s been a whole week now since the dreaded headache appeared and I am feeling much better. It seems my only real symptoms were headache and loss of smell, a very very slight cough.
I’ve still got a slight fuzzy head and not feeling 100%, still can’t smell anything either, but hoping that’s me done with this virus now.

Hope everyone else who is suffering more from it recovers soon!

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 10:35

@lulabelleread please don't feel you can't ask for medical help. This is a very unpredictable virus Flowers

@BillyDaveysDaughter that sounds scary no wonder you're getting anxious. I hope you turn a corner soon Flowers

I'm on day 8 of testing positive and feel almost normal. I've heard dh sneezing this morning though and am worried he's caught it? He's 65 a lot older than me. He's denying it saying he often sneezes on a morning but it sounds different to me.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 14/11/2020 10:49

Yikes @incognitomum - let's hope it's nothing. My DH says he feels "heady" and has some pain in his groin, but he's not a great one for getting sick usually. Neither am I though, I haven't been ill like this since 2012.

DH ran me a lovely bath, and although getting in it was heaven, getting out wasn't great - had to abort mission and lay on the bed, soaking wet, wearing a towel like a nappy and panting. Took 20 mins to recover before managing to brush my teeth, but at least I'm clean.

He's brought me a piece of dry toast, which isn't very appealing.

cherrytreeblossom · 14/11/2020 13:24

@DottyWott what symptoms are you experiencing ? This is just awful the longer it goes on :(

incognitomum · 14/11/2020 13:29

@BillyDaveysDaughter oh no you sound so weak.

DottyWott · 14/11/2020 15:47

@cherrytreeblossom it’s so vague. Weakness, stiffness, can’t concentrate, muscle aches. Spend most of the day lying down and the rest of the time hobbling about.
DH is exactly the same. The kids recovered after a few days.
How about you?

DottyWott · 14/11/2020 15:48

Totally lost smell and taste but my taste is starting to return today

BillyDaveysDaughter · 14/11/2020 16:51

I've taken another downturn - I had been feeling slightly better but now I'm so unbearably hot (no temp though), headache that paracetamol doesn't touch, feel sick, can't get comfortable, can't doze off, can't move around, can't watch or listen to anything. Don't know what to do with myself.

Oh and the cough is setting in now too. When does it improve? I'm on day 7 - or day 2 of more significant symptoms, I first felt really ill on day 6.
