My mother, in her 70s and a raging Tory, is waiting for the next election to vote against them for the first time in her life.

I think if we remind people and if DC stays this may prove useful to Labour in the long run

Good point Noeuf, if they keep him then the next election will all be, "Vote for a Conservative get Cummings."

GrimmsFairytales · 26/05/2020 08:31

"Vote for a Conservative get Cummings."

That's the shittiest 2 for 1 deal ever. Grin

1forsorrow · 26/05/2020 08:34

One thing has made me quite jealous. Andrew Bridgen's wife must have such an easy time surprising him if he thought that information was going to be a big surprise.

SouthWestmom · 26/05/2020 08:36

And once Boris is stabbed in the back we need to remember what his successor did right now.

GrimmsFairytales · 26/05/2020 08:39

1forsorrow Indeed, where was this big surprise. DC statement was basically, I have a 4 year old, so it was exceptional circumstances, and quoting guidance that didn't actually exist.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 08:46

Cummings also said the guidance he relied on (and read out from his pre-prepared statement) for his “small child exemption” is on the NHS website.

It isn’t - it’s on the gov.uk website.

You’d think he’d know where to find the lynchpin of his entirely fabricated argument, wouldn’t you?

peridito · 26/05/2020 08:46

Has anyone a link to Cummings' wife's article ?

GrimmsFairytales · 26/05/2020 08:50

To be fair it was a long script, and even the best actors sometimes muddle their lines. Wink

SouthWestmom · 26/05/2020 08:51

It's not even small child it's children.

I have had to stop listening to the radio. They have repeatedly said that their mail box is full of people staying they are angry but still insist on balance. So always find two "members of the public" with opposite views. If the majority are angry then the calls should reflect that, not a "balanced view".

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 08:58

Don’t know if this link will let you in behind the paywall, but this is the Wakefield drarmarama:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.spectator.co.uk/article/getting-coronavirus-does-not-bring-clarity/amp

CricketCrocket · 26/05/2020 09:24

Sabrina are the comments under the DC articles on there supportive? I can’t read them as I’m not a subscriber.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 09:29

I’m not a subscriber either - do they have comments on Spectator articles?

CricketCrocket · 26/05/2020 09:32

The article you linked to didn’t but others do.

Douglas Ross has resigned (Moray)

OP posts:
EdithWeston · 26/05/2020 09:32

What date is the Wakefield article?

A lovely friend gave me some back copies of the Spectator and I've not read all of them yet.

I might like to gasp and stretch my eyes over elevenses, if I have the right one in the pile

buttersidedown · 26/05/2020 09:34

Mary’s article doesn’t make any reference to that other well-known symptom; loss of sight. Which can only be cured by test-driving on a public road with your wife and child in the car.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 09:35

Must be subscriber only, as I get that same article but without comments via Google.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 09:37

@EdithWeston It’s the 25th April edition.

1forsorrow · 26/05/2020 09:41

Douglas Ross, a conservative MP with integrity. He should be applauded, I hope his constituents appreciate what he's done.

SouthWestmom · 26/05/2020 09:44

I guess we find out if the circling of wagons has worked or if a steady drip will continue

Before I catch up I have to say every time the thread title pops up it makes me laugh Grin

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 09:52

I don't think Cummings has ever said he didn't have it or symptoms?

We need a parody written to the song The Ibiza bus is coming.

Starting with

"The conservatives are Cumming"

CricketCrocket · 26/05/2020 09:53

I’d like to know what Chris Whitty’s take on all this is. I really hope he walked out of DS yesterday because he disagreed with DC and BoJo.
