Would you go on holiday from a lockdown area to a lockdown area?

Just that really! I was due to go on holiday October half term to an area that is in local lockdown, I am also in a local lockdown area. I’m thinking it’s probably best to cancel?

If you’re in W Mids you’re allowed to travel out, and you’re allowed to holiday with your own household. I’d probably go to Blackpool unless the restrictions there are so tight that you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 26/09/2020 21:55

Op head for Rossall beach, it's just past Cleavleys, it's much cleaned and quieter than blackpool. It's on the tramway from Blackpool and has free parking if you're in the car.

Bedraggledmumoftwo · 26/09/2020 22:31

I'm absolutely staggered that it isn't against the rules- hadn't realised until I read this thread as I don't live in a hotspot and assumed these lockdown did what it says on the tin...
.. So if you travel briefly to somewhere abroad with over 20 cases per 100,000 then you have to shut yourself inside for 14 days without even being able to walk the dog.... But if you live somewhere with 200 per 100,000 then you can still travel around to other places? Shock That may explain why local "lockdowns" aren't working Hmm

MushMonster · 26/09/2020 22:34

100% sure no, as you cannot leave lockdown area 1 if you do not have a good reason. And holidays do not add to a good reason. Enjoy your local area! It is back to the garden and local park for us here too, and it feels disheartening to be back in it like this, but we will not doa Dominic Cummings, and check our eyesight.....

SundayReilly · 26/09/2020 22:55

No.

gingajewel · 26/09/2020 23:15

@Thehogfatherstolemycurry Thankyou for the tip, we will go and have a look 👍👍

@MushMonster I have not seen any rules that say you can’t leave a local lockdown area unless you have good reason? Please could you link this as like I said I have searched the rules and there is nothing along the lines of this!

There are no areas in England in local lockdown. None. So if you’re in England which it sounds like then go ahead

CokeEnStock · 26/09/2020 23:20

It's absolutely mad that you can leave a lock down area to go on holiday. Who thinks up these bloody rules? I wouldn't go. Lock down is lock down. If everyone does what they want all the time we will never get rid of this.

Pickagoddamnname · 26/09/2020 23:21

There are no lockdown areas!! Signs all over Bolton currently saying restrictions in place to avoid a Bolton lockdown.

How2Help · 26/09/2020 23:21

@MushMonster

I don’t understand how you can be 100% sure when as others have explained, based on the areas involved, this 100% IS allowed?

Cherrysherbet · 26/09/2020 23:22

Just because you can....doesn’t mean you should. Use common sense.

ceeveebee · 26/09/2020 23:22

I’m 100% certain that you can leave an area under local restrictions (note: they are not actually under lockdown, they are under additional restrictions) other than in South Wales. Whether that will still be the case in October remains uncertain- I would be surprised if we aren’t in a “circuit breaker” lockdown across the whole country by then.
Honestly there are so many people on mumsnet tonight who just arbitrarily post their opinion as if it’s fact without actually reading the very easily available, understandable guidelines...

CokeEnStock · 26/09/2020 23:24

So it is permissible to fly anywhere, travel anywhere in a situation where you can't go in your next door neighbours house?

ceeveebee · 26/09/2020 23:24

Yep

Pickagoddamnname · 26/09/2020 23:26

You’re bob on there coke. Makes no sense at all but that’s what it is and that’s what people are doing. Can’t go to a pub in Bolton, everyone’s just gone to Manchester and areas in Lancashire. This is what makes me mad, the media are selling it as. Lockdown but it’s just another half hearted incompetent measure from the government where they can be seen to be doing something

CokeEnStock · 26/09/2020 23:31

I am agog.

gingajewel · 26/09/2020 23:38

@Cherrysherbet but I am using my common sense, I am following government guidelines, as I have done since day one, I’m not doing anything I shouldn’t be doing!
I don’t know why people have it in there heads on this thread that I will be doing things I shouldn’t! I will be taking my kids outdoors, wearing my mask as I should, meeting with no one as I should and staying in a caravan as I’m allowed!
And pp is totally right people shouldn’t present things as fact unless they are fact!

OP posts:
gingajewel · 26/09/2020 23:40

@CokeEnStock but I’m not doing what I want? I am not breaking any rules and am following current government guidance!

OP posts:
Furbs · 26/09/2020 23:42

We are because it's allowed and we're in self contained accommodation. I wouldn't trade my house for a hotel because I'm more likely to come into contact with more people than I would at home.

HardJustGotHarder · 26/09/2020 23:43

Its people like you why this virus isnt going anywhere

Furbs · 26/09/2020 23:47

People who are following government guidelines?

OK.

friendlycat · 26/09/2020 23:48

Personally I wouldn’t.

gingajewel · 27/09/2020 07:31

@HardJustGotHarder people like me who are following all the government guidelines and rules??

OP posts:
gingajewel · 27/09/2020 07:31

@Furbs, I’m in a caravan which is self contained!
