It seems like it's on the cards but 🤷‍♀️

I’ve heard that all schools and childcare settings will be closing.

@DownstairsMixUp

Teachers coming on here and saying they are preparing isn't helpful really, they don't get anything leaked before us so I wouldn't take that as a hint. I can't see it happening as they will want to see if the tier things make a difference

Why can’t teachers come on here and say what’s happening at schools? Are they gagged from speaking now??!

@nosswith

No surprise but very unprofessional of those who leaked it. Leaking is something I expect from incompetent politicians not transport operators.

At least three Welsh councils sent out letters to secondary schools, so hundreds of people were given a letter detailing the rough plans. It was inevitably going to leak while Drakeford ironed out financial details over the weekend.

I don't think is any indication that England will follow. We went into local lockdowns here when the 7 day rate went over 50 in 100,000. Merthyr had the highest rate at one stage but was still only the 55th higher rate in the UK. We've reached far more harshly to this throughout than England.

I agree with a PP, it's been ridiculous. I am one of the unfortunate ones who lives in one of the smallest counties with one of the lowest rates to actually meet the Welsh lockdown threshold. It's been a really shit few weeks. Deprivation in Wales is awful anyway. Even our bigger shopping centres are looking increasingly desolate. I dread to this what will happen to unemployment and suicide rates.

@rainytreeleaves There is no public support for such drastic measures. People bought in before out of sheer terror and for the greater good to protect the NHS. They also believed that by keeping their side of the bargain the government would keep theirs and get organised with proper testing and track and trace systems in place. We have been badly let down, they have spent billions of our money and have nothing to show for it. People will not comply with a strict lockdown so readily again. They are no longer afraid of the virus and they do not trust in the government.

If places like Manchester are refusing to be T3 compliant, what happens if local councils/govts say no, were not complying with a circuit breaker?

I would be surprised if closed to all as it never happened in March.

Sorry that was a reply to who suggested all childcare and schools would close.

@Rhine can't see that happening. People won't be able to work.

As long as it includes the utility workers. supermarket workers, those that deliver food, And those who oversee water , electricity phones and broadband. Lets do it properly + not be hypocrites. Look as appealing now?

As usual, everyone forgets about Leicestershire/Leicester (who haven't ever properly come out of lockdown). It's already half-term here, back on the 26th, so way too late to start thinking about an extended half-term. By the time the politicians have decided, we'll be back in school.

I'm a teacher and I am desperately hoping the schools stay open.

No chance of it happening in Scotland. The DDs have already had their two weeks and are back at school on Monday.

If we have tier 2 and then a circuit breaker lockdown where in both scenarios people cant see family people are going to get more and more pissed off and angry because of this and because of what @NotAKaren said.

@SleepingStandingUp The police (in Greater Manchester at least, but I'm sure applies to all forces) have confirmed they will enforce the law, regardless of any disagreement between LAs and central government.

I'm in Central Scotland on half term. Pubs are shut as are restaurants. We can't mix households indoors.

It's a sort of circuit break I suppose.

The Welsh rules will be all hospitality and non essential retail to close, and secondary schools to move to remote learning after half term for at least two weeks, with only primary schools allowed to open. As I understand it, in Leicester shops and restaurants have been allowed to remain open throughout?

I'm in Scotland, we are a few days into a 16 day one.

Don't really think the north of Scotland needed it. However N.S doesn't have the guts to just restrict Glasgow/ Edinburgh, so she gave us all restrictions, even in an area that has 0 cases...

@WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo

If they do this it needs to be done properly including shops. With managed times or days for going shopping

Otherwise people will just tit about hanging around Asda for something to do like they did last time........I'm not massively opposed to it. But if it isn't done properly it's a waste of everyone's time.

I agree. I'm very much in the "we reopened too much too early"/favour a further lockdown , but it must be a fully closed "stay at home" effort including schools or shops or it'll be pointless

@JacketPotatoQueen @WishIWasSomewhereElse , I had the same thought. We're in an entirely selective county with one DC due to sit 11+ first week of November. It will be a major hassle if it gets postponed again.

Also Boris won’t want to be seen to be doing something that Starmer wants/suggested!

He will do as he usually does, and blabber and bluster his way to make the gullible think it was his idea in the first place.

I hope not. In March we lost a week of childcare because of lockdown and now we’d be losing 2 weeks. Nearly a month lost of nursery fees ...

Northern Ireland isnt closing nurseries I believe

Given that some families have half term this week and have gone on holiday in some cases abroad it would be most unfair if people with half term next week were locked away unable to do anything.
