Has anyone else got this bad cold going around?

Full of snot, ears hurt and blocked, sinus pain, sore throat and achy limbs. No temp or cough. I can’t smell anything, but my nose is completely blocked.
My DS had it first and brought it back from nursery, he’s fine now.

Yup. Same here after all weekend with the kids, its starting on me now. My son needs to take a covid test though because he has done nothing but cough to the point it has dominated his cold! I'm hoping its just a bad cold and not covid obviously. Makes me mad I have kept my family safe from my work, for months, yet one week back at school and this happens! Mind you we were told it would be 2-3 days a week and distancing/smaller classes, now none of that happened!

Cafedrama · 02/09/2020 07:09

I think I’m going to have to get a test afterall, I woke this morning with an upper chesty cough. I’m still full of snot so I’m pretty sure it’s related. But I guess it’s the best thing to get a test.

It's just going to happen now. Especially with people who've socially distanced all summer. Their immune systems will be vulnerable.

You don’t all have the same cold people!! I doubt you’re all from the same town!

Mymycherrypie · 02/09/2020 08:09

I haven’t had it but if I did I’d start looking at potential gaps in your Covid protection strategy.

Tootsey11 · 02/09/2020 08:19

Sounds like a typical cold for me. Usually comes along in September when son returns to college.

fleurdeliz · 02/09/2020 08:24

I've got it. Missed first day of work yesterday and got tested - negative.

Cough, fever, achy, headache etc etc. But not Covid.

cannotchange · 02/09/2020 08:28

Yes, had all these symptoms - now going into week 3 of it with terrible cough

DramaLlama12 · 02/09/2020 08:50

@fluerdeliz
I have all those symptoms you're describing I've sent a test off , I'm not convinced it's Covid tho as I had that back in March , it's very different this time
Work don't want be back until my test comes back . They were on the phone yesterday while I lay on the ground shouting to area management' she's got covid , I've got kids , I can't afford to self isolate ' sanitising everything I touched

SummerHouse · 02/09/2020 08:57

Test - if you have a cough
Test - if you have a temp
Test - if you have lost your taste/smell
Test - if you have a soar throat

You cannot assume symptoms are a cold. Anybody with any ONE of these symptoms should test regardless of their role.

Throughabushbackwards · 02/09/2020 09:00

We all had this cold. We went for drive through COVID tests just to be sure, all negative. It seems a relatively nasty cold virus. DSs nursery manager said it's ripped through there.

Cafedrama · 02/09/2020 09:35

I have send off for a test and self isolating, but have any of you had a cough with it?

cologne4711 · 02/09/2020 10:00

Test - if you have a soar throat

Not if you have a sore throat. The other three, yes. If everyone tests for every last symptom we'll run out of tests and the people who really need a test, and quickly, won't get one.

TheKeatingFive · 02/09/2020 10:04

*but have any of you had a cough with it?^

Yes. But a ‘productive’ cough rather than a dry one, which is the symptom associated with Covid.

Emeraldshamrock · 02/09/2020 10:08

@Cafedrama Do you need to do a nose swab with the test.
There is no home testing in Ireland afaik.
I found it very sore up my nose the throat swab was fine, I thought my eyeball was going to pop.

LatinforTelly · 02/09/2020 10:11

@MrsMcMuffins

Yes we have had it and also very upset stomach for days. Anyone else had the upset stomach?
Yep, me. Bad stomach and lack of appetite. If I hadn't had(all the) classic covid symptoms in March, I'd be wondering if this was a mild version. Not a continuous cough this time, just a couple of coughs a day. And snot (sorry), of which there was none in March.
DameHannahRelf · 02/09/2020 10:22

I do. Snotty and sneezing lots, ears hurt, last night it felt like there was a golf ball lodged between my throat, jaw and ear. Sinuses etc in general achey. CTS and acid reflux worse than usual. Assuming I have a head cold. No covid symptoms though, other than the sneezing, no temp, can still taste and smell, etc. Not planning to go anywhere other than work, and walking the dog. I would normally go into work and take all the precautions I do daily now anyway (minus the mask), but now I'm not sure if I should go but wear a mask, or ring in sick.

Bubblemonkey · 02/09/2020 10:28

There’s a virus doing it’s rounds which isn’t rona Shock thought Covid was the only thing in the existence of the world. Hope it passes quickly for you.

HairyToity · 02/09/2020 10:32

I've had a productive cough and sore throat with it. Hate being poorly. Seeing as I struggle with a cold I dread to think what I'd be like with actual Covid.

Cafedrama · 02/09/2020 10:39

Thanks everyone.
I acttskkg think I had Covid in March, but obviously they weren’t testing then. It felt very different to this. I wasn’t snotty or sneezing and my cough was very dry. I couldn’t get a sentence out without coughing, I was also very tired.
This is much more mucousy.

Hmm interesting. I’ve been feeling sub-par since Sunday-ish. Nothing full-on, just vague sense of headache, aches, tiredness, a bit of sneezing and runny nose. Was wondering if the autumn cold season is starting. Coincidentally I saw my nephews late last week for the first time since February and they’d just come back from a holiday in which there were a lot of other young kids ... Hmm

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 02/09/2020 11:01

I've got it - DD very kindly brought it back with her from nursery Hmm I feel pretty crap but it's all snot-based so I'm pretty sure it's not CV19. Plus, I've had no fever and can still taste and smell. I do cough, but it's a very phlegmy affair and pretty infrequent. The snot is properly embedded in my sinuses, as well, so my eye has puffed up on one side. Unimpressed.

It's hideous, though, isn't it? And I'm so paranoid in case I cough and everyone points at me like I'm a witch!

MileyWiley · 02/09/2020 11:02

Yep me and baby had it last week, dd4 and dh seem to have avoided it though.

StellaRockafella · 02/09/2020 11:15

I had what the OP describes over Christmas, New Year and for most of January. It triggered an ear infection and then my eardrum burst. Still suffering with ear issues now and my sense of smell is still below par.
