DS had a test Sunday afternoon after developing a cough most likely from the heavy cold he had but the cough is dry and persistent so got the test..

Guy who took our test said 24-48 hours.

He 48 hours this afternoon. When do I chase it up?!

What time of day to test results usually come through??

We are in the south west of England where cases are generally low.

It can be up to 72 hours so I'd give it until tomorrow at the earliest before chasing.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/09/2020 09:13

Posted too soon Blush Our results came through between 49 & 50 hours later (more than one of us tested).

tryingmybest29 · 22/09/2020 09:40

Thank you. Does the text and email come through the same time? As read somewhere there could be a gap. Been checking for texts not emails - but nothing on my emails! 😬

I'm also awaiting results from a 1pm Sunday test. I'll let you know when it arrives, should imagine it varies on where you live.

I have three DCs with no symptoms begrudgingly sat waiting to get back to school, I've never felt so guilty for having a cough!

Fingers crossed it'll be soon! DS has a cough. More than likely from the heavy cold but 🤷‍♀️ DD's fine and off school too obviously. Hubby missing work - I'm not luckily! Done with this already! Going to be a long winter!

Just about, I think it was 5-10min difference in our case for all of them, email first then text.

Waiting for results from 11am Sunday test. First result unclear. With delays in getting tests it has now been a week today.

REALLY fucked off with the government shambles what a waste of time.

BlueGreyGreens · 22/09/2020 10:39

Waiting on 2 Sunday tests here too.

tryingmybest29 · 22/09/2020 11:09

Thanks all. Still waiting. I'm so impatient. I'm keeping myself busy and keep going back to look at my phone and disappointed when nothings there 😭😭

Probably doesn’t depend on where you live but where your test went. Having said that, I’d be shocked if the labs were dramatically different.

My test was received in the lab at 7.30 Saturday morning and got my results 7.00 Monday morning. Home test. Not sure how long it takes for testing centre tests to reach labs.

tryingmybest29 · 22/09/2020 11:17

Thank you. Ours was a drive in. Seems to be a huge variation between different tests, people and areas. Fingers crossed it soon!!

Nearly 48 hours now..

My DC was tested yesterday evening and got his results just before 7am this morning, he went to a drive in too but we're in NI so that probably makes a difference. Hopefully you get them very soon!

Lumene · 22/09/2020 15:49

Has been over 48 hours (Sun morning) so I called 119 to ask about the test. The nice lady on the other end says their guidelines are they can’t escalate any tests not received until the day after 48 hours. So more like 60 to 72 hours before they would be able to look into why your result is not received.

So far considering wait for a test plus wait for results that is a week of education lost, a week of work and cancelled celebration trips that would have put several £100 into the economy.

Totally unnecessary with a working testing system.

Fuck you Boris.

Any news yet trying?

I am so fed up.

It's the 'it could arrive at any moment' element that winds me up the most. Everyone ready to leap back to work school, but silence.

tryingmybest29 · 22/09/2020 18:16

Thank you @Lumene maybe I'll try ringing early tomorrow!

I feel your pain. I have been glued to my phone all day. I keep putting it somewhere out of my sight just to get some things done but I'm so distracted by it!!

I’m still waiting for a Sunday test too...

lollymad · 22/09/2020 18:27

Same here! Almost identical situation, DS heavy cold but developed a cough, and that coupled with knowing school would send him home and ask for a test, took him 1.30pm on Sunday.

He's Y6, DD is Y10 so both missing important learning (not that other years are any less important). DH doesn't get paid if he doesn't work, and I'm missing school when I should be teaching Y11 who missed far too much last year.

So annoying that they are still saying 24-48 hours when you hand the test in, if that's not achievable for the majority.

Sorry, just needed to add my own rant!!!

snaxinyourslacks · 22/09/2020 18:29

Small town in the North West. Drive through test at 10.30am Saturday, results 6.30am Sunday. I was shocked at how fast it was!

BlueGreyGreens · 22/09/2020 18:30

Yep, I have wasted much of my day for that reason. My own fault of course but it's horrible/distracting waiting when life/work/school depends on the results.

DH and I were talking about this earlier and if someone said that once you've done it once it's done, then it would be way less stressful. I dread telling my employer I won't be in every morning it goes on, and panic rises when I think that this could be the first of many family isolations! We have reasonably secure jobs and understanding employers too... although surely any employer has limits? I don't get paid when I'm off but we don't rely on my pay for bills. I truly dread to think how stressful it is for those in perilous jobs, self employed, zero hours contracts etc. Grim.

Nomorescreentime · 22/09/2020 18:33

I was told to ring if I didn’t hear anything within 72 hours. We were very lucky though, took the test at 9am yesterday and has result 6.30am this morning!

Freeekedout · 22/09/2020 18:33

Tested at Newbury 7.30pm on Sunday, results back 6pm Monday.

BlueGreyGreens · 22/09/2020 18:40

It's reassuring that some people are getting fast test results. I'd like to think it was possible next time which will probably be in a few days once my other kids catch whatever me and DS have.
