Some people are getting really carried away with inaccuracies.
I also find the GSK thing a very far fetched conspiracy theory.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 00:07

Also found the archived version of the Gov.uk guidance on Stay At Home that was current on 27th March:

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20200327085113/www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection#if-you-are-living-with-children" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20200327085113/www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection#if-you-are-living-with-children

It says if someone in the household starts to display symptoms you can move vulnerable people such as the elderly or those with underlying conditions to friends or family (note - this did not include children in the vulnerable classification).

It doesn’t say you can take your symptomatic wife and your child 250 miles away to a second home.

SabrinaThwaite · 26/05/2020 00:18

Oh and Cummings’ claims during his little piece of theatre this afternoon that he had written last year about the likelihood of a SARS coronavirus pandemic?

More lies.

He amended his blog in April and May to include specific references to SARS coronavirus.

He really is a pathological liar.

The science has left the building (4)
Inkpaperstars · 26/05/2020 00:35

That blog edit is embarassing. Next they'll be telling us we won't be getting an extra £350m a week for the NHS after all!

JudyCoolibar · 26/05/2020 00:36

He needs to think seriously about whether he really wants us to believe that he warned about the likelihood of a pandemic a year ago. That assertion is liable to give rise to one or two questions like, how the hell were the government so unprepared with PPE? And how have they managed to get themselves into a situation where we've had more covid deaths than any other country except the US?

DoveOfPiss · 26/05/2020 02:05

Blimey just caught up with the threads after being so incensed yesterday that I wrote to my MP and then after reading thread 2, wrote again to the Chair Graham Brady and the speaker.

What a total shit show. I'm still fuming.

Also, has anyone tried to administer a COVID test to any child, let alone one with ASD? It's horrible. The throat swab makes adults gag and children vomit and the nose swab goes all the way to the naso-pharyngeal cavity which is almost level with where your jaw hinges, towards your ears. It's an eye waterer and it bloody hurts too.

Now he's saying his son was tested but his wife wasn't? Why would they test the child and not the mother? Ah maybe they assumed if she was symptomatic she wouldn't have been there in the first place?

And the test was negative? So, as a PP said, no need to travel.

So many lies....

MrsFezziwig · 26/05/2020 02:55

Repeating diagram and instructions for self nasal swabbing for Covid-19 in the UK. Includes the statements “place just inside the nostril” and “you do not have to push far into your nostril”. Not to the back of the nasopharyngeal cavity.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 06:02

They've made it 10 times worse.

He should have said he travelled because he believed it was the rules. In hindsight he can see why people didn't feel he stick to the spirit of them.

Instead they wrote a whole story to match the facts they knew they could no longer deny.

And we got stupid things like "found ourselves at the edge if Barnard castle". Really? He knows Durham well he knew where he was going.

The devil really is in the detail Wink

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 06:04

That Guatdian report is very interesting. I especially like the bit about I was actually hoping he would find a credible way out of it.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 06:10

He was clever though and we saw a bit of the weasel he's claimed to be basically saying it's not his place to resign. It's the PMs place to decide if he goes. Knowing full well Bozo can't think without him.

Humphriescushion · 26/05/2020 06:19

That smirk at the end of the video! And just watching bbc - coronavirus hotspots linked to chelthennam and the football match! This government has a lot to answer for!

janet1267 · 26/05/2020 06:46

At the end of the day he's just an employee of the government. An advisor. The people who are accountable are the people who choose to take his advice - Johnson and his Cabinet. They're the ones we should be focusing on.

Roussette · 26/05/2020 07:00

This is an interesting article about DC.

news.sky.com/story/dominic-cummings-has-the-master-of-messaging-misread-the-public-11994652

Especially this bit...
'Dominic Cummings has a firm belief that he is more in tune with people's thinking than most politicians, journalists and columnists.

So here comes the gamble, which many will see as characteristically maverick of both him and his prime minister.

Are people outside the bubble thinking he was just a father doing the best for his son?

Or is he now, as he would hate to see himself, part of the establishment, one of those experts you can't trust, out of touch with the people?'

Humphriescushion · 26/05/2020 07:17

"Promote a sense of collectivism: All messaging should reinforce a sense of community, that “we are all in this together.” This will avoid increasing tensions between different groups (including between responding agencies and the public); promote social norms around behaviours; and lead to self-policing within communities around important behaviours."

Taken from sage publications, that went out the window then.!

PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 07:18

The emperor is naked. Johnson can't think for himself and he was very agitated yesterday the truth has come out. He can't get Brexit done without Cummings and he's desperate (not that Brexit with Cummings is a good idea, but that's what BJ thinks).

Cummings knows far too much to be sacked. I suspect this all relates to the data gathered by Vote Leave and how they've (mis?)used them as part of their marketing campaigns. If you remember, not long ago there was a scandal that Cummings refused to provide evidence to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee about the unlawful coordination of EU referendum campaigns, campaign spending, and misuse of people’s personal data:
www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/digital-culture-media-and-sport-committee/news/cummings-special-report-published-17-19/

Moreover, the Report on Russian interference has never been published by BJ and both Labour and some Conservatives were highly critical of it late last year. No response was provided as to the level of vetting Cummings had to complete before working with the PM. Downing Street refused to answer.

If this man or his acquaintances have anything to do with the tracing app, I will certainly never download it. If you read/watched anything in relation to Cambridge Analytica, you'll see how this is the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Transparency of a dirty pint.

Roussette · 26/05/2020 07:18

I have read his wife's account in full now. I am even more cross. No mention of 250 mile trips. In fact it insinuates the family did not move anywhere apart from to the bathroom. And then this bit...

"After the uncertainty of the bug itself, we emerged from quarantine into the almost comical uncertainty of London lockdown'.

Dominic Cummings and his wife are treating us like fools

Everytimeref · 26/05/2020 07:31

@purplePansy05.

The app is being designed by DC mates company, it was awarded without tender along side another 6 government contracts. DC claims not to be part of the "elite", and that he has the ear of the public..... Now where have I heard that before..... Think some guy in the USA spouts the same.

PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 07:37

@Everytimeref That would explain why the government refused to use much better adapted and functional apps developed by Google and Apple. None of which would be privacy-concerns free, but considering who they've gone with, privacy concerns my a*.

Roussette · 26/05/2020 07:38

Michael Gove on BBC now saying he only knew that DC was in Durham when the news broke on Friday.
I do not believe that.
DC is the architect of the message to the public about COVID and Michael Gove didn't notice he wasn't around?

PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 07:41

Gove is his former boss who covered up his bullying tactics until Cummings lost the case in the Employment Tribunal and had to pay up. Of course he'll continue to cover up his "misdemeanours".

GrimmsFairytales · 26/05/2020 07:45

Dominic Cummings and his wife are treating us like fools

I agree. His wife writes an article about the family suffering from coronavirus which DC now claims they didn't even have yet no mention of their journey to Durham. And perhaps more importantly she never once mentioned her son being so ill that an ambulance had to take him to hospital.

Oh wait could that perhaps be because the hospital was over 260 miles away. Hmm

Fortyfifty · 26/05/2020 07:47

Schrodingers

Yes, yes to the gaslighting and naricissm. That whole paragraph you wrote should be in a newspaper column. Excellent. Just how I feel.

SouthWestmom · 26/05/2020 07:53

Rousette I'm too cross to watch. It makes me sick. The level of impotence that I feel balanced against that is really upsetting.

Cummings is definitely not one of us. I might not be an elite but I know nobody who would turn up to meet their boss in a crisis in joggers and a t shirt.

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 26/05/2020 08:06

I agree, his whole untidy appearance, lack of punctuality, "I don't care" comments, refusal to apologise and resign and lies designed at insulting our intelligence show that he really doesn't care about anyone's views and has no respect whatsoever. If this was an individual you know in real life, you'd not want to deal with them ever again. If you were his boss and you had integrity, he'd be long gone.

Meanwhile, welcome to the 2020 UK - this man is a PM's chief advisor who will continue in his job and be rewarded for what he's done. Dystopian.

Roussette · 26/05/2020 08:12

I've had to turn over to Sky News, Michael Gove did it for me.

Although he's coming on Sky soon, but he won't get an easy ride from Kay Burley
