Has there ever been a more inept government than we have right now? What a joke.

OP posts:
Dustballs · 19/10/2020 18:26

What’s he done?

MushMonster · 19/10/2020 18:26

Yes what did he do?

SummerHouse · 19/10/2020 18:27

What's Matt done?

SummerHouse · 19/10/2020 18:27

Don't keep us in suspenders op...

giletrouge · 19/10/2020 18:28

Wasn't he drinking in the bar after hours, the bar that he made close at 10 in the HOC?
I think that's what I heard but to be honest it seemed to hardly merit an eyeroll given all the other antics.

PurpleDaisies · 19/10/2020 18:28

Not wearing a face mask in a chauffeur driven car.

The man is a bloody idiot.

Tinghtwek · 19/10/2020 18:28

Oh sorry! I really thought I included the link!

Is it the car ride without mask? Well, he says he removed just as he arrived but there is a picture of him inside the car without the mask?

giletrouge · 19/10/2020 18:29

Ha ha ha - so was mine yesterday's faux pas or have I dreamed it up?

Tinghtwek · 19/10/2020 18:31

Ha ha ha - so was mine yesterday's faux pas or have I dreamed it up?

That was in the news a few days ago but tbf it was just his word against an anoymous source, I think.

This time there's actually a photo so he can't just deny it ever happened.

But he's had the illness, so wouldn't be passing anything on, and very unlikely to catch it again.

SummerHouse · 19/10/2020 18:32

Crispy dick.

myhobbyisouting · 19/10/2020 18:32

"very unlikely to catch it again"

Really? How do you know that and have you thought about passing this knowledge on to SAGE? Grin

Dustballs · 19/10/2020 18:33

Er no. I think it’s very possible to catch it again. No one is ever immune despite what Trump tells us.

Matt knows that too.

MushMonster · 19/10/2020 18:33

Another one bites the dust!
Nothing compares to the MP travelling by train and going into parlament knowing she was positive. Or "someone" who got symptoms and travelled miles and miles, and cannot even say sorry about it!
But, yes poor. I do really hope he sincerely apologises for this!

PurpleDaisies · 19/10/2020 18:36

@ajandjjmum

But he's had the illness, so wouldn't be passing anything on, and very unlikely to catch it again.
That has absolutely no bearing on whether you’re allowed to not wear a mask in situations where you are supposed to.
HeIenaDove · 19/10/2020 18:39

Its not actually rule breaking. Just more hypocrisy.

shesgonebatshitagain · 19/10/2020 18:39

To be honest they get away with doing what the fuck they want.

Hancock, Scummings et al could be caught belly dancing in a care home whilst coughing with a high temperature and no mask. Mark my words there would still me an explanation / loophole / contemptuous pile of bullshit to ensure do as I say not as I do applies

SheepandCow · 19/10/2020 18:43

People should bear in mind. Even if hospitals fill up, poiticians are guaranteed a bed (and, like Trump, expensive in short supply medication).

Just thought this was worth noting. In case people suggest everyone should ignore the containment measures - just because Cummings, Hancock, and Ferrier have.

SummerHouse · 19/10/2020 18:45

What I don't get is why they don't avoid such situations simply for the sake of public appearances. At least LOOK like you care about reducing the spread of covid. Ideally because you want to lead by example but at least for the sake of not having a load of press hassle.

Tinghtwek · 19/10/2020 18:49

What I don't get is why they don't avoid such situations simply for the sake of public appearances

Exactly. Even if you think it's a silly rule or whatever, if you choose to be a politician you should know that the opposition/media/public will use things like this against you if you give them a chance. ESPECIALLY if you're the bloody HEALTH SECRETARY himself!

The only answer is that they're thick or just so arrogant that they know they're untouchable. Neither is particularly surprising I suppose.

Clareflairmare · 19/10/2020 18:49

I’m am the Tories least biggest fan, but this seems a storm in a tea cup. Way bigger cock ups everywhere you look.

Tinghtwek · 19/10/2020 18:53

It's not about the size of the issue. It's his position. Any cockup is a big cockup when you're the health secretary, telling everyone what to do and how to live to best survive this pandemic.

OP posts:
NoSquirrels · 19/10/2020 18:53

There's an exemption for chauffeur-driven cars.

So whilst Downing Street has been "making masks available" and "advising" ministers should wear them, he hasn't actually broken any rules.

I mean, it's ludicrous, of course. But still, really, WGAF? I can't be arsed to care. There's so many worse examples.

Previously, people have just been shouting I have asthma and ignoring us. I’ve asked can I see your inhaler to which one hasn’t been produced? If you show your inhaler that’s fine but if not can take the matter to court and show them your proof/medicine
