Not sure how I feel about having this download on my phone without my permission. How about you?

I can’t wait to get this and the app when it comes. I’ll do anything to beat this shitty virus

Jeeperscreepers69 · 21/06/2020 17:58

There's more in life to worry about to be honest.

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 17:58

@Barney60 - I did not down load it

Yes you did. It was in the OS update you downloaded.

and I keep getting messages that storage is full.

This particular feature on its own will not take up sufficient space to cause any problems.

Not sure if I can remove said APP, I do not want it on my phone.

It's not an app but I gave some helpful advice to deandra a few posts ago on how to get rid of it. You might want to follow the same advice.

MummyMayo1988 · 21/06/2020 17:59

It cant really do anything unless your bluetooth is on. It's all anonymous anyway 🤷‍♀️
Dont know why people are getting their knickers in a twist over it. It's for our own protection and piece of mind.
It's up to us to use it or not.

This thread is gold

user1498572889 · 21/06/2020 18:09

It’s on my phone to

dementedpixie · 21/06/2020 18:10

Wow, really????

whenwillthemadnessend · 21/06/2020 18:11

I've got it. Not turned on tho.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 21/06/2020 18:12

Fucking hell, people really are thick, aren’t they? This is one of the most depressing threads I’ve ever read.

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 18:13

@user1498572889 - It’s on my phone to

Have you noticed all the automatic phone calls being made to tell Steve Jobs where you've been? That's the really scary thing. The calls are long distance and will cost me a fortune.

WhatCFeryIsThis · 21/06/2020 18:22

So, just to make sure I've got everything 100% correct:

This feature definitely is NOT an API, it's an app that downloaded itself to my phone while I was distracted making toast this morning.

The app (because it definitely is an app) got into my phone via water droplets, as that is how it is carried.

I can delete this app, and I can contact Apple/Samsung/HTC/Blackberry for compensation.

But if I keep the app then I will be immune to Covid.

Have I got that right?

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 18:25

The app (because it definitely is an app) got into my phone via water droplets, as that is how it is carried.

Don't be silly. It's airborne. Water would damage your phone.

WhatCFeryIsThis · 21/06/2020 18:26

Oh piss sakes @OchonAgusOchonO there I go again exposing my ignorance 🤦‍♀️

midnightstar66 · 21/06/2020 18:32

@OchonAgusOchonO oh I know. Just wondering if they are equally concerned when there is an adjustment/update to their weather app, maps or calculator - or if anyone usually actually reads every last detail of each update before manually installing but just forgot this time so missed this? This thread is amusing though 😆

Elsie1966 · 21/06/2020 18:32

Yep just checked mine and dh phones and it's there Shock

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 18:34

@WhatCFeryIsThis - there I go again exposing my ignorance

Yes. You really need to be careful with your scaremongering. People might be afraid to go out in the rain if you spread that sort of misinformation. It's only dangerous to go out on dry days.

torydeathdrug · 21/06/2020 18:35

it's the thread that just keeps on giving Grin Grin Grin

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 18:41

@ Elsie1966 - Yep just checked mine and dh phones and it's there shock

OMG. Get on to your GP immediately and ask them to refer you for counselling. It's very stressful knowing your phone is regularly calling Steve Jobs to tell him what you're up to.

rainbowunicorn · 21/06/2020 18:42

@Elsie1966 is it really fancy that. What is it you think IT is ?

Harls1969 · 21/06/2020 18:43

Pretty sure there's lots of things on our phones that we haven't specifically downloaded. I don't understand all the excitement over this. It's not a tracker and, as Google knows where I am at any time anyway it wouldn't matter if it was

WhatCFeryIsThis · 21/06/2020 18:58

@Harls1969 but what if, like many other people, you're illegally dealing Covid? Surely you wouldn't want these things tracking your every move? You'd get caught!

SoupDragon · 21/06/2020 19:03

Not if you wrap your phone in tin foil.

Ratbum · 21/06/2020 19:08

Some unpleasantness on here today?
True, this is not an app in itself. It is an update to the operating systems to allow a future app for track/trace to work.
As for downloading, this was downloaded against my chosen settings which allow nothing automatically. Perhaps others are in a similar position who might feel similarly concerned that the update has been forced. Sets an unwelcome precedent.

It's fine, I keep it, and my phone, in my prison purse. Nobody will find it there 😉😂

SoupDragon · 21/06/2020 19:13

Sets an unwelcome precedent.

Do you think that about all the other things that are on an update and that you agree to? The precedent was set many years ago with the very first update.
