Would you go on holiday from a lockdown area to a lockdown area?

Just that really! I was due to go on holiday October half term to an area that is in local lockdown, I am also in a local lockdown area. I’m thinking it’s probably best to cancel?

Op
You’re being really daft
Think about it

AdoreTheBeach · 26/09/2020 09:47

As previous poster said. You’re being daft

Why do you think you’re in a lock down area and what does lock down mean?

Have a good think and remember to not be selfish

gingajewel · 26/09/2020 10:17

I’m not being selfish in the slightest ffs! It was a question and didn’t need shit responses just a no I wouldn’t would have been suffficent

OP posts:
MissPoldark · 26/09/2020 10:21

I would probably still go but wouldn’t book anything new, purely because the chances you might have to isolate are much higher now and you probably wouldn’t get a refund if you couldn’t go.

Iwantacookie · 26/09/2020 10:22

Can you leave a local lockdown area without a good reason? I thought you couldnt?

MissPoldark · 26/09/2020 10:23

I’m in a lockdown area - you’re still allowed to travel for holidays.

AvoidingRealHumans · 26/09/2020 10:23

If it was still allowed under the local lockdown rules then I would go, surely it isn't though or what's the point in the lockdown

molifly14 · 26/09/2020 10:23

Why on earth would this be ok? Of course it's not and you know that

borageforager · 26/09/2020 10:24

Hang about though, if you live in eg Greater Manchester you are still allowed to leave the region, & as far as I’m aware permitted to eg go on holiday to West Yorkshire? Is this wrong?

MissPoldark · 26/09/2020 10:26

As long as it’s not Wales which has more stringent lockdown rules

mouse70 · 26/09/2020 10:26

No

Prettybluepigeons · 26/09/2020 10:27

Of course you can.
People are just making shit up! Nowhere does it say you can't travel out of your area.
Unless wales.

MissPoldark · 26/09/2020 10:27

In north east England, travel for holidays is still allowed providing its just your household/support bubble

MissPoldark · 26/09/2020 10:30

In a Q&A from a government site updated yesterday

    1. Can I still go on holiday?

You can still go on holiday within the UK or abroad, but you should only do this with people you live with (or have formed a support bubble with). You need to follow any rules in the area you visit and be aware of the self-isolation rules when travelling to and from certain countries.*

SpinningWheelOfFortune · 26/09/2020 10:36

Can't believe the shitty responses you're getting OP, you could go, it's allowed, this is from the gov website

If you live inside an area with local restrictions, you can go on holiday outside that area but you should only socialise indoors with members of your own household or support bubble

You can only stay in a private home - which includes self-catered accommodation such as holiday cottages, apartments or boats - with members of your own household or support bubble

You can stay in a hotel or similar accommodation (for example, a hostel or bed and breakfast) with another household but should avoid sharing rooms with people you do not live with or otherwise socialising indoors, for example in each other's rooms, in reception areas, or in restaurants and bars

It basically says the same thing under 'if you are visiting an area with local restrictions.

HarrietOh · 26/09/2020 10:47

Yep I’m in a local lockdown area and holidaying within the local lockdown area in a couple months. It’s currently allowed.

Juanmorebeer · 26/09/2020 10:50

It is completely allowed under the rules OP.

ReefTeeth · 26/09/2020 10:53

How can you leave aan area that is in lockdown Confused

If this is truly allowed as a pp said, then no wonder the UK is in such a mess.

NannyR · 26/09/2020 10:54

You are allowed to go on holiday as long as you only mix with members of your own household. I would check with your accommodation before you go though, I'm in an area in West Yorkshire with added restrictions and I know of people who had booked hotel breaks and the hotel cancelled and refunded them because they were from a lockdown area.

raviolidreaming · 26/09/2020 10:55

Of course you can.
People are just making shit up! Nowhere does it say you can't travel out of your area.
Unless wales

Absolutely this.

raviolidreaming · 26/09/2020 10:57

How can you leave aan area that is in lockdown

Additional restrictions is not the same as being in lockdown.

Hmmph · 26/09/2020 10:58

Regardless of the (ridiculous) local lockdown rules making it ok, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the whole country didn’t have the “circuit breaker” lockdown over half term. Therefore, unless you are full accepting that you may well lose your money, I wouldn’t book a holiday anywhere.

Stripyhoglets1 · 26/09/2020 10:58

Yes as long as you're not mixing households or doing anything banned by law.
It's not like the first lockdown you can currw tly leave your area

ChasingRainbows19 · 26/09/2020 10:59

In England you can leave a lockdown area to go on holiday... that’s in the rules. You aren’t supposed to mix with other households on holiday.

ChasingRainbows19 · 26/09/2020 11:01

Local lockdowns aren’t really lockdowns Just extra restrictions: we can’t mix with other households at home but can outside. But not in a garden. Everything is still open. Recommended to work from home and use public transport minimally but we are hardly in a lockdown where everything stops and closes. We can go on holiday.
