Will you be getting the track and trace app? If not, why not?

I've downloaded it. The only info I had to give was the first half of my postcode. I'm happy to use it, I have nothing to hide! However, I know there will be people who are unhappy to use it. If you are one of them, please tell me why. Is it a civil liberties issue?

@HeIenaDove

hmm My smartphone costs me £8.50 a month through Tesco so really doesn't break the bank anyway

People arent going to commit themselves to new contracts now with cuts on the cards to pay for all this. Tories are known for targeting cuts on those with the least. People on low incomes have experience of them doing this. Actions have consequences.

Helena please don't start, nowhere did I ask you to buy a phone. I simply pointed out that the majority could own one i

If they really wanted to. Obviously no one would buy one just to get this app Confused I am not interested in a lecture, thank you. I was simply responding to your daft reply that anyone who is positive about the app should buy you a phone Hmm

I am already very familiar with your views as I have read them many many times.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/09/2020 09:55

I've downloaded tha app as it makes entry to the gym easier. However, I don't use it any other time. I object ot being tracked as I go about my business.

lljkk · 27/09/2020 12:20

I have App but keep forgetting to check in. The QR codes aren't as obvious/convenient as you might hope for. Oh well. Whole convo with someone at swim pool yesterday about putting stuff far from other people's stuff so we don't get wrong impression we were near each other for long duration; the 2 of us were actually swimming in the same lane... of anti-microbial potion, so I really don't see a risk there.

ONE case in 109,000 people identified in my area, in all of last week.

DilysPrice · 27/09/2020 12:24

Interestingly I’ve literally been turned away from a small chain cafe who insisted that they couldn’t let me in unless I registered on the NHS app because “it’s the law”. I felt that there was no chance of me convincing the charming but adamant waitress (who was using her second or third language) that the instructions she’d been given we’re bollocks, so I went round the corner to Pure which has the NHS QR code but also an older QR code which worked just fine with the evePASS app on my iPhone 6.

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 12:44

I’ve downloaded it but I have the tracing function off

If you turn the tracing off the app won't work unless bluetooth is on, why is that if the tracing is off it doesn't need Bluetooth.

Funkypolar · 27/09/2020 12:46

No room on my phone for another app. Shame!

Thesearmsofmine · 27/09/2020 13:01

Nope, my phone is too old.

FourPlasticRings · 27/09/2020 13:05

Anyone else get a text telling them to download the app?

Baaaahhhhh · 27/09/2020 13:35

FourPlasticRings. Yes, me!

Funkypolar · 27/09/2020 13:37

That text got deleted.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 27/09/2020 13:41

GBK wouldn't allow us to eat in today as I didn't have the app. I pointed out it wasn't and that I was perfectly happy to to leave my details but wasn't downloading the app but apparently it's the law.

TheWindOnTheMoon · 27/09/2020 13:44

Got the text last night. DH hasn't had one nor has DD.

Waitrose café this morning had a sign by the till telling customers to check in using the app. I haven't downloaded it.

TinySleepThief · 27/09/2020 13:46

I'm sorry they were so annoying, I'm a petty person I would have stood there and shown them the guidance, then left out of principle. This app is voluntary it's stupid that they think otherwise and clearly they dont need your custom.
HeresMe · 27/09/2020 13:46

Same as lockdown apparently lots of people making up own laws up about app.

Whattheduck · 27/09/2020 13:52

Dh received a text and I received an email but neither of us are going to download it.If I try to go somewhere that insists you can only enter if you have the app then I won’t bother.I would gladly leave my details like I did recently at our local pub but I have no intention of using the app.

daisychain01 · 27/09/2020 14:11

@HeresMe

I expect it's to place the burden onto the consumer to log themselves in via the app rather than them having the administrative ballache of physical paper records with people's details on.
ScubaSteven · 27/09/2020 14:24

Some of the reasons people have on here for not using the app are pathetic!

Mainly the people who say they can’t self isolate if they’ve come into contact with someone who has tested positive. You’re part of the problem and the reason that this will just go on and on!

Why people can’t just cooperate and do their bit is beyond me. If you’ve been in contact with someone who has tested positive then the responsible thing to do is to isolate, then you’ll be less likely to spread it to some unsuspecting person. Choosing to ignore that is disgusting behaviour. Sorry if that’s not convenient, it’s not convenient to catch Covid if you’re one of the previous shielders.

ChaChaCha2012 · 27/09/2020 14:40

*Mainly the people who say they can’t self isolate if they’ve come into contact with someone who has tested positive"

Can you explain how you've linked these two things please?

DilysPrice · 27/09/2020 14:43

I’d have more respect for them if they said “we only accept T&T registration by app or online because the paper version is more trouble than it’s worth, feel free to go elsewhere if you don’t have a smartphone”. Discriminating against potential customers because they’re poor or frugal is not only legal but unavoidable within capitalism.

Saying “we only accept the NHS app” is annoying because other methods of online registration are available. Saying “it’s the law” is annoying because it’s a lie.

However if someone was unable to use a smartphone by reason of disability (can’t think of a disability which would apply but there probably are some) then the business would be legally required to accept paper reg.

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 14:49

You mean when I travel by bus to my job which is over 15 mins and I am and the other person is wearing a mask but they are sat a few seats away, so it happens once I have to isolate, then happens again so have to isolate again who is paying my bills when I get SSP.

Yeah it's pathetic not being able to feed yourself or pay your rent. Yeah really pathetic.

It isn't going away.

ScubaSteven · 27/09/2020 15:07

@HeresMe I said some of the reasons. Not all of them. Some.

But regardless, if you've had prolonged contact with a positive case then you should be isolating to prevent the spread. Don't shoot the messenger. The more we follow the rules the more protection we offer the vulnerable.

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 15:09

But regardless, if you've had prolonged contact with a positive case then you should be isolating to prevent the spread.

So 20 minutes both wearing masks not face to face, you are clueless about real world.

People can't afford to isolate why can't you afford.

HeresMe · 27/09/2020 15:10

Get that.

ScubaSteven · 27/09/2020 15:10

@ChaChaCha2012 well if you read the thread there are a lot of posters who say that they won't download the app and that they won't or can't isolate anyway. So the link is that they are looking for reasons not to download it so they can plead ignorant and not have to isolate.

I thought that was pretty self explanatory really.

ScubaSteven · 27/09/2020 15:11

@HeresMe I don't make the rules! I'm not the government! But if under that situation you're told to isolate then there is a reason for it.

Stop blaming me 😂
