Does anyone think we will get a break for Christmas?

It's been hinted that restrictions may ease for the holidays but does anyone actually believe it or do you think it's just a way to try and get people to stick down to the rules?

I live in Lancashire, in tier 3 and it seems absolutely nobody is paying attention to the rules! (Like to point out that me and my family are 🙈).

Wouldn’t surprise me if we have a full lockdown over Xmas tbh

Egghead68 · 20/10/2020 18:41

No. They weren’t lifted for other religious festivals.

The difference is that this is a Christian country that uses a Christian calendar @Egghead68.

Politically I think it's easier to get away with trying to prevent gatherings on a minority festival than one the vast majority of the population celebrates.

By Christmas I expect numbers to be getting better.

You can see (from today's press conference) that already in younger age groups herd immunity thresholds have been reached and numbers are dropping.

We're going to get a low broad winter curve, not a steep peak like first time round.

@ListeningQuietly

The arrogance of those enjoying lockdown while people on minimum wage risk their lives every day to pack and deliver food and groceries is astounding
Am I allowed to enjoy Christmas? Enjoy my warm home and my safe, sedentary job? Appreciate having recovered from covid, which took ages and was fucking miserable (I almost certainly caught it in the office, but shit happens...) Am I allowed to be grateful to the couriers, warehouse and shop workers and power grid/telecoms workers who keep it all going? To be willing to pay more tax, and be in the only party that can change our country, given a chance?

Or should I just sit around feeling miserable all the time because no fucker is allowed to enjoy anything any more? The batshittery on here is astounding at times!
