Bar Luga shut Sad

Boro is definitely the north east not north yorks. Never heard anyone from there claiming they are from Yorkshire Grin

Brieminewine · 01/10/2020 12:41

Is the local lockdown getting reviewed today? I thought when it was first announced they said it was for a two week period and then would be looked at again, but not heard anything else?

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/10/2020 12:49

Hope you don't mind be butting in with a quick question for those of you in the area...my dad may be travelling from Scotland over the border to visit mum who is in Northumberland, think they would be Ok doing this as both alone and be a 'support bubble'?

Anyway I called Scotrail and they said fine to travel just need to book to Berwick and need to wear a mask. Would they ask about travel in the bus in Berwick do you think? Just don't want him getting stopped and Nicola was funny about travel over the border. In fact will need to check as bus from Berwick to rural village where mum is was stopped for a while completely Hmm leaving her with no way to get shopping...

I suspect we'll be locked down for another two weeks - haven't seen anything to say this though
Dowser · 01/10/2020 18:37

@Willyoujustbequiet
Middlesbrough used to be in N Yorks
I regularly took my son for ear, nose and throat ops at the north riding infirmary on Newport rd where the aldi and travelodge now stand

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/10/2020 18:38

@NotQuiteUsual

Teachers were handing out the children's online learning login details at home time today sparking all sorts of quiet panic on the playground Grin I just think they want to get homework all paperless. Much easier with all this going on.

My head muttered something about making sure it was all done by yesterday (we haven't yet but could very easily if needed) so I think it may have been a dfe directive. I've stopped looking at updates tbh so lost track.

Dowser · 01/10/2020 18:51

@Bearfrills
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but an effective vaccine is a long way off
www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8775855/Will-vaccine-really-silver-bullet-praying-Asks-DR-ELLIE-CANNON.html

And two women got the very distressing condition transverse myelitis while on the vaccine trial

www.nytimes.com/2020/09/19/health/astrazeneca-vaccine-safety-blueprints.html

Even the most ardent fan of vaccines is not going to want something that’s been so rushed and they could end up being seriously paralysed with loss of mobility , loss of sexual function and loss of continence and even if you do get used to your body changes, there’s no guarantees that it won’t flare up again
A good friend of mine started off as L4 and is now T2

BexR · 01/10/2020 19:29

@Orangeblossom7777 I cant see him being challenged. If he is he can just say he is a support bubble to a single person.

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/10/2020 19:50

Thanks yes I checked and can have those bubbles between Scotland and England so should be OK.

FrolickingLemon · 01/10/2020 20:17

@Dowser that SNP MP should be shot. What an utter disgrace. When you try to bring your kids up to do the right thing, and they have missed out on so much. Then a supposed person in power who should be leading by example breaks the rules, it just makes a mockery of everything.

BexR · 01/10/2020 20:34

What do people think about people meeting up in parks? A friend is trying to organise an outdoor get-together and if everyone accepted it would be at least 8 people.

I'm going to say no (cos it's a mixed message for my child and advised against by govt). But I'm very anxious about covid and sometimes wonder if I'm being overly cautious...

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 01/10/2020 21:29

A park is a public place isn't it so no mixing of households. Crap but...

ScottishStottie · 01/10/2020 22:07

Max 6 in any situation i thought? Think in a park you could have different households (against guidence but not law) but sti cant be more than 6

juneybean · 01/10/2020 22:08

Thought local restrictions still in place, so we cannot meet anyone?

BexR · 01/10/2020 22:15

I think it's illegal to meet indoors with another household.

Whereas its advised against to meet other households outdoors. Not sure if it then becomes illegal if the outdoor group is over 6.

I've lost track so just plan to not meet anyone anywhere Confused

Toothsil · 01/10/2020 22:47

Hi 👋 I'm in North Northumberland. I haven't read the full thread but wanted to say hi. Not many cases at all locally for us but we're in the local lockdown.

juneybean · 01/10/2020 23:05

Ah you are right Bex sorry!

Just looked it up and it is still law no more than 6 in a public setting such as a park.

Mammyloveswine · 02/10/2020 06:03

Oooh just stumbled across this!

I'm in north Tyneside but teach (primary) in Newcastle. No confirmed cases in my school (yet!).

Hi everyone! 👋

IggyAce · 02/10/2020 07:19

Just catching up, I’m now sandwiched between 2 lockdown areas here in Teesside and chances are we will follow suit shortly. Have to say I’m confused about what rules apply where.

Orangeblossom7777 · 02/10/2020 08:27

Hi, just to confirm it is Ok to meet inside in a support bubble ...in case this helps others at all..

Households within a bubble can still visit each other, stay overnight, and visit public places together

BikeTyson · 02/10/2020 08:34

I’ll be honest I’ve met up with my sister and niece in the playground but I don’t think I’d meet in a group of 8. Not because of the covid risk which is minimal outdoors (I’m really annoyed that the government have put the same law on gardens as inside houses because it makes them look the same level of risk when indoors is way worse) but I think it’s just too many, it feels a bit blatant.

FrolickingLemon · 02/10/2020 10:10

So DDs school were due to do school photographs today. But text came through to say unfortunately the photographer was unable to make it. I reckon this translates to them either having Covid or self isolating with symptoms. The more I think about it, the more I think it was a pretty irresponsible decision to go ahead with photos this year. The photographer will clearly have moving between lots of different schools as they usually do. Appreciate they need to earn money. But farcical when I think about how kids are supposed to be in bubbles.

Plussizejumpsuit · 02/10/2020 11:07

Thanks for all the comme on where Middlesbrough is. It's Bern fairly inconclusive so far!!! Grin keep them coming.

@PennyDreadfuI are we only supposed to do essejourneys? I didn't think that was a rule here?

PennyDreadfuI · 02/10/2020 11:45

@Plussizejumpsuit on public transport it's essential journeys only - just advised though, not law. I still maintain that a cake fix counts as essential Grin
