Just asked this on a different thread but no response.
Bearing in mind the above, at what point teachers be happy to teach a full class of DC?

Some teachers here seem to be desperately unhappy in their jobs and that was also the case before Covid, but that is honestly not my experience and it isn't the message I'm getting from my colleagues.

Staff in our school feel that everything possible has been done and are happy to be getting on with supporting children both emotionally and academically. They enjoy that their work is important and that society needs them.

Some staff were very anxious before returning to work after the closures but that has largely passed now.

MN is rarely representative, whatever the topic.

Mogtheforgetfulmum · 21/10/2020 22:19

Teachers haven't been calling for long term closures. There are loads of threads where teachers have come up with some safer, more long term solutions than the current situation. The teacher you are quoting is simply stating that, with the virtually non- existent covid measures currently in place, covid is being spread in schools and will force them to close.

I'm not really sure what your point is @marcellemouse other than to accuse all teachers of wanting schools to close entirely. This seems a bit counterproductive given that, as they are teachers, they would probably quite like schools to stay open so that they can do their job and teach!

3littlewords · 21/10/2020 22:20

@MillieVanilla

Well, after tonight they need to close.

As I knew would happen, child was sent home incredibly unwell with symptoms earlier this week. You guessed it, kid has covid.

They are in classes with my vulnerable boy.
What the hell is wrong with people that they send their kid in with obvious symptoms, like really obvious symptoms?
To me that should be a fine for gross stupidity.

I knew this would happen, same way as the same old faces get sent in with D&V and end up puking everywhere and passing it to the whole bloody school cos the parents don't think rules apply to them, also because the stupid "100% attendance" shite that's peddled from infants onwards.

I'm just hoping that because DS wasn't in school until yesterday morning he may be safe.
Sorry but enough now. This doesn't work. The numbers have gone mad since they opened schools, it's not workable.

You do realise those first initial symptoms can start at any point during the day they aren't explicit to out of school hours! A temperature or cough can start at any point during the day, I'm sure there are many parents who have received a call from school at some point saying their child has become unwell when they've been absolutely fine to the naked eye that morning
VashtaNerada · 21/10/2020 22:20
  1. Of course we teach full classes. What did you think was happening to the rest of the children?
  2. We’re glad all children are back and are not complaining about that.
  3. It is indeed possible that schools may close either on a case by case basis or as a whole because the environment is conducive to spreading viruses by its very nature.
  4. Just because it may happen doesn’t mean we want it to.
  5. We are working full-time without PPE in a pandemic, many of us using public transport, many of us have been doing this since March. I don’t want a bloody medal but I would like people to stop implying we’re lazy or cowardly.

This just thin out the student population and do blended learning
Also from another school related thread.

@Mogtheforgtletfulmum I don't know why you are trying to undermine me

Don't try and turn this into a personal attack.

It's the repetitive nature of your goady posts that are being cited to give some, ahem, context to your latest goady thread. I would say that you're doing a very good job of undermining yourself, judging by this thread.

In a hole. Keep digging.

StanfordPines · 21/10/2020 22:23

Can you link to the actual thread rather than post out of context quotes please?

I’m still waiting to hear why you think teachers aren’t teaching full classes.

echt · 21/10/2020 22:24

This just thin out the student population and do blended learning

What does this have to do with whatever point you're making?

Mogtheforgetfulmum · 21/10/2020 22:24

@marcellemouse but you're not simply airing your concerns, you're very blatantly starting emotive, teacher bashing threads and making sweeping misleading statements and suggestions (e.g; teachers aren't teaching full classes).

School is also a concern for me at the moment. I am very anxious about my Y11 and Y12/13 classes getting the qualifications and life experiences they so deserve.

SmileEachDay · 21/10/2020 22:25

This just thin out the student population and do blended learning

That would be a total PIA but the best way of ensuring consistent school rather than the covid Hokey Cokey.

Can you really not see that we’re trying to keep schools open?

echt · 21/10/2020 22:25

I’m still waiting to hear why you think teachers aren’t teaching full classes

Don't hold your breath. The OP always latches onto some imaginary trope of teaching in Covid times and runs with it.

Marcellemouse · 21/10/2020 22:25

Don't try and turn this into a personal attack so you're not trying to do that as well?

OP posts:
StanfordPines · 21/10/2020 22:26

Still waiting.......

Letseatgrandma · 21/10/2020 22:27

What does you copy and pasting random posts from teachers prove?!

I could post random posts from parents on here and claim all parents think X! I wouldn’t, because that would be ridiculous.

Marcellemouse · 21/10/2020 22:27

At no point have I said teachers are not teaching a full class. I said when will they be happy to.

OP posts:
SmileEachDay · 21/10/2020 22:30

I said when will they be happy to

I answered you, but you ignored me.

I will never be happy teaching classes of 30. It’s outrageous and doesn’t give children anywhere near what they need.

NannyMcphee39 · 21/10/2020 22:30

Tier 3 here and the system is shambolic. No real education is happening due to constant disruptions.

Government should give parents the option to temporarily withdraw from school which would bring numbers down in schools. Thus it would be safer all round. Those of us who are happy to educate at home in the meantime will do so until we feel it is safe again.

It should be parental choice.

Mogtheforgetfulmum · 21/10/2020 22:30

@Marcellemouse but teachers aren't closing schools or bubbles simply because they're not happy to teach a full class?

Marcellemouse · 21/10/2020 22:30

Why is this goady anyway? I was stating a fact. Covid is going nowhere.

OP posts:
Triangularbubble · 21/10/2020 22:30

You’re being unnecessarily catastrophic in your thinking OP. Covid may not be going anywhere but a vaccine or two, some treatments and faster testing and it becomes a much more manageable thing. Even the most miserable predictions of government scientists have next autumn/winter looking considerably better than this one. I don’t think anyone expects schools to be doing this Hokey Cokey indefinitely. I’m fully on the side of schools staying open as far as humanly possible, even to the detriment of other sectors like hospitality and even if it involves restricting other socialising, but there comes a point where if all the staff are off sick/isolating then they’ll have to close - surely better to avoid that. Unless of course they find a few ex soft play staff and some redundant bankers and refurbish some ex Debenhams branches....

echt · 21/10/2020 22:31

Don't try and turn this into a personal attack so you're not trying to do that as well?

No. I am attacking your arguments. You keep coming up with nonsense, I will keep attacking it.

Itisasecret · 21/10/2020 22:31

@Marcellemouse

At no point have I said teachers are not teaching a full class. I said when will they be happy to.
They are happy to. They know it’s not sustainable which is what is upsetting. So what’s your point?
hedgehogger1 · 21/10/2020 22:31

I taught 5 full classes today (one or two kids isolating from several of them). I don't recall at any point saying i was unhappy about it. You don't appear to have a point...

echt · 21/10/2020 22:31

Why is this goady anyway? I was stating a fact. Covid is going nowhere

Daffodil.

StanfordPines · 21/10/2020 22:32

@Marcellemouse

You stated a fact and surrounded it with lies.
