Have just had the call and am going tomorrow. Very excited. Anyone else doing this?

@NotMrsTumble

Definitely more symptoms from second jab than first. Swelling at site is bigger, arm feels heavy and is sore to move rather than just tender to touch. Definitely felt achy and tired yesterday (jab+24hrs) too. I figure I either have had the vaccine or am extremely suggestible and am experiencing and very strong placebo effect (or possibly am actually coming down with something? Covid?!Confused)
I was exactly the same but felt much better at jab+48hrs.

I had a quick skim through the information sheet but I can't see it saying that the second dose is bigger...

Evenstar · 27/11/2020 17:40

Went back for my first jab today, as predicted the pregnancy test was negative! Arm feels a bit heavy tonight, so will be interesting to see how it is tomorrow. Bloods, COVID test and BP done today.

Nurse said she would be relieved when they had finished signing people up as they have been really busy, but said really low rates for any side effects.

andadietcoke · 27/11/2020 20:47

I thought the second dose was significantly bigger for some reason.

Daftapath · 27/11/2020 21:04

I thought the second dose was bigger too but don't know where I got that info!

Shoulder really aching this evening. Feels as though I have a heavy weight on it!

GreenPlum · 29/11/2020 15:23

@andadietcoke

I thought the second dose was significantly bigger for some reason.

I read somewhere (was it phase 1&2 trial findings?) that it was five times bigger (specifically 1st was 5ug and 2nd was 25ug) but I asked at my second injection appt and was told they were the same. Maybe they were experimenting with doses in the early trials.

NotMrsTumble · 30/11/2020 10:34

The volume in the syringe was the same, but I suppose it could be a higher concentration of active ingredient? I don't recall anything about there being different dosages. I suspect the increased after effects on second dose are because your immune system is trained to recognise and defend against the covid-like proteins. Definitely all general symptoms faded within 48 hours, though swelling at site was bigger, and is still slightly swollen 6 days on (though thankfully no longer tender to touch)

Vargas · 30/11/2020 11:21

Did anyone have NO reaction at the injection site?

I ask because I was just listening to Newscast (BBC podcast) where they were saying that some other vaccine trials use a real vaccine such as meningitis rather than saline because people won't get a reaction with saline, and then they may assume they are placebo which takes away the 'blind'.

pennee · 30/11/2020 12:21

Second vaccine today. In and out much quicker (within an hour!)
Still yellow but couldn’t tell if that was the liquid or a syringe thing 😆. Didn’t ask as they were bombarding me with have I got the app/next appointment etc.
Today it hurt going in but absolutely nothing since unlike last time which was instantly tender.

I had zero reaction. It's easy to jump to the assumption that I had the saline but so many people on here also had zero reaction, we can't all have had the placebo! Maybe we just didn't react and it's a gold star for Novavax.

I’ve had no reaction at all to either jab, no soreness or stiffness. Having said that, I had no reaction to my flu jab this year either and I know that wasn’t a placebo 🤷‍♀️
mollypuss1 · 30/11/2020 14:02

Another one here with no reaction to either jab

andadietcoke · 30/11/2020 15:33

I've had my flu jab today. So far, so the same - metallic taste, arm and neck pain. Maybe it's just how I react to injections!!

Cooroo · 30/11/2020 23:27

No reaction either time. I haven't caught COVID either... so far.

pennee · 01/12/2020 11:29

I had my second one yesterday. I feel shocking today. Been up all night and Temperature and headache but looking at card it says if you have those symptoms within 7 days not to contact unless worried.

My husband had this after the 2nd vaccine. He felt really poorly. I have my second one next week, but I felt rough for a very short time after the first one.
pennee · 01/12/2020 14:56

@ramblingsonthego did he?
I’ve felt really ill in the early hours and was having hot and cold chills through the night. Feeling a bit better this afternoon thankfully

Yep. He had chills, really bad body aches, a pounding headache.

pennee · 01/12/2020 19:41

I’ve been vomiting all afternoon now. Not sure what the hell it is, whether it’s related or just bad timing I’ve caught something at the same time

Daftapath · 02/12/2020 00:16

Oh no, you poor thing, @pennee!

I felt a bit dizzy and nauseous on and off for a couple of days which would have been about 5-6 days lost 2nd injection. No temp or any other symptoms (apart from still slightly sore, mostly on site number 2). Shoulder still achey at times.

Trouble is, any twinge now makes me wonder!

Hope you feel better @pennee. Maybe call them on the emergency contact number if you are concerned.

pennee · 02/12/2020 10:02

Feeling much better this morning. Still got the painful glands under my arms but had that after the first so can live with that 😁

Vargas · 02/12/2020 13:26

I felt rough after the second one, but nowhere near as rough as you @pennee! Glad you're feeling better.

pennee · 02/12/2020 13:44

@Vargas much better thank you. At least it’s over with (unless they say we’ve had the placebo 😆)

Vargas · 02/12/2020 13:51

I will be very Blush if it turns out I've had the placebo. They even rang me yesterday to ask if I was ok after reporting my minor symptoms. I was picturing the nurse/doctor/researcher putting the phone down and laughing at 'another placebo patient with symptoms!' Grin.

pennee · 02/12/2020 13:54

Ha it would be 🙈 I didn’t report anything because of what it said on the card about being within the 7 days. I was tempted to ring today if I felt no better though. They have an ambulance outside the research centre for check ups and I couldn’t have faced going there yesterday at all.

Woventabby · 02/12/2020 15:30

Glad you feel better!
