Not sure how I feel about having this download on my phone without my permission. How about you?

Be aware, this is only the beginning ..

LonginesPrime · 21/06/2020 00:41

From @Tdaadfb100's article:

Users who acquire enough points can redeem them for gifts or discounts

Ah, they missed a trick - if they really wanted to motivate people, they should tie the points to people's credit scores like in Black Mirror. Who's going to go over and above for some bloody bath salts?

CrowCat · 21/06/2020 01:03

Yep it's on mine and location has been set to on when I always keep it off.

Seen this 'warning' on fb loads and my response is no different to all the other scaremongering posts and hoax worries- why not google first? If you google you'll see the explanation that something is a) a hoax (not in this case) or b) scaremongering of something innocuous (covid software update).

The amount of times i see warnings of watsapp downloads that will 'cost me thousands' from some people who usually have great common sense. A ten second google would reveal the truth yet this scaremongering instead is perpetuated.

Casino218 · 21/06/2020 05:40

I think it got downloaded with the new update but I haven't let my phone update.

SaskiaRembrandt · 21/06/2020 07:27

@Tdaadfb100

Did anyone’s phones actually start playing up?
Neither of mine did.
iVampire · 21/06/2020 08:20

I’d read there were some minor issues with 13.5, but they were fixed with 13.5.1

Though of course ‘minor issue’ in tech speak is still one hell of an annoyance if you’ve got it.

Ifihadapoundd · 21/06/2020 08:56

It was in the small print of the last update. So when you agreed to the update you argued for it to be added.

Poetryinaction · 21/06/2020 09:50

It's on mine. It tells me how to uninstall but I can't find it listed in my apps. I will keep bluetooth and location off.

dementedpixie · 21/06/2020 09:55

you can't uninstall what you havent installed yet (the app you can uninstall doesn't even exist yet)

Poetryinaction · 21/06/2020 09:59

Ok, read a little. Thanks. I hate apps.of any kind. I don't trust any of them! I wish the workd wasn't geared towards smartphones. I can't wait till I can go to work instead of working remotely, and my kids are back in school. I will be disconnecting from everything.

Poetryinaction · 21/06/2020 09:59

Excuse typos.

OchonAgusOchonO · 21/06/2020 10:03

@iVampire - I’d read there were some minor issues with 13.5, but they were fixed with 13.5.1

It was included in 13.5, not 13.5.1, so obviously wouldn't be mentioned in the release notes for 13.5.1

Geekygeek · 21/06/2020 10:07

It’s an option For when/if you install a government tracking app. You’ll be waiting a while for that in the uk.

Geekygeek · 21/06/2020 10:09

Very much in the release notes and well documented.

developer.apple.com/documentation/exposurenotification

AdoreTheBeach · 21/06/2020 10:18

As previous poster pointed out, it’s on your phone already. It’s not been downloaded Surreptitiously by the government.

Because I take lots of photos and because I use banking app, payments apps and have lots of social media accounts for my Jen by fives, I was looking into what us in my phone to delete unused things LAST SUMMER and thus “health” was already there

It’s nothing to do with covid 19 and nothing to do with the government.

GoldenOmber · 21/06/2020 10:37

@Poetryinaction

It's on mine. It tells me how to uninstall but I can't find it listed in my apps. I will keep bluetooth and location off.
It isn’t an app. You can’t uninstall it because it hasn’t been installed. It is a part of your phone’s system that means you can make contact tracing apps work in the future, IF there is one to download (there isn’t here now) and IF you choose to download it. Even then it won’t use location services.
Howaboutanewname · 21/06/2020 10:40

I updated yesterday but it isn’t on mine!

TimeWastingButFun · 21/06/2020 10:42

Not on my iPhone but it won't update as the storage is full.

midsomermurderess · 21/06/2020 10:53

Bloody hell, can you people not read?

bubbleup · 21/06/2020 10:57

"I'm wondering if we will be allowed to delete the app after we've downloaded it"

Bloody hell, this thread really is the new 'cancel the cheque' isn't it!!!!!!
