I’ve emailed my MP. He’s Labour, so I expect him to be receptive.

RandomNameGenerator2020 · 24/05/2020 21:42

My MP has been critical today. I will write to him.

love JKR.

Boris looked so pale and knackered.

Is it because it finally dawned on him that he’s committing career suicide to save an unelected bureaucrat?

What does Cummings have on these Tories that is making them gaslight the nation to save his skin?

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 21:46

That telegraph list of questions that should be answered Morris another set of questions - refused to be answered to and remains so.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 21:47

Sorry - meant to say so it doesn't fill me with hope we will ever know.

SixesAndEights · 24/05/2020 21:51

My MP has been tweeting and he thinks Johnson has to go because he's both damaged the Tory administration and undone all attempts to save lives.

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 21:52

I'd rather Dominic Raab was in charge.
Words I never thought I'd type.

Roussette · 24/05/2020 21:58

This is a new angle on all of this. Whilst I would not wish anyone losing a relation to COVID, this is what's happened to thousands of people in the UK, and that's people who have been unable to go to funerals, to be with their loved ones as they passed away in hospital...
so, I'm sorry, but this now seems somewhat convenient.

www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/coronavirus-hospitalisation-rates-revealed-80-per-cent-infected/

According to this telegraph article in March, 4.9% of symptomatic cases will require hospital treatment, so that's about 1 in 20. The chances of both DC and his wife both being hospitalised is therefore about 1 in 400. As he weaseled his way onto SAGE, one would imagine he was reasonably au fait with the risks to different age groups. Unless DC or MW have underlying health conditions (which to be fair, there is no reason we should know about them), the chances of both of them becoming too ill to look after their child were pretty slim. But still he felt the need to travel.

LarkDescending · 24/05/2020 21:59

There are some early signs on Twitter that the next strand of the apologists’ toolkit will be to focus on the fact his uncle died (in London, on 5 April) and therefore it is mean to ask Dominic any nasty questions about what he was doing around then.

user1495884620 · 24/05/2020 21:59

Damnit MN, why don't you have an edit button. The 4.9% is for people in their 40s.

frumpety · 24/05/2020 21:59

@SophieB100 You could always delete it like that Civil service tweet Grin

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 22:02

Grin @frumpety

B1rdbra1n · 24/05/2020 22:06

Wasn't Rasputin famously a scruffbag?
yep he's Rasputin without the wild hair, or a Svengali figure!

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 22:08

The uncle story is sad. But not a defence. The mum and brothers of a 13yo boy had to miss his funeral to self isolate. Because that's the rules. I'm sure they'd have liked to have been allowed to travel too.

MotherofPearl · 24/05/2020 22:08

The DM have broken ranks. Shock

Let's (Truth) Twist Again (3)
StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2020 22:10

My grandad died. We stayed put until we wee allowed to go to the funeral.
And let's face it if they're going to use the death card there are some parents out there who could put him to shame.

YogaLite · 24/05/2020 22:16

As much as I respect SAGE scientists, I wonder what inside knowledge he had from that - is the conspiracy theory of compliance exercise for the plebs a possible explanation?

JackiFazaki · 24/05/2020 22:17

Wow, at the DM headline.

frumpety · 24/05/2020 22:20

I wonder if the little black book is less about what Dominic has on them and more about who they work for and who pays their wages ?

Lets be honest , a bunch of journalists working in London will have plenty of shit they can throw around should the need arise, as long as someone keeps paying them.

MaxNormal · 24/05/2020 22:21

That's not an excuse, the uncle dying. Its just yet again saying the rules don't apply to him as the rest of the country was expected to grieve their losses alone.

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 22:25

If anything, the fact that he lost an Uncle to this should make him more aware of the risks. And Bojo, his best buddy. Who said he owes his life to the NHS. Both of them should be fully ashamed. The first for blatantly flouting the rules, and the second for potentially confusing a public who might well feel justified in "doing a Dom" and putting more lives in hospital.
Pair of muppets.

user1495884620 · 24/05/2020 22:26

So, on 5th April, he was either:
a) grieving for his uncle
b) dancing to ABBA
c) "lying doggo" in bed
It is all just so much bollocks.

PerkingFaintly · 24/05/2020 22:30

Ironically, Cummings got Brexit through by realising there was an underlying discontent in the country that he could tap into.

The Leave campaigns spent their time banging on about how "the elite" were out of touch and didn't understand the righteous anger of the little people.

How ya like them apples, elite-boy?
