Thread three for following the uproar at playing down the lock down and rewriting the rules.

I think he needs to go. But weren't the rules that if someone shows symptoms it's 7 days isolation. Then 14 days for other household members. But..... if they show symptoms during that time then they are 7 days from then?

MsSafina · 25/05/2020 12:50

Yes I think Boris will be gone before the end of the year. His bumbling at PMQs really shows him up. He's always been able to wing it. He can't now.

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 12:52

Yes, that was the advice. You get symptoms you isolate from then on for 7 days, if you're better on day 8 onwards, you can go out. People who you live with, they isolate from the first day you got symptoms, but for 14 days. If they become ill, they further isolate for 7 days. Quite clear.

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 12:55

That letter was sent on one of the possible dates D.C. went to Durham.

It's clear.

You must stay home.

Leave only where necessary for food, medicines, exercise and to seek medical attention.

Rinoachicken · 25/05/2020 12:56

The autism is no defence.

The guidelines where clear. The sick mother should have isolated WITHIN HER OWN HOME for 7 days, with the father caring for his child. If the father than became unwell, and they were BOTH too unwell to care for their child, a suitable person of their choosing (be that the child’s familiar nanny or a relative) would have legally and legitimately been able to go to the home to provide care.

THERE WAS NEVER ANY NEED TO TRAVEL

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 12:56

Ooh he's going to make a statement
Who votes insincere apology and determined to remain and do my bit etc etc

Saucery · 25/05/2020 12:57

I’m going with thinly veiled sneering contempt, personally. Just a hunch based on his general demeanour.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 25/05/2020 12:57

Dom's being made to walk the plank.

Now how do they fit that in with the Daily Bollocksfest?

Before, After or During?

Rinoachicken · 25/05/2020 12:57

And I have an autistic child and will be spitting blood if he tries to use that as a defence when up and down the country families with autistic children and adults have been living in desperate circumstances with no respite care, no support. The difference it would have made to many if only they had known they could ‘follow their instincts’ and access additional care...

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 12:59

If this child's asd is going to be wheeled out as so important he had to go to specific people, it's funny how (unlike a huge number of parents) both parents were able to work and not stay at home on carers allowance.

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 13:00

Yes to the child with autism get out of jail free card. If only you idiots had had better instincts as parents, eh?

SophieB100 · 25/05/2020 13:00

Cummings and Goings Bingo!

"I acted in the best interests of my family"
"I am speaking to you because we must refocus on the matter at hand"
"This must not derail the objective of the lockdown"
"I have the full backing of the PM"
"I have done nothing wrong"
"My child needed specific childcare"
"I stayed in during the virus and isolated away from others"

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 13:02

I thi k there'll be a bit more grovelling.
Maybe an "I'm sorry if you feel it was a misinformed act"
Yes, the word "misinformed" definitely
And the old faves "working day and night, night and day" and "Look..."

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 13:02

Where has the information come from that Cummings' child has ASD?

Rumour? Speculation? Trying to shoehorn a justification in after the facts?

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 13:03

"at no point did I ever"

TSSDNCOP · 25/05/2020 13:06

I don't care what DC says in trying to justify himself. The only thing I want him to say is "sorry, I quit"

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 13:06

Probably easy to list what he won't do:
Admit any wrongdoing
Clear up any of the remaining issues
Answer any direct questions

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 13:09

No need to ask my dad what he thinks. He was rooting for BJ to pull through his coronavirus.

Just so it was appropriate for him to start insulting his every move again Grin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 25/05/2020 13:14

Nice 😀

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 13:16

Yes the asd (if what's been typed on twitter is true) will be a low blow.

Hundreds and thousands of families with disabled children stayed home as instructed. Some with just 1 parent.
Many who also had covid within the household.

There were absolutely no rules (except the change to exercise which came about after this anyway) that said in this case follow your instincts.

They remained the same.

You MUST stay home.

sleepyhead · 25/05/2020 13:17

There was a smattering of posts on Twitter fairly late last night re: the ASD. Mostly very small numbers of followers, no avatar.

Might be true, might not, but it was clearly another "lets chuck this in and see if it flies" (c.f the uncle, the swap from gps to sister for childcare, the childcare mercy dash in the first place).

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 13:18

Maybe an "I'm sorry if you feel it was a misinformed act"

Oh it will definitely be a sorry, not sorry. I also expect autism to be mentioned, or at the very least specific needs.

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 13:21

He will definitely play the intrusion into his private life, impact on his family of the attention, acting with the knowledge of the cabinet (ie if I go I'm taking you all with me motherfuckers) etc

OP posts:
sleepyhead · 25/05/2020 13:22

I think the most depressing bit of the whole debacle is the low-effort seeding of template tweets, outright denial not even trying to build up a credible story, wheeling out friends and relations at fairly predictable intervals to put up another shaky defence.

It all just says, 'yeah yeah I have to go through the motions of making it seem like I give a shit about what you think, but we all know I'm in charge and this will all go away because I want it to.'

It feels like BJ is less likely to survive this than Cummings.

TSSDNCOP · 25/05/2020 13:24

What about the vulnerable ASD kids that were in keyworker settings!

Is Cummings walking his child to nursery next Monday?
