NHS Covid-19: App users unable to input negative tests
People in England who test negative for Covid-19 are unable to share the result with the new NHS app for England and Wales if they did not book the test through it in the first place.
The app asks for a code to register a test result but a code is only received if the test is positive.
Those who enter that they have symptoms without entering a result find a self-isolation countdown begins.
There are also some positive results which cannot be uploaded.
Wow. Just wow.
The "I've nothing to hide" argument always falls done on the assumption that the data on you is correct.
This app has failed immediately on this score.
This 'bug' in the system means that people trying to do the right thing, and testing negative could find themselves put 'into isolation' by the app. So barred from accessing things through no fault of their own.
They also could trigger a bunch of 'false positive' results for people who end up pinging them.
Just to point out that in most places over 90% of tests results come back negative, so if you enter you have symptoms but can't enter you have tested negative, this is a little bit of an issue.
It makes the whole system completely unusable and likely to cause problems and undermine trust in the system which it should be because if the app is doing this, its not just got 'a few teething issues that all new apps get', its an app which hasn't been properly tested and any good developer will tell you, that if they released an app this fundamentally flawed to their customers, they'd be lucky to keep their job!
