Effingterrified unfortunately they are. My local MP has put up a Facebook post explaining why he thinks DC should go. There are lots of comments from people mentioning Stephen Kinnock, left wing propaganda, we can't do without Dom, he did what everyone would do for his family, the press are a disgrace etc.

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 12:20

No point me writing to my MP - she's useless.
She came to the school I work in to do a Q&A with our sixth form, my DD was in year 13 at the time and part of the debate. They slaughtered her. The teachers were just standing there squirming at her inadequate answers.
She knocked on my door last year during the election campaign, I didn't bother to answer, was watching The Chase instead.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 12:23

Oh yes, the remainers the lefties the militants the Corbyn supporters are all to blame.
Not DC or the PM! They are just innocent bystanders.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 12:24

Dominic had options not to go up to Durham but he chose to ignore those.
That's the bottom line. But somehow it's all labour's fault!

The Shadow Home Secretary has written to Priti Patel:

Johnson will have to start prepping soon to be in any way ready for the next PMQs. He had enough trouble coping with Starmer before this. And the disquiet from Tory party members is something that can be pointed out.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 12:33

janet1267 - you do know there is such a thing as fake Facebook accounts, don't you?

I meant people you actually know in real life saying this.

The only people I've seen saying this are paid Tory shills and bots.

In real life, everyone I know is furious with DC and BJ.

KenDodd · 25/05/2020 12:33

Lots of calling people traitors for criticising Cummings/Johnson on Tory/Leave FB sites. One poster even saying we should bring back hanging for the traitors and getting loads of likes of course.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 12:34

Johnson has got the Liaison Committee on Wednesday afternoon - if he doesn’t bottle it again.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 12:34

On Twitter, even well-known Tory supporters are shocked and think Cummings should go.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 12:35

They are on a break this week! By the time it's PMQs it'll be old news.

KenDodd · 25/05/2020 12:35

In real life, everyone I know is furious with DC and BJ.

And I bet money if there was an election tomorrow the Tory voters would crawl over hot coals to vote them back into power.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 12:36

And in response to This courtesy of using your instincts was not extended to anyone else despite the rewriting of guidance

There is no defence of “instincts”. The only defences available under the legislation are “reasonableness” and “necessity”.

ButteryPuffin · 25/05/2020 12:40

Tbh, I think the Spectator should sack Mary Wakefield as well. Her journalistic integrity is completely undermined by this.

Time for Spectator readers to start emailing the editor. Not sure how likely that is, or whether it would work, but it's the best shot.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 12:40

Ken Dodd, I agree.
They might be shocked in the shires today but by the next election it'll be '
You can't trust labour' !
Seen it all before ( I am old) !
The Tory party have loyal voters.

janet1267 · 25/05/2020 12:41

Effingterrified thank you. I naively assumed they were constituents commenting. I've just looked at at the first 30 or so comments under the post. Not a single one appears to live locally.

In real life I don't know anyone who thinks what DC has done is ok.

Kendodd I've already written to my MP following yesterday's fiasco press conference saying that I will never support the Conservatives whilst Johnson is the leader. I stand by that.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 25/05/2020 12:44

unfortunately a good friend of mine, lifelong Tory is defending CD

Spoke to my dad briefly this morning...i was a bit worried that a true blue tory who never has or ever will vote anything but tory and defends them to the hilt would be on the side of Johnston and Cummings on this issue

Imagine my relief when he was just as annoyed 😀

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 12:44

LBC now saying DC due to make a statement and take questions - ie he isn't resigning.

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 12:44

Cummings making statement today and taking questions - breaking news

1forsorrow · 25/05/2020 12:45

I wonder if he can control his arrogance? If he comes on with his normal attitude it will just make the situation worse.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 12:45

Well Cummings is getting his own presser this afternoon Confused

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 12:45

LBC now saying DC due to make a statement and take questions

Any idea when this will happen?

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 12:46

We’re all into it!Smile

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 12:46

Thing is it's the one rule thing. Lots of us have autistic kids.

The autistic community is livid already so he'd better not play that card.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 12:46

Janet, that's good to read and I respect your views but I still believe that many others will not be as upset about this and see it as storm in a tea cup.
My dh votes conservative. He is upset about this but he can't vote labour as he doesnt agree with their policies.
We have always disagreed on politics so we tend to not talk about it !
