Just listening to the briefing. So pretty much all back to normal on the 15th apart from education? Does he really think people are going to docilely distance still??

OP posts:
Thescrewinthetuna · 25/05/2020 19:38

Because ££

ThunderR0ad78 · 25/05/2020 19:38

I assume retail doesn't include hairdressers, nail bars, beauticians etc??

WrongKindOfFace · 25/05/2020 19:39

So you're still not supposed to see more than 1 person from outside your household, outside, but you can wander round a large shopping centreconfused

But you can meet your entire family in a shopping centre. Fucking stupid.

BrieAndChilli · 25/05/2020 19:39

How are parents going to go to work when they have children still at home as schools aren’t open for them?
Some not nice companies will turn around and say x will come in as they have no children so I’m giving them all your hours. In the zero hour culture there’s no security and parents of primary or younger age children rely on school and other childcare in order to work. If schools don’t go back there is no holiday clubs or childcare in place of that.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2020 19:40

It’s wonderful news for people that work in those shops.
I don’t really fancy going though. Sad

tappitytaptap · 25/05/2020 19:41

@Onceuponatimethen we combined households at the start of the lockdown with my parents for childcare reasons. They specifically said in one of the briefings at the start that this was ok.

WrongKindOfFace · 25/05/2020 19:43

Shop staff will get keyworkers places, but lots of schools aren’t providing wraparound care. So, fuck knows.

Bathroom12345 · 25/05/2020 19:46

Do people not recognise that spending hours and hours with your Mum or other parts of family is the most risky. Hugs, kisses etc. The viral load will be much more serious then a wander around the shops but if you think ‘that will show em’ you go ahead.

nuttymomma · 25/05/2020 19:46

he's brought this forward early to try to detract from the dominic cummings situation.

Its far too soon IMO.

Wonder what sturgeon will say about Scotland.

MsSafina · 25/05/2020 19:47

Does that mean we can see our GP or will they still be hiding in their surgeries?

HepzibahGreen · 25/05/2020 19:47

If you want to see your family, see your family! Use your own judgment.
I am also worried about how shop workers with children are going to be able to keep their jobs?

Littlebelina · 25/05/2020 19:50

Shop staff will get keyworkers places I would assume this only applies to shop staff in essential retailers who are already open not the non essential retailers on the 15th. Short answer is nobody knows what parents who rely on schools to work are supposed to do. It's shit.

MarieQueenofScots · 25/05/2020 19:50

It seriously isn’t for us I’m fully able to assess my own risk and as we’ve been given the green light to “use our instincts” I’m happy with the absolutely minuscule risk.

HesterShaw1 · 25/05/2020 19:51

No not back to normal. Still have no idea when I can re open my business (small group tours)

SockYarn · 25/05/2020 19:51

June 15, 2022 way she's going.

homemadecommunistrussia · 25/05/2020 19:52

hoo-bloody-ray! Life has to go on, I am only sorry it isn't a wee bit sooner.
Grin

Sockbogies · 25/05/2020 19:53

What about playgrounds? I'm sure people can be trusted to use their common sense and wash hands after going to them. Would give parents one extra thing to do with their children and stop the beach being the default option?

lilgreen · 25/05/2020 19:55

I gather it’s not happening yet. He said 15/6. Not back to normal anyway as pubs and restaurants and cinemas,
theatres and hairdressers won’t be open.

PicsInRed · 25/05/2020 19:56

Does this mean B&Q will rescind the ban on mothers kids then?

bigchris · 25/05/2020 19:56

If you work in Primark for example you'll be expected back but no childcare or school places open unless you have a 4 , 5, 6, or 11 year old

Fantastic

bigchris · 25/05/2020 19:57

So from Monday 1st June car showrooms and open markets, take your kids to work people lol

Oakmaiden · 25/05/2020 19:57

Thing is, I remember reading that sales in next had fallen by 90% in the week before the lockdown, so I'm not sure people are going to be rushing out to buy a new top. And I am worried that this will mean that shops will try to operate, make a loss and end up closing forever.

Hopefully not, though.

KaleJuicer · 25/05/2020 19:57

I can't fathom why people can't understand why vulnerable people still need to stay shielded even if shops are opening for healthy people to shop. The nature of the virus hasn't changed so if you are, say, diabetic, or over 70, just though the passage of time things have not changed and you're still at more risk of complications if you catch the virus and should still stay home (if you want to manage your risk). I am under 40, female, fair skinned, healthy BMI, no underlying health conditions so I have a different risk profile and yes, I am going to go shopping for shoes for the children.

I still won't visit my 70+ PIL with health conditions because they are still vulnerable. They certainly won't be meeting me to go shoe shopping even if technically they can. And I don't think that is "fucking stupid" - because I understand risk ascertainment and public health policy.

Emmajanekylaissabelle · 25/05/2020 20:00

This is what I'm currently going through now. I'm assistant manager at a Card Factory store and I was instructed to go back to work tomorrow to prep the store for re opening. Yet my two young children are still not back at school, because of this I had to stay on furlough and all of my hours have been given to another staff member. I feel like I am letting my team down as it should have been me there getting things ready but without the schools it is impossible.

IncrediblySadToo · 25/05/2020 20:00

Has he learnt nothing?
