Just listening to the briefing. So pretty much all back to normal on the 15th apart from education? Does he really think people are going to docilely distance still??

KaleJuicer I agree with you

bigchris · 25/05/2020 20:06

@Emmajanekylaissabelle you poor thing Flowers

nuttymomma · 25/05/2020 20:07

And what does "covid secure" mean?

What it means is that businesses will interpret it their own way eg our staff wash their hands (we hope) so we are covid secure, yay!

Just like the "work from home if you can" leading to loads of employers lying and saying your job can't be done from home.

Its all totally vague!

vanillandhoney · 25/05/2020 20:07

There are going to be loads of problem with this, though.

It's all very well saying "Shops to open on the 15th" but if there's no childcare or school, how are parents meant to go to work?

Bathroom12345 · 25/05/2020 20:07

Kale. I agree too. Both my parents are nearly 90 with a number of health issues. I don’t understand people who say they have had a green light. What green light?

I won’t be seeing my parents for a while yet.

MarieQueenofScots · 25/05/2020 20:09

I don’t understand people who say they have had a green light. What green light?

Well the fact that DC can see his parents with no comeback. All I need to do is say “childcare”.

But then my parents aren’t old/vulnerable etc

user1497207191 · 25/05/2020 20:10

Funnily enough, no. Still not able to have contact with my mum. Still shielded.

The virus is still out there. Your Mum is shielding for her own protection - it's not a punishment! She'll be shielding until (a) there's a vaccine, (b) there's a treatment or (c) the virus mutates into something less deadly.

It's HER choice whether she continues to be shielded - she can go out if SHE wants to. You can go and see her if SHE wants you to, but it's HER risk to take.

MarshaBradyo · 25/05/2020 20:11

Marie how old are your parents?

I wouldn’t see mine if I could (they are o/s) because I really wouldn’t them to get it.

MarieQueenofScots · 25/05/2020 20:12

Marsha

Early 60s.

There is zero risk of us passing it to each other so I’m happy with the risk assessment.

Bathroom12345 · 25/05/2020 20:14

What DC did it nothing to do with what you choose to do, but no one has given you a green light. There will be no one to blame if some thing happens.

Btw I agree it’s a risk assessment that YOU need to make. Nothing to do with anything anyone else has or hasn’t done.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/05/2020 20:14

Apparently you can say, "I have a chiillldd," on repeat and you can use it like a get out of jail free card.

Bathroom12345 · 25/05/2020 20:15

Zero risk is a very foolish thing to say. Very low risk perhaps but not zero.

walker1891 · 25/05/2020 20:16

Education is meant to be back to normal by the 15th. All primary is due back in full time for a month in his plan. Just secondary not back by then.

feelingverylazytoday · 25/05/2020 20:17

I was hoping it would be sooner. My son works in retail and thought he was going back on the 1st.
Like a PP, I can't wait to go to Primark. I hate shopping online and can't wait to go in shops again.

Xenia · 25/05/2020 20:18

Not really - in fact the bigger risk taker was leg over Ferguson who thought letting his married lover come round for sex was a good idea.

Shops with lots of workers with children not in school might want to consider setting up some kind of childcare help although if many workers don't have children they may not be bothered.

Bathroom12345 · 25/05/2020 20:18

Could secondary age look after themselves?

Yellowbutterfly1 · 25/05/2020 20:18

But you can’t go to the dentist

MarieQueenofScots · 25/05/2020 20:19

Zero risk is a very foolish thing to say. Very low risk perhaps but not zero

None of us have been anywhere since prior to lockdown. The last time I was in any sort of public environment was 21st Feb, last time my daughter went anywhere was 20th March. We couldn’t be any more sure we don’t have it. The only thing coming in is online shopping which all immediately gets washed.

If you’re saying we could be carrying Covid for 13 weeks then a whole lot of people are likely to discover they’re fucked!

lancslass17 · 25/05/2020 20:20

So if i can go to the shops,
When do we think nature reserves, national parks and zoos etc will be open?

MarieQueenofScots · 25/05/2020 20:20

but no one has given you a green light

How much more of a green light does there need to be given what you now can do in the name of childcare.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/05/2020 20:22

Education is meant to be back to normal by the 15th

Ha!

glitterfarts · 25/05/2020 20:22

I'm glad, my DC have outgrown their shoes and DD1 has 0 clothes that fit due to a growth spurt.
Tall and skinny with long legs so tricky to find clothes that fit at the best of times.

Pacmanitee · 25/05/2020 20:23

Are you shielding if you haven't left the house this whole time @MarieQueenofScots?

CountessFrog · 25/05/2020 20:23

Shopping is going to be horrible though, isn’t it? Queues outside, etc. I’ve had enough of that.

DameLucy · 25/05/2020 20:23

He’ll announce meeting up with family etc later in the week. Shops etc need notice to organise themselves. We’ll need no notice to meet up with our families. I’ve never met my 8 week old grandson. I don’t need notice. I’ll be there within the hour!
