Feeling a bit duped about the seriousness of Covid....

Found out my district of 55,000 people there have been 156 confirmed covid cases since March. Now I hear there is an enquiry into the over reporting of Covid deaths in England. Average death rate has now lower than average indicating many people who died from Covid would probably died in the next month or so. No surge in Covid cases or deaths since relaxing lockdown measures (I know about Leicester, but we all know reasons why they have more cases and again they haven't had a spike in deaths).
In the meantime, the economy is screwed, Kids have been off school for months, best friends business has gone bust.

" after 57 sailors were infected with the coronavirus after 35 days at sea, despite the entire crew testing negative before leaving port."

Were some of them incubating it when they left?
Could it have been on some items that they took on board with them?

Or there were some asymptomatic people on board who falsely tested negative on land, possibly because they had only just been infected. No symptoms at sea so no suspicion of them having it but they have then passed it on to crew mates so the now syptomatic sailors have caught it whilst on board from someone who already had it?

Also, was their initial quarantine supervised? Could some of them have cheated?

if you knew someone that had died I don't think you'd be asking. For most the sacrifice was pretty smalI, my brother lives in a country where they had a really strict lockdown and subsequently eradicated covid, he can't believe how easy we had it in comparison

@CountreeGurl lucky him, I'd happily take a strict lockdown if we could eradicate it.
