Is anyone actually still behind the Prime Minister?

I don't think he has handled the pandemic as well as he could tbh and i've noticed the tide turning on here recently very much against him. The right wing media are really getting restless with Boris as well and of course the left are sticking the knife in.

I think a lot of people cut him loads of slack because it was an unprecedented situation and then he got really ill himself (I don't think his 'shake hands with the virus' attitude was sensible either) which set the government back in their response. Then he was let down by his main advisor which has eroded confidence in his administration.

How can Boris get a hold of this and the government approach to Covid and get everyone back on side again? 9 months ago he won one of the biggest landslides ever, to huge fanfare. It's a bit of a downfall at the moment, he still has a chance to recover it.

Boris needs to unite the country again.

Yes I'm sure his so called friends are whetting those knives as we speak. ...it really is like reading the first two acts of Julius Caesar.

jasjas1973 · 21/09/2020 22:05

Well far be it from me to revel in someone's downfall, but I will enjoy the public failure of this corrupt, hubristic serial liar. A lot

Well, i despise the tory party BUT i had hoped Bojo would have acted in the national interest, both with CV and Brexit but he hasn't and that is terrible for our country.

He wont fall far though, he'll make a fortune on the public speech circuits.

OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 21/09/2020 22:17

I'll enjoy it when it comes too, though I can't quite shake off the idea that he's probably going to be much happier as an ex PM than a sitting one.

StealthPolarBear · 21/09/2020 22:27

Op you've described perfectly how I felt back in March. Didn't vote for them, don't like him but felt matt Hancock was OK and was backing them, unprecedented situation, doing their best etc etc.
Since then their lies and incompetence have been something else, and Boris stuck two fingers up at us the public when he refused to sack or even berate Cummings. But the most worrying thing about that is what is the hold Cummings has over him? What else has he done that we don't know about yet?

VickySunshine · 21/09/2020 22:35

Me, I'm behind him. He's had Covid, he knows exactly how serious it can be and he's trying to save lives. Plus he cannot ignore the scientific or medical advice.

KaptainKaveman · 21/09/2020 22:43

Very amusing post Vickysunshine.
How exactly is he "saving lives"?

ohthegoats · 21/09/2020 23:05

He's revolting.

JamieLeeCurtains · 21/09/2020 23:08

@ohthegoats

He's revolting.
Yes, he is, in the sense of being utterly repulsive.
TheVanguardSix · 21/09/2020 23:11

He's not fit for purpose.

Dustballs · 21/09/2020 23:30

Let’s be honest. This Tory government is totally shit.

amieejust · 21/09/2020 23:35

Never liked him but then started to at the start of Covid, then disliked him again when he spinelessly stood by Cummings.

He's full of bluster, big words, out of his depth and cannot be taken seriously or respected after the Cummings fiasco.

IdblowJonSnow · 21/09/2020 23:35

Only if I could shove him off something high.
Wish they'd stop fannying around and just have a,lockdown NOW for a few weeks. Buy some time at least.

Howslifenow · 21/09/2020 23:37

Yes. Cummings.

SeekingCoffee33 · 21/09/2020 23:40

Good old Boris. Never explain. Never apologise. Never lead....

What a shit show

Oncemorewithfeelin · 22/09/2020 05:58

He’s a clueless oaf that fucked up his response to the pandemic. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s trying to let COVID run riot so when brexit happens and the economy collapses he can say it’s all the coronavirus fault.

The80sweregreat · 22/09/2020 07:47

Michael Gove is on now ( bbc one) I am not a fan of his at all , but at least his clear and concise. I wouldn't want him as our leader but at least he isn't blustering and makes a bit of sense.
Have to see what happens today with the new measures announcements.

MarshaBradyo · 22/09/2020 07:51

He had such a landslide but is not a good fit for leading now

It’s a bit worrying he is making the decisions but I’m glad the people around him are better

jasjas1973 · 22/09/2020 08:03

If only that were true!
Sunak was behind the Eat out to Help out scheme but 3 weeks later, we all told stay in!!!
Raab didn't know about the port of Dover, Hancock told us all he was about to draft a new law to allow nurses to give vaccinations and an Education secretary who as Defence sec, wanted to send the "Fleet to the south china seas.... to show China we mean business!!! and then there is the results fiasco.

On top of all that, every minister backed Cummings and just days ago, backed returning to the office....

Gove was the one that planted the myth of the hour a day exercise and also said that he would go for a drive to test his eyesight
Albustydumbledore · 22/09/2020 08:12

That'l be a no.

CherryPavlova · 22/09/2020 08:14

Overt corruption and nepotism
Law breaking that risks peace
Lying
Incompetent and disinterested
Self serving and despising of ‘the common man’
Disaster capitalist
Racist
Mysoginist
Toadying and subservient to unelected dictators
Encourage far right activities

And yet people think he’s a bit of a character. He’s an inept and arrogant buffoon.

The80sweregreat · 22/09/2020 08:19

I did say I wasn't a fan of Micheal Gove!
However, today he was just so much better than Boris .. I know it's a low bar.

MrsCollinssettled · 22/09/2020 08:21

It all went to hell in a handbasket with Cummings. His holiday denial was as risible as Clinton's "I did not have sex with that woman" claim.

I am firmly convinced that Boris's conservative rivals were more than happy for him to royally fuck up to get him out of their way. He was always going to be a thorn in their side until he had achieved his ambition to be PM and they don't want him challenging for the leadership ever again. None of them have any interest in the wellbeing of the country unless it personally impacts on them

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 22/09/2020 08:27

Gove is definitely better than Boris a much clearer speaker, he just had a habit of saying what he thinks when it isn’t one of the rules and then people think it is, he did the same with masks when he said we wouldn’t have to wear them, then Boris said the next day we would.
