Why aren't there angry posts about Tim Matthews admitting he made up Dominic Cummings sighting?

Tim Matthews has admitted he made up a sighting of Dominic Cummings at Barnard Castle for a joke. It wasn't a very funny joke. I haven't heard anyone laughing about and why has it taken until now to admit it was a lie?

Because they’re condemning Cummings on what he said himself?

The Mail are clearly running a campaign to discredit all the Cummings witnesses which makes me suspicious of the accuracy of their reporting.

You obviously haven't read the article, it not Tim Matthews who its claimed "made it up" and the claim he broke the rules is also false.

A. I don't believe a word that is printed in the Daily Mail.

B. I don't care what any witnesses say. My anger is based purely on what Dominic Cummings admitted to in his own statement.

Maybe because Tim Matthews isn’t advisor time the prime minister. The level of power someone like Cummings has, and the fact he is working for the government who are putting the lockdown rules in place, does make him breaking/bending (whatever your perception) the rules more controversial.

Also that’s just one element of quite a long rambling story about Cummings movements. It’s not like the whole situation was made up.

But Cummings said he was there in the rose garden statement. Are you saying I should be outraged in someone “lying” about seeing Cummings somewhere Cummings agrees he was and agrees he did interact with the witness!! It’s pretty hard to be outraged when even the guy who is being accused admits he did it!

Well someone saw him and Cummings admitted it anyway.

Basically it is/was a witch hunt.

Will any poster who swallowed it all whole have a rethink?

Not a wholesale change of opinion about DC but a re think on how much internalise take such media hype.

But Cummings has admitted he was there! So whether someone did or did not doctor a running app to put him at Barnard Castle to see him is a moot point surely!

So DC was at Barney, but he was wearing his invisibility cloak so no one saw him, so that's alright, then?

He made up the story about Cummings being there a second time a week later, which Cummings always denied, not the Barnard Castle trip.

DC said that anyone saying he had returned to Durham was lying. When he returned to London he stayed there.

Posters here were quote gleeful, saying it didn't matter what DC said, what gps style proof he had, why would a stranger lie?

Well the stranger did lie. He deliberately doctored timestamps etc... for a joke!

Not hard to see that some of the furore was made up, hyped, used. Aimed at us, the general public.

Why is it that some who are so good at seeing where BJ throws up a smokescreen are so blind when the smokescreen comes from elsewhere?

CuriousaboutSamphire - the press behaved the way it always behaves, it didn’t particularly pick on Cummins, it’s equally vile to everyone. Likewise, there are always crackpots who make up false claims at times like this - makes fuck all difference to the obvious truth of the central allegations.

Cummins hanged himself, he didn’t actually need any help to do it. It’s his actual behaviour and statements people are angry about, not the usual crackpots who jump on the bandwagon to get attention.

He admitted being at Barnard Castle. He should have been sacked.

Yes, he firmed saying he saw him there on a second trip, ievthst aftercreturning to London, recent back. It wasn't true . This is why we needed to wait for the facts before the Rose Garden interview as quite often people say they have seen people when they havent. It happens a lot in missing persons cases too. There are always "sightings" that turn out to be bogus.

I'm no Cummings fan at all. But i'll just mention here that what has also been spread on SM including MN is that his sister is the director of the track and trace app.

Which is absolutely false and i'm mentioning it because a poor woman who's never even met DC, and the company she works for have been harassed.
