Still no results...!

DD2 has a cough on Tuesday/Wednesday (with a cold... no temperature). Ordered home test and posted it back Wednesday afternoon- tracking shows it was received at testing lab at 8am on Thursday. Was hoping for results this morning but still nothing - anyone with first hand of timeframes for home tests being returned at the moment?

We have a dinner arranged tonight with two friends I haven't seen in a long time and really didn't want to cancel seeing as DD hasn't coughed once since Wednesday afternoon! DD1 (12) is itching to go into town with her friends and is being pretty vile in the meantime... the worst part of isolation!

My son did a test at a drive through on Tuesday and we still don't have the results. I rang 119 but theres an automated messaging saying they won't trace results because of high call volumes then just cuts off. We are demented

Scantilydoesit · 19/09/2020 10:47

I've booked my daughter in for one today. I have an echocardiogram on Monday which has taken months to be booked in and I'm worried they wont be back in time.

PointlessUsername · 19/09/2020 10:50

@Scantilydoesit

Ours have just came back in less than 24 hours. So not all talking a long time.

FAQs · 19/09/2020 11:04

They are probably overwhelmed with people ordering test kits for a common cold.

namedchange112 · 19/09/2020 11:06

@FAQs they probably are but nursery won't take DD back without a test and I can't afford 2 weeks off work without pay whilst still paying £300 a week for childcare I can't use...

Phone and check it's registered online. There is a problem with the registration of tests 🥴

wherestheotherone · 19/09/2020 11:14

Just seen post about call line 🙄. What is the point of 119 exactly?

namedchange112 · 19/09/2020 11:48

@wherestheotherone I registered it myself before sending it

@namedchange112 it’s crazy isn’t it. It’s a fine line between common sense and being over cautious. Hopefully you get it back quickly.

RMarieClaire · 19/09/2020 14:30

We had one last week that took 25 hours. Expecting one yesterday to take 48-72 based on what Ive heard.
I think there's a real issue with testing in young children and toddlers. My daughter had a test yesterday because our doctor advised us to, but we were quite anti it. She had tonsillitis and thus a fever. She also first developed a fever a week ago and we got a test the next day, so now that's two tests in one week. Toddlers get temperatures constantly - the system is bound to get overwhelmed if we aren't allowed to use common sense and when a fever is explained by something else don't be expected to test.

UnaMujer · 19/09/2020 15:37

I had one a while ago when it was still easy to get a test. I never got the result!

BighouseLittlemouse · 19/09/2020 16:12

Hi @namedchange112 - have you had results yet?

I have excatly the same timeline as you and also no results yet!

namedchange112 · 19/09/2020 16:22

Just arrived! Negative so dinner is back on!

OP posts:
Scantilydoesit · 19/09/2020 17:13

I put it off for a day or two thinking it was the common cold but when she got a temp and started coughing, I knew they wouldn't let her back into school. Fingers crossed pointless - that's good news.. It's so bloody difficult separating 3 kids from each other under the same roof!

Glad it's neg OP

Scantilydoesit · 19/09/2020 17:14

I have to say it was very easy for me to book the test (Newport s.wales). There were plenty of appointments a mile away. there were a few cars in front and behind us but certainly not packed.

BighouseLittlemouse · 19/09/2020 17:20

Glad you’ve heard OP.

Starting to think mine is maybe lost!

Mippi · 19/09/2020 17:23

How do you track it to see if it's been received?

namedchange112 · 19/09/2020 20:57

@Mippi my box had a tracking number for Royal Mail on it

RMarieClaire · 20/09/2020 18:17

@Scantilydoesit wow! Where are you based? We're at 51 hours 😬

littlestpogo · 20/09/2020 18:22

I’m at nearly 96 now ..

RMarieClaire · 20/09/2020 18:25

@littlestpogo that's awful. Possible they lost them. Was it postal?

PheasantPlucker1 · 20/09/2020 18:30

I had a test sat morning, no result yet.

We are stretched at work as it is, if I dont turn up tomorrow I dont know if there will be anyone to cover.

Has anyone got results overnight or am I doomed?

allinvain · 20/09/2020 18:42

My daughter had a test 11am Friday and nothing yet.
Was hoping to be back at work tomorrow. It took me two whole days just to get a test. I've been off work since Wednesday.
