Corbyn trumps Cummings

Jeremy Corbyn ensures continued spread of coronavirus by attending non-socially distanced dinner party for 9.

Well at least it’s not just the Tories who think the rules don’t apply to them but seriously, what the hell were these people thinking?
Presumably they thought it they would get away with it until someone took the photo!!

Meanwhile I’m here explaining to my son why his friend can’t come over anymore Angry

Still doesn’t justify anyone else breaking the rules though!

I forget they are still doing the daily ones up in Scotland.

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 01/10/2020 20:59

We already not at the same level as March?

Well I'm not holding a bday party for dd, turning 8. She's so upset?..but it's OK for corybn to have a dinner party? Mixing with others in close contact around a table?.
The only risks Cummings would have given where at petrol stations if they stopped and he got petrol.

What corybn has done in my view is far worse. I look forward to the media hauling him over the coals, the apology speech.. Etc

If Nicola’s tweet is anything to go by she’ll be on that stage holding the severed head of Ferrier, and I can’t say I’d blame her

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 01/10/2020 21:02

Corybn thinks he is above us too, far morally superior to us dreadful people that get in the way of true freedom... He's morally bankrupt nasty man.

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 01/10/2020 21:02

Nancy, what tweet!!

nancy75 · 01/10/2020 21:05

Nicola Sturgeon on Twitter an hour ago
This is utterly indefensible. It’s hard to express just how angry I feel on behalf of people across the country making hard sacrifices every day to help beat COVID. The rules apply to everyone and they’re in place to keep people safe.
@Ianblackford_MP
is right to suspend the whip

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 01/10/2020 21:09

Late to the party, can't believe farrier.

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 01/10/2020 21:10

Good, it's one of the only things nicola has said I agree with

MRex · 01/10/2020 22:18

Blimey. She even spoke in the House of Commons despite knowing she'd had a test with symptoms 2 days prior. Will the Speaker suspend her, given she's endangered all the MPs and staff? And given that everyone there now has to isolate too, remote voting will have to come back.

Whilst not a supporter of any of the 3.

Stanley Johnson went to Greece by an odd route so as to avoid quarantine when there. Depending on where he was in Greece he might need to be in quarantine now he has returned.

Some aspects of his behaviour were calculated. Arrogant - quite possible.

The masks rule was in place before he left.

However he did apologise.

Jeremy went out to a friends house where ‘eventually’ the numbers exceeded 6. Maybe he should have left early, maybe the hosts should have not invited numbers 7+8 round? A lack of judgement all round. Arrogance - not sure.
I read earlier the event was related to a bereavement - but I can’t find a link.

However he apologised.

Dominic Cummins.
1 Went back into work when he knew his wife was ill.
2 Drove up to Durham - it may have been a panic decision but he also has family in London.
3 Drove to hospital to pick up his wife and child. Taxis?
4 Drove to Barnard Castle to check his eyesight.

1 and 4 - absolutely no excuse. 2 I can nearly understand and possibly 3 too.

Zero apology. In my mind he’s the cause of us all losing the plot a bit.

HeIenaDove · 01/10/2020 22:55

@AutumnleavesturntoGold All three are in the wrong. I wouldnt call Corbyn morally bankrupt.

a. He can count how many kids he actually has.
b. he hasnt purchased a load of masks and PPE that were useless for the NHS and then let it rot in a warehouse rather than distributing the masks to low income families.
c. he hasnt handed lucrative trace and test contracts to his mates one of whom presided over a hack at her previous company.

d. yes he broke the rule of six and he shouldnt have but Cummings and Farrier broke the rules while KNOWINGLY having Covid.

Fetaliving · 02/10/2020 00:41

Corbyn and Johnson Sr said sorry. Cummings did not.

Cummings had the virus. Then drove across the country. Then drove to Barnard Castle to test his eyesight definitely not because it was his wife’s birthday. And definitely not because GlaxoSmithKline, who now are producing tests and vaccines, are based there. Then he was seen out possibly twice more. Then his wife wrote a Spectator column full of contradictions and implying they’d been in London the whole time. Then he denied it when caught. Then refused to apologise and held an extraordinary press conference that is unprecedented for a spad.

I think Corbyn was wrong and should pay a fine but I don’t think it was worse than Cummings. Who instantly apologised for a lesser breach.
