Ashington and Shildon looking worrying with today's released figures. South Shields no longer has that dark blue area, which is hopeful for the rest of us.

Hello, I've name changed.

I just wanted to say that if you're watching ITV tonight, there's going to be the story a little girl I know who was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive brain cancer.

We are desperately trying to raise money to give her life prolonging treatment that she can't have here. She hasn't been given very long to live.

There's a campaign that can be found on Facebook if anyone is interested, lights for Lily. It's desperately sad.

Dementedswan · 27/09/2020 19:25

Where do you find the numbers for an individual town? Northumberland is a big area. Is this broken down somewhere?

nildesparandum · 27/09/2020 19:59

Hello everyone I am in Nrecastle and posted on the previous thread once or twice.
I am true Geordie born and bred with a bit of Irish somewhere in my blood.I an of an age and have a medical condition to go with it when I should be shielding but had enough of that in the previous lockdown Was turning into a caged animal after four weeks so I am largely ignoring the stay at home rule this time.Have a granddaughter living with me so not alone.
My youngest granddaughter is in sixth form and her sixth form building has had to close because another pupil has been tested positive for covid, so upsetting as she studying for A levels.
Where I live people wear their masks round their chins so they can smoke when outside.
I notice the shops in town are selling off most of their clothes as no one buying many new clothes now as they have no where to go out to.
Are we going to be allowed to have a Christmas?
Ta Ra for now will report back soon

Dementedswan · 27/09/2020 20:06

Thank you! Is that figures for today or over a period? Shows 33 cases in my town

BessieSurtees · 27/09/2020 20:08

I’ve not checked in for a while and missed a lot on this thread. Does anyone know how the NHS app works? I was in the opticians for an hour does it only track others during that hour, do you scan in and out like clocking on? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Went to Tynemouth market today, it was much busier than I expected and less than 10% wearing masks including food traders. Had a long walk along the coast instead, Allards was chocca, queues outside the fish shop and it didn’t feel like a lot of social distancing going on.

Then a friend posted a photo, 12 of them had gone into a pub and sat at 6 tables together, it seems not everyone is taking it seriously.

juneybean · 27/09/2020 20:30

Hebburn still dark blue!

BikeTyson · 27/09/2020 20:39

I did notice a group of women sitting smoking just outside the entrance to Freeman hospital car park when I was taking DD to Paddy Freeman’s this morning. They looked like they might be staff just finished a shift - I know employers can’t control people outside work time but it didn’t feel like a good look for the NHS, they were right next to each other, no distance between any of them and obviously no masks as they were smoking. I kind of hate that I’ve even started thinking this way.

Just watching the Antiques Roadshow and god covid has even done for that. All the (predominantly elderly) people queueing up and huddling in close round the expert - it’s only been 6 months and it already feels really incongruous.

Shitfuckoh · 27/09/2020 21:06

Hiya,
Quiet weekend at home this weekend. Did go out for a walk yesterday but today we've stayed indoors. The weekend has flown over again - mine seems to have been spent playing, charging screens, washing, cooking & providing snacks!

PickAChew · 27/09/2020 22:27

I haven't left the house, this weekend. Dh has taken Ds2 out for a couple of walks. He has been incredibly anxious about school and the possibility of it all being taken away from him and has been ticcing constantly and lost all executive function - can't finish a sentence, wetting constantly and struggling to dress himself. DS1 has been struggling with the noise and dh is pretty wrung out.

I need to head to the post office, tomorrow, so will make it the one in the arse end of an estate rather than the city centre where all the students are.

Someaddedsugar · 28/09/2020 06:05

@PickAChew hope you're all ok. Hopefully schools won't close to keep routines and stability for those that need it.

DP is going for his operation today after it was cancelled last week so hoping he's in and out in the day!

PickAChew · 28/09/2020 08:39

Thanks @Someaddedsugar. He must have been exhausted because we actually had to hoof him out of bed, this morning. He was much calmer though and back to wittering on about cars and buses and the "out and about" YouTube videos he watches obsessively and even broke into a pub singer style rendition of New Years Day while he was in the bath.

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/09/2020 09:48

Someone on fb has mentioned that the guardian are hinting at new further restrictions up here???

I can't find anything?

I can't work out what the hell else they can do?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/09/2020 09:51

@PickAChew I'm so sorry to hear that.

I think local sen heads are very determined to keep them open.

Even though this causes me personally some anxiety as I'm CV, I want them to stay open for our children. We've seen that for some groups lockdown has been extremely unsettling (or worse) and we all know how important the routine of school is.

I hope he's ok and you all have a good week.

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/09/2020 10:06

Thanks!

I'm not doing any of that anyway! Hadn't realised the meeting someone outside was advisory. And a bit annoyed that will be taken away!

Plussizejumpsuit · 28/09/2020 10:41

Due to take my grandma to the GP today. App there's been an out break at the surgery. So trying to find out if her appointment is on. And as she is 84 whether I should take her!

@BessieSurtees
They were talking about the app on radio 4 today prog. Just caught a bit of it. But they said if you check in to a venue it resets at 12 midnight. So say you just have a quick half and leave a pub after 30 min then 2 hr later somone who ends up testing positive checks in then stays for 3 hours they will still send you an alert. But just to watch for symptoms not to isolate. So there seems to be some issues.

BessieSurtees · 28/09/2020 11:39

Thanks @Plussizejumpsuit, this is what I was thinking if I went into M&S for an hour would I get a notification of anyone who had been in M&S on that day who subsequently uploaded a positive test? That doesnt seem very workable to me as I'm watching for symptoms anyway.

Hope your grandma gets sorted, it's a worry this lack of access to GP's and healthcare.

MissEWeatherwax · 28/09/2020 15:22

Heard on local radio that Durham University students have been told to stay in their college/room until Wednesday.

IggyAce · 28/09/2020 15:32

Well had a letter and email from both my kids schools (primary the other secondary) to say there has been a positive case in the school community but the pupil in question wasn’t in school when they became symptomatic there is no impact to the wider school community. I assume the individuals were already in isolation.

Plussizejumpsuit · 28/09/2020 15:35

@BessieSurtees yeah it seems to have some issues!

It's annoying with my grandma as it was a follow up after some tests and we'd only got the test after I'd intervened. So I'm now wondering how long it will take to get another. Still can't be helped.

NotQuiteUsual · 28/09/2020 15:38

Hiya! Just moved to Ashington a few weeks ago and feeling very isolated in our new dark blue town with the new restrictions making finding friends and stuff to do very hard.

Dds school has had a positive case, but no one she's been in close contact with. Where I lived before was barely effected feels very weird going from that to one of the worst effected areas in the country!

NotQuiteUsual · 28/09/2020 15:43

Oh I forgot to ask, any recommendations for good stuff to do with a young family that's covid safe? We went swimming at the leisure centre at the weekend and it seemed safe enough. But would like to get out and about a bit more, although it's tempting to just hide inside all day at the minute.

HugeAckmansWife · 28/09/2020 16:03

Infinite Air in Durham is open.. My kids have been loving that.
