Thread three for following the uproar at playing down the lock down and rewriting the rules.

B1rdbra1n I agree re the T-shirt. When he turned up at no 10 yesterday in that scruffy T-shirt, possibly the one he was wearing the day before, it was obvious that he knew he was invincible and was cocking a snook at the public. He's the boss, not Johnson.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 09:59

Cold War Steve's latest artwork is great.

Love Harold Shipman driving the car. Possibly it would have been more apposite if Cummings was pissing on the graves of those who've died from Covid-19, as this is effectively what he's been doing.

Sorry, twitter.com/Coldwar_Steve/status/1264615276492062720/photo/1

The New Statesman piece is hilarious. Very clever getting them to hang themselves on their own rope. "Cognisant" ffs.

And the Trip Advisor reviews are hilarious too. I particularly like the one full of typos that ends, "I licked everything".

It's been great to have a laugh over this story. I actually think it's life-and-death serious, but in between the schadenfreude and the wit of the wags, it's been great therapy. "Fantastic", as BJ might say.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 10:04

This comment on Twitter made me snort too:

if you need to drive 260 miles to find the nearest person willing to help keep you alive you should start considering the possibility you might be a bit of a cunt

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 10:05

Boris actually said "sought childcare when both he and his wife were about to be incapacitated with coronavirus"

A) how could they know that and

B) they weren't. Mary Wakefield herself reported that!

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 10:07

Yeah, the timelines really don’t work.

May 27th - scuttled out of No 10.

Possible - May 28th travelled to Durham.

Within 24 hours of an unspecified date (let’s say the 28th) he came down with Covid and “lay doggo” for at least 6 days according to Wakefield’s Spectator guff - and was allegedly suffering low oxygen levels at this point.

April 5th - dicking around in the garden to ABBA, so if you’re being generous to Cummings with the timelines he’s gone from being extremely ill and struggling to breathe to full recovery in 2 days?

And no we weren’t supposed to be driving to anywhere to take exercise on April 12th - that relaxation (although I’m sure they’ll use the excuse that it was a clarification) wasn’t made public until 16th April.

The Government Twitter feed was telling us to “stay home” on April 11th, Easter Saturday.

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 10:07

Did you see Charlie from Politico wanted to come back and BJ didn't want him to but they did anyway. His face when he saw the screen and tried to get it moved on to the next question was brilliant.

BJ clearly dropped his mask of friendly man of the people to reveal superior two rules thinking.

Excellent sabrina thanks

Laaf80 · 25/05/2020 10:11

@SabrinaThwaite I was listening to LBC yesterday. Govt ad yesterday ended with stay at home ffs.

I’m so angry. And so sad for every individual who stuck to the rules to their detriment.

People will have lifelong guilt over things they did and didn’t do to abide by the rules such as mum dying alone because I had to isolate.

Fuckers the lot of them.

tootyfruitypickle · 25/05/2020 10:11

Yesn @Noeuf I saw that, that was when he really unravelled . It’s been a while since I’ve seen a politician so completely undone like that.

tootyfruitypickle · 25/05/2020 10:12

They’re going to have to get rid of both the scuttler and Boris . This is a disaster .

Anyone seen Jeremy hunt pop up on this yet?

Roussette · 25/05/2020 10:14

@tiredvommachine That's great!

Within 24 hours he, according to Mary 'felt weird' and then 'day in, day out for 10 days he lay doggo with a high fever and spasms...' So when did they travel to Durham or is what she wrote a bunch of old hokum?

A bunch of old hokum, especially bearing in mind she wrote about entering out after the illness to 'London lockdown'.
She was in Durham at the time.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 25/05/2020 10:15

Neighbours

Everybody needs good neighbours

PS: Would not an autistic 4 y/o be freaked out by a five hour drive to a strange house?

B1rdbra1n · 25/05/2020 10:19

Dropped his mask
I agree, his true face is that of a person who thinks that we the underlings should shut up and do as we're told.
He was clearly irritated by and not prepared to comply with requests for transparency

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 10:19

Shapps said he travelled up the weekend I think and the guardian said 31st?

I'm furious more that by the next election Boris will have recovered and be voted in again.

I'm furious that if it was ok all along to do what you wanted to suit your family that we weren't told. It's not about DC and his circumstances.

OP posts:
Roussette · 25/05/2020 10:20

This is what we really need to be worried about.
This might be unsubstantiated but someone with far more time than me is monitoring the Govt's website ... watch this space.

"UK govt now removing its own posts & messages on Coronavirus which are considered embarrassing in the light of Boris Johnson retroactively changing the rules to save Dominic Cummings."

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 10:21

Exactly B1rd

I just hope the die hard Tory voters think twice next time round . Luckily Kier is attractive enough as a suited and educated type (in the right way) to lure them over

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 10:21

Where is that Rousette?

We don't know that. Some true Tory family members and a friend of mine are all feeling very different about the whole party. If Starmer makes inroads over the next few years, that really might not be the case.

Roussette · 25/05/2020 10:23

Noeuf It's on Twitter. As I said it's unsubstantiated ATM but someone is checking out you.gov very carefully

Roussette · 25/05/2020 10:24

.gov I meant!

B1rdbra1n · 25/05/2020 10:26

UK government now removing its own posts
Surely they know this will be monitored and documented and then it will show up on YouTube in a multitude of montages displaying the machiavellianism for all to see

Roussette · 25/05/2020 10:32

I would've thought so, let's see if it's true, as I say it's unsubstantiated at the moment, but people are persistent uncovering this sort of stuff aren't they...

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 10:34

Agh, you’re right - it was 10 days “lying doggo”, so that makes it this now:

May 27th - scuttled out of No 10.

Possible - May 28th travelled to Durham.

Within 24 hours of an unspecified date (let’s say the 28th) he came down with Covid and “lay doggo” for at least 10 days according to Wakefield’s Spectator guff - and was allegedly suffering low oxygen levels on Day 6.

So Cummings couldn’t be lying doggo for 10 days (which takes you up to April 7th) and partying in a garden on April 5th?

And it’s a pretty remarkable recovery to be wandering around Barney by April 12th?
