@MissEWeatherwax
Hotel chocolat also reduced their violent and rose creams
My lovely dd bought me 6 packs 😂

Dowser · 08/11/2020 17:10

Preston park was rammed.
It was lovely
Everyone was so friendly and chatty
Had a fab walk alongside the river tees..

We are going out every day providing the weather isn’t filthy.

MissEWeatherwax · 08/11/2020 17:18

@Dowser you have a good DD. Violet tasting sweets always remind me, of my GD. The weather is rubbish here, I like crisp autumn.

Someaddedsugar · 08/11/2020 18:14

@Shitfuckoh it's back - Reastie has just put thread 18 up!

DS has fallen asleep and DP's watching the football so going to stick my headphones in and watch the window launch with some chocolate and a nice cuppa!

I'll have to ask about the vaccine when the time comes next year @IggyAce as DS always gets a cold that ends up on his chest (and with the way things are this year it'll mean numerous days of isolation for us in case of CV) and for the second time the nasal spray has wiped him out poor thing.

Someaddedsugar · 08/11/2020 18:16

@Dowser I used to love Preston Park as a child - haven't been there for years! Is the butterfly place still there? I know it'll be closed at the moment but I've been making a list of things to do with DS in the north east once things get a bit better with the virus.

PickAChew · 08/11/2020 18:46

It's the sort of weather where everything goes mouldy. Not pleasant. I've not been motivated to go out anywhere, this weekend. Spent the afternoon sewing some more pyjamas, instead.

A stiff Brew for you @Someaddedsugar

DD and I have had a lazy day, weather has been grey and damp so not inspiring.

We stood on the front step at 11 for the 2 minutes silence then watched a bit of the live coverage from the Cenotaph.

We watched the Fenwick's window reveal this eve which has got DD hyper for Xmas.

An amazon delivery arrived today and it's been killing DD to know what it is, as it's her birthday in 4 weeks. Then she said, it's ok I can check the photos on the ipad. Totally forgot my phone is linked to one of the ipads and that anything I look at online and screenshot for present ideas is also loaded on the ipad photos 🤯😭

Now I know how my mam felt when we would go present hunting when she was out! 😢

InTheLongGrass · 10/11/2020 18:49

@Someaddedsugar yes, butterfly world is still there. It opened briefly this summer, and shut for the winter at the end of half term.

Dowser we must be very local. Walking to PP, climbing the rope tower, crossing the bridge, down the slide and back home was a fairly frequent summer evening walk for us this year!

Someaddedsugar · 10/11/2020 19:58

Thanks @InTheLongGrass I'll add that to my list for next year!

Dowser · 11/11/2020 09:08

@InTheLongGrass
I’m about a 30 min drive from PP
There was a lovely atmosphere there Sunday

Dowser · 11/11/2020 09:12

Anyone local Crimdon dene is lovely
Like a miniature hamsterley forest
We went a bit late to get the sunshine, so I’d aim for about 1
We probably got there for nearly 3 when the sun had gone from the dene
Lovely stream to walk beside

I’ve just googled Preston park. That is Eaglescliffe museum. I have visited loads of times on school trips. I thought it was miles away, I remember being on the bus for hours. Happy childhood memories.
At C-L-S the riverside walk and gardens are lovely. The swans are very beautiful, the signets are as big as their parents, but still grey. There is lovely little secret garden, very Alice in Wonderland, tea party. And for people worried about crowds, very easy to social distance and the cafe was open too. And the adventure playground is open.

IggyAce · 11/11/2020 17:05

Well first confirmed case of Covid in ds school and it’s his class, so home school starts tomorrow. Seems very organised and there is to be some live lessons so fingers crossed this time around is easier, plus it’s only for 2 weeks.

MissEWeatherwax · 11/11/2020 17:18

Hope it goes well IggyAce. Mine is a teenager and the worst bit was she wasn’t allowed out the garden.
One of the Facebook pages I follow they are going mad about the students again, this time about them leaving. You couldn’t make it up.

Someaddedsugar · 11/11/2020 18:22

Hope it goes well @IggyAce - a couple of colleagues were called to collect children today with another few being called last Friday.

I love the river walk and CLS park @MissEWeatherwax - the cafe sells amazing hot chocolates too!

MissEWeatherwax · 11/11/2020 18:48

@Someaddedsugar, that’s good too know. I will be having hot chocolate next visit. I have never visited so much. It’s great for a social distance walk.

PickAChew · 11/11/2020 18:57

I do like Riverside Park for a stroll. You can't really do that at Wharton Park :o

Just realised, today, that it's 2 months since I last left Durham City. I've not even been to the far side of the city centre. I need to do something rash and adventurous like walk to the Range (and call dh to bring me back again!)

MissEWeatherwax · 11/11/2020 19:14

I really want to visit The Range. The riverside is lovely and flat, just beware of the swans. They don’t social distance or move out of the way.
Last time I was at Wharton park was in the dark for the Lumrie. I am so unfit now I’m not sure if I can make it up the stepsBlush

Someaddedsugar · 11/11/2020 19:56

We had an incident with the swans at CLS where we hadn't realised one had crept up behind DS while he was eating some chips and it bit the back of his arm leaving quite a big mark. Thankfully it hasn't put him off wanting to go and see them!

MissEWeatherwax · 11/11/2020 21:02

Your son is very brave Someaddedsugar. I almost had a panic attack having to pass one on the path, I was terrified Blush.

Someaddedsugar · 11/11/2020 21:32

@MissEWeatherwax they scare me now - I always make sure he's stood behind me if they do get a bit too close and back away as quickly as we can! A few times I've seen people leave their table (outside the cafe) because the swans have appeared to see if there's anything left for them!

PickAChew · 12/11/2020 13:04

I find up the steps far easier than down. My poor knees.
PickAChew · 12/11/2020 13:06

There's some bloody vicious geese at Ropner Park in Stockton!

Aztectrousers · 12/11/2020 15:36

The Range was absolutely heaving today. Never seen so many people in there before ever. The Christmas bit was packed.

PickAChew · 12/11/2020 17:22

They must have all read the thread the other day :o
