What does everyone think the announcement will be tomorrow?

I think it’ll be:

No mixing of households across the country, not just the North
Curfews on pubs
Using public transport for necessary journeys only

Today I think will be a big telling off with lots of dire warnings. Then in a few days there'll be another announcement (possibly from Matt Hancock first as Boris prefers to do the positive ones) which will be basically because you didn't heed the warnings we have to impose all these extra restrictions. Boris will probably pop up to tell us we can save Christmas if we all just do as we are told now. Hopefully nobody bans households mixing before Wednesday morning as I'm supposed to meet a friend for coffee who I havent seen since March. .......

I think the same. They love to ease us into more rules and regulations, and say it's our fault, like viruses are piss easy to 'control'.
kirinm · 21/09/2020 10:26

The irony of the telling us off. I'm pretty compliant but if we get a telling off they can fuck right off. They just do not have the authority anymore.

Angelw · 21/09/2020 10:28

It will be a briefing about current statistics then why Another lockdown for 6 months Is unavoidable Grin

bunters · 21/09/2020 10:34

If they say no mixing of households but still keep the bloody pubs open then we're all doomed. I know the hospitality industry is trouble, but prioritising the opening of bars and restaurants over nurseries and schools was insane. There's no way of knowing the harm done to the economy by having parents (ahem, mainly mothers) losing their minds trying to juggle childcare and work

wanderings · 21/09/2020 10:36

Dominic Cummings, everyone. He broke the roolz, with no shame at all. Do not forget him, even though Saint Boris hopes we will.

I'm still astonished that there haven't been riots.

People are too busy blaming their neighbours for everything to care about what the government are up to.
Chersfrozenface · 21/09/2020 10:40

So, using public transport for necessary journeys only...

What does 'necessary journeys' mean? And what would 'non-essential journeys' be?

I haven't been able to find a definition anywhere. Since pubs and shops are open, would you be allowed to take the bus to the pub or a train to a larger population centre to buy from a specialist shop, say?

upsidedownwavylegs · 21/09/2020 10:41

I’m hoping whoever said ‘windows open everywhere’ was just guessing or I’ll be launching myself straight out of mine.

BaconAndAvocado · 21/09/2020 10:43

Do we think they will close the schools again?

please God no

@RegularHumanBartender

Don't go to work, unless you have to go to work then go to work, but don't catch the bus, unless you have to catch the bus then you can catch the bus but wear a mask, unless you can't wear a mask then don't wear a mask.

Don't see Auntie Pat in her conservatory, but feel free to see Dave and the rest of the lads in 'spoons, but only until 10 at which point you will all obviously go back to Dave's kitchen.

This is all your fault for going to Nandos in August anyway.

Something like that I reckon.

Lol

Close the pubs
Part time school
Say sorry for listing restrictions too early.

AnyFucker · 21/09/2020 10:48

Placemarking for the announcement

Iwantacookie · 21/09/2020 10:48

Maybe well get the science on why Cummings driving all that way did not pose a risk so it was legal.
I just hope if they bring new restrictions in we get a few days notice. I've got a few errands to run.

wanderings · 21/09/2020 10:48

I play and umpire netball, which was due to resume this time next week. I'm still clinging to the hope that it might remain: the game now contains stringent safety measures, with modifications to the game to make it more "covid safe". Will all this be in vain? Does it count as "work"? People pay to play it, which brings in much-needed income for leisure centres, councils (many courts are in parks), schools. And it's exercise, and good for health.

Saint Boris (a shining example of fitness and health) told us that we're too fat (yet he threw "eat out to help out" at us). Is he going to shut down people's exercise, and paid work?

Just because one person broke the rules doesn’t mean everyone should. It’s like saying it’s ok to steal as x did. There will always be people who don’t follow rules or break the law, however most don’t and we should lead by example and teach our children to follow them.

I’m hoping for part time or remote learning from secondary onwards to stop the large gatherings and it’s not such an issue childcare wise as at that age they should be fine to study by themselves.

Dahlietta · 21/09/2020 10:55

I don't think the Scientist guys would announce anything without a politician (probably Boris) present so today will just be a telling off. I think this week Boris will announce no mixing households and a pub curfew.

RedskyAtnight · 21/09/2020 10:55

Wikipedia is already claiming (disclaimer - I know Wikipedia is not an accurate source and this has not happened to the best of my knowledge at time of writing)

"In September 2020, Whitty announced further restrictions in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the United Kingdom, by imposing a second national lockdown."

Fabulous! I'm expecting to hear that exactly word for word! GrinGringrin[]grin]

I wouldn't have thought so a few months ago, but at this point it wouldn't surprise me if they pulled straws for who had to deliver the news.

Do these rules apply to BLM and the other numpties rioting in London or is just us poor dummies who obey the rules?

Lemming20 · 21/09/2020 11:01

Whitby looks exhausted

CamelotSweetheart · 21/09/2020 11:02

The one age group who noticeably were not were teens. Groups of up to 12 none of whom were wearing masks - either in shops or in the enclosed shopping centre. I’m not a teen basher - I have my own - but I do think something needs to be done about this

It's not fair on them to cram them into a classroom of 30 together with no masks and no social distancing from Monday to Friday and then expect them to abide by "the rules" all weekend. What a mixed message that is!

kirinm · 21/09/2020 11:04

BLM protests were months ago. Since then we've had fascists and the anti-mask morons. Funny how BLM are the only group you actually name.
