Why is lockdown being eased when the alert level hasn’t changed?

Just seen that the CV alert level hasn’t been reduced from 4 to 3 yet the government are easing lockdown measures imminently. At level 4, the virus is widespread and risk is high and restrictions must be in place. Why then has the government been allowed to ease measures when there is still a clear, identifiable risk to our health?

In any period of economic decline, the poor get poorer. Just look at the USA and us post shipbuilding, mining, steel making etc. We have an economy built on services and lots of people not earning very much despite record numbers going to university. Covid is destroying plenty of businesses and people working in them will be unemployed if demand doesn’t pick up quickly. All firms are making redundancy plans where they cannot pay for staff to do nothing.

Therefore, I believe unemployment will go up a lot as firms evaluate future orders, work instructions, etc, as we come off the furlough scheme.

Yes, we will have the begging bowl out to our preferred trading partners outside the EU. Whether they will be remotely interested is a moot point. No American President is likely to care about us when their unemployment is 15% and rising.
