Some unpleasantness on here today? True, this is not an app in itself. It is an update to the operating systems to allow a future app for track/trace to work. As for downloading, this was downloaded against my chosen settings which allow nothing automatically. Perhaps others are in a similar position who might feel similarly concerned that the update has been forced. Sets an unwelcome precedent.

If it was downloaded against your chosen settings, that means that you have to approve every firmware update from your phone manufacturer as it is sent to you. That means you must have approved the firmware update for this to be showing on your settings. Eventually, if you decline to update the firmware on your phone every time, many apps you have downloaded will stop functioning as they'll no longer be compatible with your OS.

There's even an entire South Park episode dedicated to reading the fine print when you set up or update your device. But if you decline the terms and conditions IRL, you need to return your phone to the manufacturer, because it will be useless to you. Agreeing to manufacturer's Ts&Cs are less optional than paying taxes.

It wasn't automatically downloaded onto my phone either. However, when I updated to 13.5, it was included as part of that update. Apple etc are not at fault if you don't check what is included in the update🤷‍♀️

well I'm more angry that the update also includes new memoji stickers I will NEVER use and they really should give me the option to pick and choose which parts of the iOS update I want. Evil corporate bastards.

It isn't an app, it is an update to the operating system to support a future app. If you installed the Android update or IOS update then you did approve it. It was part of the update. It isnt their fault people just ok updates without reading what they contain.

Fivefoot. What you on about? It's on my phone and on yours if you check. It's not a conspiracy the Government have been quite open about it. Until you download the app it's not active. I don't believe the app is available yet.

that means your phone supports the app, it doesn't mean you have the app, you would need to download if you wanted to us

It’s on one of our Iphones as it came with the software update. Not on the other that hasn’t had a recent update.
