Are you going to wash uniform every day?

I would usually wash dcs uniform on a Wednesday. They'd have two sets, fresh set on a Monday, and then they'd have a fresh set to wear to school on a Thursday, unless they'd spilt something on it or it was visibly dirty then of course it would be changed.

Are most people going to be changing theirs everyday due to Covid?

Primary Headteacher has sent a letter saying that all dc must be in fresh clothes every day. Secondary teacher has sent a letter saying it's not necessary. So the primary aged dc uniform will be washed daily and we will probably carry on as normal with the secondary aged dc (clean shirt and trousers every 2 days unless dirty, blazers washed every weekend and ties washed in school holidays.

Because I have mucky boys, I’ve always bought them 5 pairs of trousers and five shirts. I somehow have scraped by with having 2 or 3 school jumpers and blazers. Even ties can be an issued. Left at school, covered in gravy or yoghurt. My husband is in charge of shoes, inevitably scrubbing off mud and grass daily.

I iron everything on a Sunday, watching some mindless rubbish reality tv. Nothing excites me more than a PD day, when I have ‘extra’ clothes ready to go.

I envy those who can sniff out their child’s uniform and lay it out for another day. I thought once my eldest hit secondary things would change, but no, he takes ‘short cuts’ through muddy fields, dirtying the hems of his trousers and hasn’t mastered the art (and importance) of deodorant usage.

So this bit of guidance doesn’t affect our family.

@Kingsley08 My 14 year old still doesn't remember to use deodorant! To be fair, he's only hit puberty proper during lockdown, but I think I'm going to have to pick up a men's aerosol and reclaim the roll on I left in his bathroom two years ago. Lynx Africa?

How exactly are they going to police that - sniff test every child? How ridiculous.

My friend primary is non uniform so they can see the child has fresh clothes on each day.
However if that was my ds back then he wore jeans a lot. Which if I found a good fit I'd buy 3 pairs same with his chinos and joggers so how would they know.

My pre schooler also has lots of black leggings as they're easy for toilet and light to carry as spares. I think she has 6 pairs. So would look the same but not be the same pair

Same here DidSheReallySayThat20. DS has two similar pairs of khaki cargo shorts, two identical pairs of blue jeans, several similar looking blue, green, and grey t-shirts, and a favourite fleece that I will wash and it's dry in the morning.

Thanks for the reminder - need to do some ironing tonight! I’m not back into the swing of school uniforms this term!

That’s nuts! Is a teacher really going to notice that kids have different clothes on from one day to the next? Plus what if they are wearing the same? Do they get sent home? Honestly some people really have completely taken leave of their senses over all this
Inastatus · 06/09/2020 21:02

@madameblobby - my thoughts exactly! As if the teachers are going to log what each child is wearing from day to day!
To the OP, no I will be washing my kid’s uniforms as usual ie: clean shirt every day but school skirt/trousers changed every few days.

TheClitterati · 06/09/2020 21:03

No

Kljnmw3459 · 06/09/2020 21:05

No I won't be washing their uniforms every day.
