If schools aren’t back to normal September and you are back to work what are you planning to do? Also do you think the key worker provision will stay for September or do you think it will only available to the summer holidays?

I think the reality is that, as far as governments are concerned, it's helpful for everyone (except the mothers themselves) if mothers are "managed out" of the workforce en masse.

Because we are facing a deep recession, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs, and if its mothers losing their job, many will not officially show up in the unemployment figures due to giving up and deciding to become SAHMs.

Also, unlike many men, women facing the despair of long-term unemployment don't usually riot and vandalize stuff and cause trouble---they just internalize it all and become depressed.

Incredibly depressing.

The law firm I worked for for years had a policy against flexible working or wfh. All applications [for flexible working] were from women lawyers and were all turned down.

Despite most of the lawyers at the firm being women they paid the basic maternity and made it as difficult as possible. I saw confidential internal emails between equity partners basically saying this. Men paid more etc too.

If a man asked for an hour off to look after a child they were lauded.

We were always always told that wfh cannot be done at a law firm.

Funny to see them all over LinkedIn now making big statements about how although they're now all working remotely they're still a full service law firm 24/7 and bigger and better etc.

Just shows the position they adopted before was BS anti-women

I'm in-house now and I instruct my old firm frequently I want to call them out on LinkedIn
