I’m worried I won’t have a job to go back to. I think I will be made redundant in August. Anyone else worried?

Exactly @LaurieMarlow.

I sometimes wonder if people who say things like that are in some kind of bubble. Maybe on some kind of final salary pension, with family money for example. Not a clue how most of the world lives month to month.

I'm back on part furlough, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. They definitely need me on the 2 weeks I'm there so I'm a bit more hopeful now that I'll escape the big R. And I'm enjoying the 2 weeks off every month, even if my customers and colleagues aren't. Not my decision so not gonna feel guilty.

I had my redundancy confirmed last Thursday. Quiet relived to be honest as consultation has been very stressful. I have applied for well over 50 jobs not heard back from most, one offer but couldn't wait for me (redundancy restrictions on new start) and 2 interviews but didn't go any further. Tough job market but gotta keep positive.

@LaurieMarlow

There will be some economic challenges

Jesus. 🤯

Presumably spoken by someone not facing them. Public sector? Pensioner?

It’s going to be fucking brutal. Poverty that we haven’t seen the like of for decades.

So many children’s lives will be devastated by this.

I get your frustration at an apparent lack of empathy. But why single out those groups and in such a resentful way.

Those pensioners will have experienced mass unemployment in the 80’s when they wasn’t the level of benefits or understanding that we have today.

Those people in the public sector know what it like to live with cuts.

The worse thing that can happen is for anger to fester into blame and hatred of other people.

All your personal stories make bleak and worrying reading.
I have not been furloughed, however it is only realistic to be very aware it could be a possibility for anyone these days.
So many people will be going after the same job, I am sure I read that one industry had 15,000 applications for 10 jobs.
