Ergh I'm hoping we are tier 2, the cat has a scan up west road next week and we live in Sunderland so I'm not fancying driving up twice so was hoping to work from a Costa or something!

Could you do a costa drive thru instead? I know it’s cold but maybe could still use their wifi if park close by?
juneybean · 26/11/2020 09:45

Ohh that's a good idea! Could intermittently turn car on to warm up a bit haha.

Justyou · 26/11/2020 10:36

There’s on 5 mins from West road so that would work

gingercat02 · 26/11/2020 11:16

Post code tier finder www.gov.uk/find-coronavirus-local-restrictions North Tyneside is tier 3 sadly. Gutted for hospitality and our indie cinema 😪

FrolickingLemon · 26/11/2020 11:54

So the whole bloody lot of us are in tier 3 then looks like. My area is really low, but I guess they just think Fuck it, let's just shut the whole of the North down!

FrolickingLemon · 26/11/2020 11:55

Me too Gingercat.
Is leisure able to open? My Dad said last night that he has a swim session booked for 2nd Dec as it didn't matter what tier we would be in, leisure would be open.
Confused.

HarrietOh · 26/11/2020 12:09

Gyms are allowed to open, but ridiculously not allowed to run exercise classes! For my gym this makes no sense, classes have been organised, controlled, well spaced out, no equipment sharing, clean everything down etc. Now they'll have to operate like a 'normal' gym which is surely more risky!

juneybean · 26/11/2020 12:20

www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know#very-high-alert list of what is and isn't allowed to be open.

PickAChew · 26/11/2020 12:29

Ha! It's crashed.

Checked the papers and my family are tier 3, too, though unsurprising as they've rocketed from hardly any cases to higher numbers than ours.

I wonder where we stand in regards public transport?

MammothMashup · 26/11/2020 13:24

Hi, nc, not been on a while. Just following to get my head around it!

annjohn55 · 26/11/2020 13:24

How can London be in tier 2 with a higher r rate than us?
Our infections are falling yet gone from tier 2 to tier 3
How ?

Uptoongirl · 26/11/2020 13:38

@FrolickingLemon I'm not sure about swimming lessons...outdoor childrens sports are a yes and swimming is a yes so you would think but who knows! I've stopped most of my DC clubs as they found it difficult with the stopping and starting.

Are these tiers reviewed after 2 weeks? I thought I'd read that but so much of what I've read lately is presented as fact when it's not the case! I'm also wondering if we are still in t3 at xmas will the relaxing of indoor gathering still apply?

TommyKnocker · 26/11/2020 13:39

@FrolickingLemon just realised you were taking about your dad going swimming not your DD! I think swimming is open but it my be down to individual centres discretion.

Shitfuckoh · 26/11/2020 14:05

Reviewed every 2 weeks but I really can't see them 'downgrading' any tiers prior to the Christmas 'break'. The Christmas so called bubble thing is between the 23rd and 27th and after that it's back to Tiers. I'm assuming they'll then wait to see what impact Christmas has on figures before they downgrade anyone. This is the Winter plan though, so on going until Spring. It's going to be a hard few months.

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/11/2020 14:36

I've just looked at some of the data and although cases are coming down the NE comes out with some of the highest rates per 100k. Unfortunately.

Wondering if I can sneak a swim in soon. I'm going out of my mind!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/11/2020 14:44

Does anyone know how going into tier 3 will affect the secondary school tier system - 4 tiers, DS school currently at tier 1 but anything above that is rota schooling - 2 weeks in school, 2 weeks homeschooling. I'm assuming this is the same for all secondary state schools?

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/11/2020 14:48

I think all that was abandoned but happy to be corrected.

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/11/2020 14:49

As far as I know Hull have been begging to go to rota to no avail.

MissEWeatherwax · 26/11/2020 14:49

So I can’t do anything I want, no meal out, no cinema but I can go to work and sit in my office, thank goodness. It’s the only thing keeping me sane. That’s how bad things are and I hate my job.

FrolickingLemon · 26/11/2020 14:50

Haha. Yes I was talking about my Dad. But I also had the discussion with DD this morning and I'm hoping they will resume her Thursday evening 1 to 1 swimming lessons as she is being coached by a fab teacher.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/11/2020 15:01

Ah really 😬 Thanks Neurotrash

His school sent the letter outlining the tiers earlier this month 🤷‍♀️

What a mess
