BREAKING - PCC of Durham has asked the chief constable to conduct a full inquiry into Dominic Cummings visit.

Predictably a lot of comments about why don't they look at real crimes instead.

Etonians (at least of that era) and some other boarding schools produced a very special breed!

Boris really does think that he and his ilk, due to privilege and money, have to obey a different set of laws to the rest of us. Boris pretty much came out and said it!

It is the same logic as the Bullingdons smashing up a restaurant and feeling they have done no wrong as they can pay for the damage. And the other people who were frightened and whose meals were ruined don’t really matter.

Still think that when Cummings second visit is proven, he will be toast. And a lot of egg on the cabinet members’ faces at the same time! In fact a whole fried breakfast....

Effing I think we are all just desperate for someone with some power to do something now.

I'm the parent of 2 autistic children. I am petrified of them getting the virus as they wouldn't cope with being treated for it and (god forbid) having to have any form of ventilation/ oxygen due to sensory issues.

They won't cope with being able to wear facemasks out so they won't be going anywhere that it would be advised to wear one. Whilst they are not technically vulnerable I think they are due to this, even though the risk to children is slim.

I would not have put them at risk by putting them in a car with a person who was symptomatic for 4 hours. No way.

Lol I very much doubt they're after Cummings but wouldn't it be interesting if they were.

I'm shocked by how many people on Facebook etc are saying that Dominic Cummings has done nothing wrong. They seem to be ignoring the fact that he was carrying the virus and they've bought the government spin on doing the best for his family.

This isn't political for me - I voted Conservative at the last election - it's about hypocrisy, decency, honesty and the sheer arrogance of the 'do as I say, not as I do' mentality.

I despair.

Are these actually real people, Janet? I don't know anyone, including lifelong Tories, defending this in real life.

My son is autistic. So like most people I worked out how we would handle the horror situation of contracting the virus. It featured juice, biscuits and the Disney channel to keep him safe in our home while DH and I were incapacitated. DH is a T1 diabetic so the situation could have been dire.

At no point did I think a trip to Durham was the appropriate response.

1. Im not sure that his actions weren't ok (in an individual level) - sermon somewhere lovely to self isolate etc
2. But, infected people travelling - wrong
3. This courtesy of using your instincts was not extended to anyone else despite the rewriting of guidance
4. The implication that we are all fairly shit parents for not doing what he did

Yes, I've seen them as well. I follow a few Tory and Leave accounts. Full of support for BJ and DC and trying to drum up as much hate as they can against his accusers or non supportive/critical politicians/public/press.
