You can read the article here on someone's twitter account.

My local MP, Andrew Griffith, is deleting his supportive tweets of DC. Not because he’s has a change of heart but because he doesn’t want to acknowledge how his constituents are feeling.

The replies to his deleted tweets were not supportive of DC.

I have more of an issue with Johnson than Cummings. Cummings isn't our representative; we haven't voted for him. He works for Johnson.

If the PM had stood up on Sunday night and said that Cummings had broken the rules, it was totally unacceptable and he had been given a warning but he was not being sacked I might have had some respect for him. We could then have moved on to the bigger issue, getting the country back up and running.

Instead he said that Cummings hadn't broken any rules, had acted with integrity. Disgraceful.

The Cummings press conference yesterday was a charade and embarrasses us all in front of the world. His boss should have had the balls to deal with himself.

I've just emailed my MP. She's a conservative.

I'm so angry that we only have the ballot box

Let's (Truth) Twist Again (3) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3918880-let-s-truth-twist-again-3#96875958

Alice Cummings of Idox (track and trace app company) seems v unlikely to be Dominic's sister!

DoveOfPiss · 26/05/2020 11:08

@MrsFezziwig that looks like an MRSA swab diagram.
I'm not saying that isn't how people are being instructed to do it, but in my NHS COVID swab training last week, we were all told and shown how to swab to the nasopharyngeal cavity and to the back of the throat. Complete with diagrams and practicing on a dummy.

It's also how my local NHS drive-thru testing centre test people.

Anyway I expect it's a moot point now.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 11:10

Alice Cummings of Idox (track and trace app company) seems v unlikely to be Dominic's sister!

She isn’t. Cummings’ sister is Francesca McDonald Cummings (her ex husband is a Herriot).

whatnametopick · 26/05/2020 11:11

Imagine if Cummings reason for being at Barnard Castle was an alibi for a serious crime?
" I was driving a 60 mile round trip with my family to test my eyesight"
It would be laughed out of court!

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 11:11

And Idox isn’t the track and trace app - that’s being developed by Faculty.

PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 11:45

... amd Faculty is linked to Vote Leave and Cummings.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 11:54

Oh yes, hence my Byline Times link.

I wonder how many furious emails are currently piling into Alice Cummings’ inbox.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 11:57

Look what my MP, who thinks D.C. was absolutely right has sent through my front door.

I may edit it to add the caveats, send it back to her and ask her to send the actual guide ace as we should interpret it out!

Roussette · 26/05/2020 12:04

She's got a nerve, hasn't she??

There are calls for her to resign as she should not have tweeted her support for DC because she is the Attorney General and now cannot do her job if there were a police enquiry.

I do sometimes wonder if some of our MPs and others have any common sense at all. Why would she not realise she should not do that in her position?
She advises Boris on any legal matters. How can she do that if she is biaised?

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:08

I've already emailed her to say she should reconsider her support or her job is untenable. She hasn't replied Angry

MrsFezziwig · 26/05/2020 12:08

@DoveOfPiss I’ve actually got quite interested in this! (sad I know) and it seems that research has been done in the US as with self-testing people were just not able reliably to put the swab to the back of the nasopharyngeal cavity. They therefore compared tests where the nose swabbing just put the swab about 1” into the nose and those tests (obviously combined with the throat swab) were no less accurate, so guidance was updated so if self-testing people can just do the simpler test. As a clinician you have obviously been trained to do the full test but that’s not the one that people have been asked to do when self-testing.
I’m mainly been concerned that people are being put off having the test either because they think it will be painful or they think they won’t be able to do it properly, hence my interest.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:09

Exactly. 14,000 people fined for breaking rules. None of them were allowed to interpret them. Then she publicly supports the senior advisor in cabinet for interpreting them.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 12:24

This is interesting

This is a c and p from a newspaper article

Mr Cummings declined to apologise for his actions but conceded "reasonable people may well disagree about how I thought about what to do in the circumstances".

so if you agree with him you are in fact - unreasonable Grin

whatnametopick · 26/05/2020 12:36

So are we now "following instinct" and not "the science"

quiteathome · 26/05/2020 12:38

On the press conference DC mentioned that he had warned of Corona Virus etc.

Did he make any written reports?

All I can find is that he updated a blog in April/May of this year. (I have not had time to look further than Twitter today though)

whatnametopick · 26/05/2020 12:39

@MrsFezziwig me and DH done the home test on Sunday, I was OK but when dh sticks his tongue out and opens his mouth you can't see his throat, tried to hold his tongue down with a spoon but he was going to vomit so only done the nasal swab.

quiteathome · 26/05/2020 12:40

I would quite like to see any reports that were made. You know out of interest. And that is one hell of a lie, when you look at the response to the virus.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 12:46

On the press conference DC mentioned that he had warned of Corona Virus etc.

DC had blogged about the potential of a pandemic (as had plenty of other people).

He then amended that blog on his return to London in April to specifically refer to a SARS coronavirus pandemic.

So it seems he's only a superforecaster when he has the benfit of hindsight.

PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 12:47

Oh, Suella Braverman, no surprises there.

Let's not forget this is the same Attorney General who thinks that "elected decision-makers” need to “take back control” from “unelected, unaccountable judges”.

Honesty and integrity buried a long time ago.
