Article from oxford professor summarising new data that it's safe for children to be in school. Great pre September reading!

It is a scandal. Not arguing. Has been for a long time though.

Doesn't mean I want large scale job losses in another sector though. This is the lockdown effect sadly.

As with everything this government does though - there were better and fairer ways to do that. But it does highlight that they are prepared to given an open purse to businesses, and yet just heap more expenses on schools. And try to play off the media and parents against teachers and their unions.
Priorities.

How about HMRC puts the squeeze on international companies not paying their fair share of tax? Bloody disgrace how Amazon et al get away with it - all this we follow the rules but not the spirit bollocks.

N’Golo Kante pays more tax than Amazon and Starbucks combined.

WhyNotMe40 · 20/08/2020 23:02

And wasn't there something about Virgin wanting to furlough their staff at taxpayer expense, despite not paying taxes, or something? I forgot to follow up on that - had more immediate worries at the time.

We could have done so much. We had 6 months. We did nothing sadly

The first thing you could have done is stop making up shite on the internet such as
'teachers/people don't want kids to go back to school'

The second would have been to support the measures that teachers wanted to put in place.

I mean its nice that your position seems to have shifted. But to have posted this takes some big old brass balls.

This is proof that the Uk is pretty much a service based industry. Obviously, we all support the jobs but seriously, do I want a cheeseburger and a pint down the local pub or do I want my kids to be adequately (hmmm) educated. Rishi manages to whip out a deal for service but Gavin fails to take care of education. Education is a right not a privilege. We should be bending over backwards and forwards to deliver decent education. They’ve given us millions to eat out but our kids.., they’ll be eating warm ham sandwiches at their desks in poorly ventilated rooms during a pandemic.

@askmehowiknow

I say that as someone who has worn a mask throughout. It significantly impairs communication between adults. Do we honestly know how much it impairs communication for kids? Or do we assume if they don't speak out they're ok?
Sorry if this has been jumped on already, but why is it ok for you to wear masks but not teachers?

And as for teachers taking a lead, that's exactly what we're trying to do in this leadership vacuum. We'll continue to do so until we're ill.

As has been said schools are magic places and the virus is sentient and knows not to go there.

askmehowiknow has been very vocal in berating teachers that have tried to take the lead or made suggestions, normally by saying that they don't want pupils to go back.
