Full of snot, ears hurt and blocked, sinus pain, sore throat and achy limbs. No temp or cough. I can’t smell anything, but my nose is completely blocked.
My DS had it first and brought it back from nursery, he’s fine now.

I was in more pain than I’ve ever had with my tonsils overnight Saturday into Sunday. Spent Sunday and Monday in bed but now am not bad for daily life (not up to exercise though). For me it was really brutal but seems to be short. I think my immune system was just in shock.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/09/2020 21:33

Yep we’ve got it in this house too, 3 out of 4 of us. Ridiculous how it’s gone around so quickly.

riotlady · 01/09/2020 21:34

Yes! I feel awful

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/09/2020 21:35

Hmmmm.....it does make you wonder how useful all the precautions actually are, if we're all still catching viruses anyway, despite them. Then you get wondering if the COVID tests are coming out negative because it's a new strain of it that doesn't match up with the antigen test (not at all a scientist so no clue on this!! Grin

Or is it just that a lot of our sinus/stomach issues are actually bacterial in origin, when we have assumed for years that they're viral? I know that DS2 had to be taken for a COVID test when he developed a temp and general malaise /ack of appetite/stomach issues after not leaving the house except for walking in the neighbourhood. I have no idea what caused what he had as although DH and I are key workers we both clean up properly as soon as we come home so strugglint to know how he could have picked a viral infection up when DH and I have not had symptoms of anything ourselves. So we think it's probably something bacterial he had.

Sandyjag · 01/09/2020 21:35

Yes my DD has it. Horrid. Did tests and negative. But still glad we tested and would test again. So contagious! But I thankfully just had sore ears so far.

nancybotwinbloom · 01/09/2020 21:46

Yes I have it now it's a bastard of a cold. Also tested negative for Covid

Ellsbells12 · 01/09/2020 21:47

Most colds are rhinoviruses which are far more contagious and prevalent than coronaviruses.

@MrsMcMuffins

Yes we have had it and also very upset stomach for days. Anyone else had the upset stomach?
Yep got one I have a covid test tomorrow to rule out that is the thing no one knows ... winter gonna be a bastard
Danglingmod · 01/09/2020 21:51

I had sinusitis and a few related symptoms when I hadn't left the house in months and nor had any members of my household. So it must have been bacterial.

MrsMcMuffins · 01/09/2020 21:52

@Ellsbells12, I will be interested in your result. We have been floored for ages but don’t have a cough.

Danglingmod · 01/09/2020 21:53

Upset stomach is definitely a Covid symptom, though. Two colleagues in their twenties had it along with a positive test and one of them's GP said they were frustrated that not enough publicity was being given to the other symptoms.

Ellsbells12 · 01/09/2020 21:53

@MrsMcMuffins I have felt worse as time goes on I have turned into a hypochondriac with alll this covid 😬

CeibaTree · 01/09/2020 21:58

We had it at the end of July. I haven't felt that ill from a cold ever - had a sore throat with it, but negative C-19 test.

annabel85 · 01/09/2020 21:59

Another thing to look forward to going back to the office. Being ill all the time.

Pertella · 01/09/2020 22:07

Yeah had it about 10 days ago. The actual cold part only lasted a couple of days (blocked then runny nose) but I've been a bit sinusy and had a mild headache in and off ever since and just feel a bit meh.

Had a test as advised by the zoe app and was negative.

annabel85 · 01/09/2020 22:07

@nancybotwinbloom

Yes I have it now it's a bastard of a cold. Also tested negative for Covid
Is it me or are colds more and more virulent these days? It's never just a runny nose and a few sniffles.
HaveYouSeenMyFriendKimberley · 01/09/2020 22:15

In Scotland and my kid at school seems to have brought home a massive sore throat runny nose combo.

Other pupils HAVE been tested for Covid but no positives and tbh symptoms do not match.

HaveYouSeenMyFriendKimberley · 01/09/2020 22:17

So much testing up here that people have been told nearest available test in northern England! So no it's not all ideal here but it's understandable as schools return.

EachDubh · 01/09/2020 22:51

I've got it, 2 kids been off with it and it is nasty. I worked in the hubs until the summer hols but this is so easy to catch. Almost half dd1 class were off today.

Keepdistance · 01/09/2020 22:54

Some viruses stay on surfaces for a month.
Some are very contagious apparently measles you can get from going in a room after the person left.
Hfm has long incubation and also stays in poop for a long time.

I dont think we will be able to keep testing as they will run out.
We had what might have been covid in apr (1d sore throat then dry cough no snot at all which is unknown for me, dp had a headache and we had exhaustion and loss of appetite, muscle aches , later on i had breathing issues and fast heart rate then later muscle twitches -still)
We hadnt been out since schools shut and that was only for a mot the kids hadnt been in since early march.
Dd2 had had something after feb half term (temp then runny nose then cough but not at once which you needed at the time) and was still coughing into apr.
Dd1 had in apr sore throat then an 8w cough. No temp

Emeraldshamrock · 01/09/2020 22:59

Yes I think I'm developing a chest infection too. I'm feeling paranoid.

Stroller15 · 01/09/2020 23:05

Yes whole house had stuffy noses and sore throats as soon as kids went back to school (in Scotland). My ears are still blocked!

magicstarlove · 01/09/2020 23:07

I caught it from my 4 year old going back of nursery (who only had it for 2 days yet here I am a week in) and I'm 40 weeks pregnant and will be induced on Friday fair fo say I'm feeling very sorry for myself 😂

TheKeatingFive · 01/09/2020 23:12

Yes it’s gross. My toddler brought it back from nursery.

Our immune systems are shot to pieces by this stage. No wonder we’re all getting it.
